Easy to read and follow. Good for beginners or "new country farmers".

This a good, straight foreward pamphlet on how to kill, skin and cut up a variety of animals. I found it to be a useful guide eventhough I don't agree with some of the killing and skinning techniques used. I have over 20 years experience breeding and butchering rabbits and chinchillas. I can assure you that the techniques outlined in this publication are sound and practical. The reason I purchased this pamphlet was to gain some insight into to butchering of larger animals. I feel the author does an excelent job of giving a basic break down of the esentials. I do however, wish the author would have broken down the cuts more thouroughly and dedicated a section to deer.

It was all I could do to keep from laughing out loud when I was reading "The Picnic" story on the train. Larry returns to England after 10 years' absence and embarks on a picnic with Mother, Margo, Margo's husband Jack, Leslie and of course Gerry. The consequences are hilarious of course. Adult Durrell mayhem at its best - what a wonderfully wacky family! This is great if you can't get enough of them!

Before reading this book I always wondered why I would get burned out after 3 or 4 months of lifting. Plateau...then quit for a while. I love lifting. I love being in the gym. I would just fizzle after a while. This book explains it. I simply can't lift 3 times a week and make long term progress with out steroids. Did Mike do roids? Sure! Read between the lines in this book. He basically admits it. I've been lifting every week since reading this book 4 years ago. Although a workout consisting of one set of deadlifts followed by 4 days rest might seem crazy/lazy to you now - try it. It works. It's up to you.

So here is how i sum up this book.... if you think you know a lot about bodybuilding and have already pre-determined that this is BS read no further............. This book has opened up a whole new concept to me in terms of bodybuilding. I am by no means a proffesional but I am like many more of a similar kind, a guy that wants to build muscle in the best possible way PERIOD. The problem with the Mike Mentzer system is that it seems all to simple and too short because of our common concepts of how more equals more.....not less equals more.......and then you try it and no matter who you are you notice a change in your appearance for what seems to be a conservative amount of time in the gym. AND YOU LOVE WHAT YOU SEE! This book is not just theory it involves scientifically backed data, when you can sit and read it and open your mind to the conceptual idea the gym will become a whole new world to you. If you can and are willing to push your body to it's absolute limit and then some more, take a peek at this book I can gurantee as long as you have the ability to take yourself to your limit you will benefit. Scientifically AND THEN theoratically it is proven. Train hard and enjoy the pain! Just a side note; i have read different opinions towards HIT training, some claim that peaking is it's biggest draw back. HIT training has a limited time of usage and then it is'nt effective........but this is the nature of our bodies!? Adaptation. Even with the conventional methods of training 10 out of 10 people WILL PEAK. This book puts it plain and simple...
1.How training less WILL give you more.
2.How to take advantage of your body's muscular development by exhausting all 3 phases of muscle strength.
3. How to train hard but also smart. How busting your a** twice a week can create incredible changes in your physique.
4. And how to be aware of and delay peaking.....this book doesn't deny it will happen. We all have our genetic potential, with or without anabolic aid. For some it will come sooner then others.

His system works better than any ive tried in the past. At 34 y/o old i put on 14 lbs, bf dropped from 20.7% to 15.2% in 45 days. Also i do NO cardio, at all. I train every 3 days and watch what i eat. Buy this book and apply it!

A most excellent book on high int. training!! I do not agree with all written, but most of it is good practical info.Bottom line, no matter how you train, recovery is key. I think less is better as you get bigger and stronger. The muscles may recover in short time, but the tendons and ligaments do take the extra time to repair themselves.Also, your life style plays a huge role in how well you recover, pretty individual, but there are some fast and firm rules to apply, the principals you can tweak as you need.

If one of these days you decide that a short vacation is in order, you could definitely do worse than pick the "Flying Visits Mediterranean" as your travel companion. First of all it might give you just the idea you were looking for. It talks about 20 Mediterranean cities and towns in six countries, first giving you a brief introduction on how to get there and then talking about what to do once you reach your destination.

The introductory chapter on "Getting There" is extremely useful. It lists different carriers that fly to a certain destination, offers a variety of truly useful air travel tips and even informs you about a not-so-often used charter flights or cheap inter-European flights from London in great detail, including the ways to travel from one end of London to the other. While this might not be used by the majority of travelers due to the quite complicated and complex planning needed for such arrangements, I am certain that those younger and more agile readers will appreciate being informed of those options as well.

