I wrote this book because there is a lack of powerful and empowering role models for Indigenous children in the world of literature. Many stories about American Indians are full of stereotypes and inaccuracies and the characters wallow in poverty, alcoholism and despression. I hope readers of all backgrounds will enjoy this adventure story. Grand Canyon Rescue can also educate those who never think they will find themselves in an outdoor emergency.

When Oklahoma Choctaw Tuli Black Wolf's famous search and rescue tracker mother is called to help locate missing hunters on the Grand Canyon's North Rim, 14 year old Tuli is allowed to go with her on the dangerous search. Although Tuli is assigned to set up camp and care for the tracking dogs, one evening while accompanying her mom on a quick search the two are separated by a rainstorm. Now alone in the great, dark forest and in a potentially dangerous situation, Tuli makes a big decision. Should she stay put like her mother taught her to do if she became lost or should she utilize her knowledge of survival to embark on a hunt to find the lost men? The answer comes easy the next morning when she discovers the hunters' tracks. She locates the lost hunters, but one becomes seriously ill and they find themselves in an early snowstorm. In order to save the scared and humiliated men, Tuli must embark on another trek through deep snow to find the base camp.

This book has very little to do with "How Consumers Pick Hotels. Is basically a history of segmentation--mainly psychographic.

Read the Subtitle.......1998-11-05

Unfortunately, the title and subtitle are mutually inconsistent and I focused on the title. I was keenly interested in choice behavior particularly in the hospitality space. Instead this book is a dry rehash of psychographic research and application. As such, it does not spend any time on the how of the choice process but rather the why. Finally, except for an initial personal narrative on two hotel experiences which are wholly out of context, this book has nothing to do with hotels. I might have been more interested in the book if my expectations were better positioned, but the author and publisher chose to obscure the true topic of the book.

This study examines the interaction between growing palm oil export production and changes in Ngwa patterns of food production and family relations during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. It challenges the arguments of both dependency and vent-for-surplus theorists on the dominance of export-sector developments and the importance of changes initiated by Europeans. Local patterns of export growth and capital investment are shown to have been heavily influenced by independent changes in food production methods, gender and inter-generational relationships. Ngwa producers were affected by falling world prices, trading monopolies and colonial taxation. During the Igbo Women's War of 1929, Ngwa women protested vigorously against government interference and falling incomes, but failed to reverse either trend. The subsequent life stories of Ngwa men and women, set against a background of archival and anthropological evidence, provide the essential link between this historical experience and the current national problems of rural-urban drift and moribund export industries.

Disappinted with both Vol 1 & 2.......2007-07-12

Volume 2 repeates much of what is in volume 1. Both volumes seem to assume that the reader only is interested in 1911s for competitionon. Every chapter relates its topic to competition and frequently repeats what was discussed in a previous chapter/volume. Seem to be more of an "editroial" than a reference guide.

Excellent companion to Volume 1.......2007-06-13

For those who found this book wanting you should be aware there is a Volume 1 which is also very good. If you are interested enough in 1911's to buy this book then you want Volume 1 which goes more into basics and covers additional pistols. I think Volume 1 and 2 should be a staple in any 1911 owners library.

Model 1911 fan's bible.......2007-05-26

If you own, or have a fancy for the Model 1911 semi-auto, including the ones currently being manufactured, this is a good book for you. I own a Dan Wesson (CZ) Pointman Seven Model 1911 style .45. I have loved this big gun ever since I carried one in the MPs circa 1960.

This book has a lot of good info on the feeding and care of this often admired, if not loved handgun. I consider it an integral part of my firearm reference library.

Great book, worth your while........2006-11-28

I own and greatly enjoyed volume 1, and am pleased to say that volume 2 is not just a knock off, but adds all kinds of unique information. I really enjoy Sweeney's writing style and he definitely knows his stuff. The only thing that keeps this book from getting 5 stars is the incredible number of typos. If I had a dollar for each typo, I could buy myself a 1911 and this is no exaggeration. Count how many times the word "from" appears as "form" -- just the kind of thing your spell check program will never find. In spite of this the book is definitely worth owning.
