Excellent undergraduate sport psychology textbook!.......2001-03-17

I used this book in my undergraduate and on-line graduate course in sport psychology since the first edition. This text does a good job of explaining theories and and describing sport psychology applications. Weinberg and Gould have developed a well organized, resourceful, and easy-to-read book that my students have enjoyed reading. College professors, this book has excellent ancillary materials.

This is a book written straight from the right side of the brain:)!

Delightfully well written and joyfully illustrated,the author's enthusiasm for making one's life journal is infectious!!One begins to see everything in a new light as one reads along...and the next thing you know,you visualise yourself creating your own journal....and the next thing?You're off to get some paper/notebook and some pens...and with new found confidence instilled in your heart,you've begun to write and draw...and even take those 'special' moments photos with elan!!

Although I didn't get into the whole drawing thing (I am just really rerrible at it) and I use my journal for my personal thoughts as well as description of what goes on around me, I got a lot of ideas from this booklet and got really into collecting stuff to stick into my journal. Also, I sometimes get people to write a thing or two in it...which gives it a real personal note.
Worth reading if you are into journal writing or scrap books.

I loved this book. It's very true to it's title. Sometimes with books like this you expect something and get something totally different. Daniel Price gives practical, do-able advice. I wanted to run right out and get a journal to start chronicalling my life. I enjoyed his personal stories. With journals like this I sometimes feel like I have to have perfect pages, but this book made me realize that's not so.

This book was much smaller than I anticipated (in size), but it's packed full of useful information. I was able to pack it in my purse and read it casually. This is what a journal should be.

Price takes an organic and adventurous approach to life. This mini-book shows how he uses the simplest of events to create an exciting journal. He proves that you don't have to be a fabulous artist to convey your life visually. And anyone's life can qualify as interesting. A journal should say more about how you think than how the world simply appears. A great lesson in taking notes on your own life.

Historical economics, a little disjointed.......2003-12-19

Henning gives a comprehensive account of the foreign exchange markets in the 1970s and 1980s, covering in depth the developments of the international financial system as it came to terms with the fragmentation of Bretton Woods. As a reference work to refresh the memory on developments (particularly surrounding the Plaza and Louvre periods) it is a useful account.

Aside from the dated nature of the book (analysis ends basically with Clinton's accession to the presidency) there are some other problems. Analysing the US, Germany and Japan in distinct sections means that there is a rather disjointed approach to the work - to get a coherent account of international co-operation in the mid 1980s requires some skipping back and forth in the text, for instance. In addition, the analysis of policy and politics (whatever one thinks of the author's conclusions) comes across more as an afterthought to the chronology.

The detailed accounts of policy making in the 1980s makes this a useful reference book to those studying currency markets, but it should not be thought of as particularly strong when it comes to analytics.