The following sections start with the introduction of each of the countries included in the guidebook (Spain, Italy, France, Malta, Greece and Cyprus). Those useful introductions will familiarize you with all the practical info needed for a pleasant stay, from entry formalities and ways of getting around to info on electricity, health and insurance, money, national holidays, post and faxes, telephones, time zones and price categories for accommodations and restaurants. Each of those sections also includes a short introduction to the language spoken in the area.

Those general sections are followed by descriptions of certain towns or cities with information on what to do there, where to stay and what to see as well as great ideas for day trips from the selected towns and even five day tours by car for those who can stay a bit longer in the area. Each of the sections offers a wealth of information and numerous good tips on accommodations, restaurants, points of interest, nightlife and more. The city maps are excellent and extremely easy to read, with major points of interest clearly marked.

I found this to be a very interesting and well written guidebook, particularly useful for travelers who cannot or do not want to spend a long time in one area. It will provide enough information for a pleasant `flying' visit and maybe spark more interest for a longer stay next time. My only disappointment with "Flying Visits Mediterranean" lies in the fact that it lacks photographs of the visited areas, which could surely enhance the written words.

Any shoujo manga fan will love this! The art is great, the story is amazing, the characters! How they break stereotypes! It's like a breath of fresh air! There are a ton of volumes, but its well worth the money! This is a classic piece that no shoujo fan should skip!

One of the most complex Manga I've run across.......2004-01-23

Basara is more than just your typical Shojo manga. Yes, there are drop-dead goregeous guys, and cuteness abounds, but the character development and the intricacies of the plot are much deeper than the pretty exterior implies. Sarasa's quest to become a leader and come into her own as a person is fascinating, and the potential for plot twists that has been set up just in the first three volumes makes my head hurt. I love it. (And I love Aghea too... but that's a different story. ;-)

I would recommend this series to anyone who likes fantasy, intrigue, and a healthy dose of romance.

Why half a crab .......2005-09-07

Its a Nice book to round out a collection about the subject .
On the down side while the crab illustrations are really nice they are only half done .Crabs have different crusher and pincer claws ,while only showing one gives you the spirit of the animal it is still not showing the other aspect .

A great guide, but not what many expect.......2000-09-19

This book, "A Field Guide to the Atlantic Seashore" is a great field guide. It presents an excellent overview of the life one commonly finds along the Atlantic coast of the USA. The book is arranged taxonomically, and each entry contains a description of characters useful in determining what you are looking at. As a professional biologist, I find this book to be superior in many ways to the Audubon Guides. For example, this Peterson guide includes both common AND scientific names by each entry, the book is arranged taxonomically rather than by other less important characters like color, etc.

This book is not, however, what many casual naturalists are looking for in a field guide. They often look for a book filled by page after page of photographs or illustrations. This book is filled by page after page of information more useful to the more advanced amateur or to the professional. There are several illustrations, many are simple line drawings that show details of important characteristics used to tell one kind of organism from another.

All in all a great field guide for the advanced amateur and professional. This is not, however, a book that is as likely to be embraced by the casual observer.

5 stars for the more professional audience, but 4 stars for the casual observer.

You might be happiest doing what another reviewer suggested... to use this book along with a photo field guide such as an Audubon Field guide to the region.

saboettger@yahoo.com. The Peterson field identification guide to the Atlantic Seashore by Kenneth L. Gosner is a useful tool in fieldwork. Seaweeds and animals are arranged taxonomically and described in detail regarding their distinguishing characteristics. All weeds and animals are called by both their scientific and common name and are described in an easily understood manner. The plates with drawings of creatures found along the Atlantic seashore are helpful to establish visual identification of seaweeds and animals. It is useful that the book explains different marine habitats that you may encounter as well as going into detail on important physical marine features such as water currents, salinity, tides etc. The details on how to maintain and preserve animals are an additional plus of this book. The Peterson field guide is a good tool for the use in class as well as for you personal exploration of the seashore. I would recommend its use in combination with the Audubon Guide to Shore Animals of North America. These books would complement each other since the Audubon Guide displays a similar identification system but enhances it with pictures of animals rather than drawings. The combined use of these books would increase the accuracy of your identification.
