Superficial.......2003-03-19
Written primarily for entry-level job applicants, and relying on a firm's own promotional literature, VaultReports.com Employer Profiles won't tell you anything that you can't determine from a firm's website.
Interested in how the big accounting firms really operate? Buy "Final Accounting" by Barbara Ley Toffler. It's about the demise of Arthur Andersen, but applies to the Final Four just as well.

Customer Reviews:
The complete book of elk hunting.......2007-01-04
Excellent source for elk hunters, to review and obtain guidance
Not that great.......2006-03-09
This book was all together disappointing. It was very repeative and offered very little useful information. It had one or two good points, but repeated them over and over. If you want to hunt elk in Montana, this book goes over every possible place an elk could be, whick is a lot of places. Parts of the book were controdictory to other parts. No mention of field judging antlers, and very little mention of useful equipment. If you are looking for a good elk hunting book check out elk hunting by mike eastman.
From the behavior of big bulls to stalking, tracking and other tactics.......2005-12-05

The Fall of an Empire.......2007-03-30
There she was: perched at the top of the jungle gym, stocky, about Zoe's age, short auburn hair stuck up all over the place on purpose, olive green cargo shorts, black tank top, a cigarette pinched between her first and second fingers like a joint, bare feet dangling over the edge, a pair of skater shoes and a puddle of butts on the ground under her. The Beckoners, written by Carrie Mac, is about Zoe, the new girl, April, the geek, and the fall of a five girl empire know as the Beckoners. Once again, Zoe is forced to move due to her mom's job, this time to the small town of Abbotsford. Here Zoe meets Beck, your typical high school bully, and her gang of minions, the Beckoners. Beck decides to make an "investment" in Zoe and initiates her into the Beckoners against her will. Keeping busy is Zoe's only way to avoid hanging out with the Beckoners, so she joins the school paper where she meets her future boyfriend, Leaf, and April, more commonly known as Dog, a regular victim of Beck. Zoe ends up irritating the Beckoners so badly that they painfully un-initiate her. Beck tells her that if she stays out of her way then they wont mess with her anymore. Zoe soon finds out that that is easier said than done when the Beckoners continue to harass April. After nearly killing April and hanging April's dog, Shadow, Zoe comes up with a plan, with the help of Leaf, April, and two other friends, Simon and Teo, to take care of the Beckoners for good. Zoe tells the Beckoners that they made April commit suicide and get them to turn themselves into the police. I loved this book and I recommend it to everyone.
Abbotsford was an excellent town to set the story in. It's a little Christian town in the middle of nowhere (fully equipped with a large neon cross) making all of the characters, other than April, misfits. They are all atheists, and refer to most of Abbotsford's citizens as "the Jesus freaks." Simon and Teo were also gay, creating a great conflict with the perfect little town. The scenery played an important role throughout the story, such as the bandstand where Zoe was initiated and April was nearly killed. I can't think of a better place for the story to take place than Abbotsford.
My favorite thing about this novel was the characters. Each had a distinct personality which made them seem realistic. Simon was always very outspoken, so when the Beckoners came into Zoe's science class to burn April's notebook it was expected that he would somehow make the tense moment comical. April on the other hand was always quiet, so when she was teased and tormented while walking down the halls she acted as if she was oblivious to the people around her, keeping her feelings private. The one person whose actions were always unexpected were Zoe's because she changed so much throughout the story. Great stories need great characters, and this novel definitely delivered.
This story was also very realistic. In high school rumors spread fast and they do the same in this story. When the "What Would You Do?" section was released in the school newspaper, it was a matter of periods before the Beckoners were rampaging throughout the school, looking for April and Zoe. This book is the sad truth about what being a teenager is really like. It doesn't try to make life seem perfect and everyone get along. This could be any real teenager's story.
From the moment Zoe leaves Prince George to the look on the Beckoners' faces as they walk into the police station, The Beckoners quenches the reader's thirst for drama. Its setting, characters, and truth draw the reader in and don't let go until there is nothing left to read. I look forward to reading more of Mac's work in the near future. If you want to read a story filled with excitement and drama you have to pick up The Beckoners.
- R. Martin
If you like Plum-Ucci..........2005-11-26
I'm a fan of The Body of Christopher Creed and What Happened to Lani Garver by Plum-Ucci because the author tells it how it is...Carrie Mac does the same in The Beckoners...The Beckoners is not a mystery (like Plum-Ucci's books), but a realistic portrayal of what happens in high schools...There are so many "life is so great...blah, blah, blah..." books that it is nice to have a book that deals with what life can really be like.

Book Description
The essays in this volume deal chiefly with issues of class and gender, which are seen as mutually constitutive of social identity. Recent historical interest in the idea of "modernity" is represented in studies of socio-spatial relations of urban culture and in the emergence of gender-laden conceptions of the modern suburban culture of domesticity and consumerism. Art and art patronage are dissected as cultural motifs suggestive both of gender and rank. The detailed cultural aesthetic of the middle classes is explored from the learned societies of the late eighteenth century to the amateur operatic societies of the twentieth-century suburbs. A key focus is the changing and uncertain representation of masculine identities in relation to class.

Book Description
The United States and Canada share an atmospheric environment and an energy market. The important concerns stemming from this continental perspective are the focus of this volume, which investigates specific bilateral energy-environment issues and the Canada-United States relationship. One topic explored is the extent to which cooperation is possible between Canada and the United States in environmental and energy policymaking in each of the key energy sectors. The book also studies such topics as how decisionmakers in Canada and the United States choose between competing policy options and what mechanisms they employ to coordinate policies. Other chapters investigate strategies for curbing acid rain, siting hazardous waste, and dealing with the negative by-products of energy development. The ecological dangers that face our continent and the world ultimately demand comprehensive policy and behavior changes of national, continental, and global scope by governments, businesses, and private citizens. The articles in this volume approach this theme of binational energy and environment issues from a variety of perspectives. Some offer policy suggestions to government and business, while others concentrate on the more technical aspects of alternative behavior patterns.

Customer Reviews:
Great book.......2007-07-16
WE took this to the beach with us this year and my kids used it every day. WE had so much fun with it. The pictures in the book are great for identifying shells, fish, etc. at the SC and NC Coast. We found a lot of the things pictured in the book. Easy to understand descriptions! I recommend this book to anyone ... especially homeschooling families!!!
Serviceable and Entertaining.......2004-05-20
My goal in purchasing this book, which pulls together information about birds, shells, dune plants, and fish was to be able to pack one slim volume instead of the bag of field guides I usually took to the Outer Banks. After two trips to North Carolina in the last year, I have found that I still need to carry a couple of other references because this is not comprehensive in any one of its categories--and how could it be at 148 pages? However, Meyer's guide does manage to cover many of the specimens commonly found along the Carolina coast. Furthermore, it is written in a graceful voice that keeps you reading long after you've put a name to the beastie you found on the beach. It is not childish or simple at all, but it can be used by the entire family. It stirs wonder.
Interesting guide..........2003-03-07
Being a transplant from Michigan, I had little knowledge of coastal animals and plants. I purchased this book to satisfy my curiosity. I'm not knowledgeable enough as the other reviewer who found the inaccuracies in the book. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the book. The information is presented in a very interesting way and all the photographs are in color. I can't wait to spend more time on the coast and see some of the creatures myself. I'll definitely have this guide on hand. I also enjoyed the respect the author has for nature.
Some SERIOUS problems in the plates, otherwise ok.......2002-08-07
Overall an ok book for a beginner. If you come into this as a naturalist you will likely be disapointed. There are some other serious problems that I was able to spot straight out.
Plate 40. "Auger Shells" One of the 'augers' is not only NOT an auger and it's not even from the Carolinas at all. It's the Common Vertagus (a certh) from the Indo-Pacific (likely from the Philippines).
Plate 54. "Oyster Drills". Contains several Murexes in addition to the drills.
Plate 59. Sundials. The figured Sundial is not The American Sundial (Architectonica nobilis) but rather the Clear Sundial (Architectonica perspectiva) also from the Indo-Pacific.
The substitution of shells from the other side of the world really shows sloppy work in this guide. The other major problem I have with the book is that it just isn't complete enough; it only shows a small fraction of the plants and animals that one finds on Carolina coasts. The naturalist who trys to depend on this book will likely be frustrated and will find that they need other guides. As an introduction for a beginner it is ok, short the above noted plate problems.
Incredibly accurate with astonishing photos.......1999-01-04
For the past four years I have had a place at the beach. Dr. Meyer's book has become our bible. Using it, shells, shorebirds and seaside flora are easily identified by my family, friends and renters. Being an amateur photographer, I am in total awe of the skill of the other physician who took the pictures.
