The properties of soft-matter thin films (e.g. liquid films, polymer coatings, Langmuir-Blodgett multilayers) nowadays play an important role in materials science. They are also very exciting with respect to fundamental questions: In thin films, liquids and polymers may be considered as trapped in a quasi-two-dimensional geometry. This confined geometry is expected to alter the properties and structures of these materials considerably. This volume is dedicated to the scattering of x-rays by soft-matter interfaces. X-ray scattering under grazing angles is the only tool to investigating these materials on atomic and mesoscopic length scales. A review of the field is presented with many examples.

Very complete listing of all Luger variations with enough detail to distinguish between similar models. With no background I was able to use the Handbook to identify my two Lugers by year and producer.

Very inaccurate in descriptions of various models, proofmarks, manufacturers, etc. The author does not even properly describe the basic operation of this type of weapon, he calls it a blowback when it is a recoil operated weapon. Such a basic error gives you some idea of the rest of the book. In defense of the book it is after all a handbook but it should be accurate.

This book was a disappointment in many respects, not because the title was a bad work, but because the book publisher bills it as something it is not: a guide for the beginner. Much of the key information needed by any beginner in this industry is left out or very lightly scratched on the surface.

While the title goes into great detail about protecting yourself once you are a snitch, who to snitch to for the best payout, how to keep from being "blown" and many other things, the most important information of all, that is "How do I approach an officer to begin my snitching career and which officer or agents (in a federal matter) should I contact?" is left for the reader to guess at.

It is the reviewer's belief that a person with no prior knowledge, after reading this book, that one would not walk away informed enough to make decisions that this occupation requires. Getting started is an all-important step that is totally missed here.

In defense of the title, snitches who are operating now should read the title as it provides a substantial amount of sound advice to ensure your safety and ability to keep the upper hand.

I was very dissappointed in this book. The author talks about ID making techniques in terms of equipment and techniques that have been outdated for at least 15 years. Either he is completely unfamiliar with modern digital typesetting or the book has not been updated for years.

Essentially, the book is worthless. I would never use any of the techniques he advocates, as the product would look completely amateurish, guaranteed.

Hoffer's essays are the best I have ever read on sociology. They are short, well organized and provide the deepest understanding of human nature. I hardly remember a thinker which could compete with Hoffer in this field.

This work contains a mixture of autobiography and philosophical and social reflection. Hoffer wrote ," My writing grows out of my life, just like a branch out of a tree" And his lifelong journey in learning was really integral to his own life. He began reading Montaigne and spent a lifetime reading more and learning all the time. He makes it clear here that he like most human beings fears change, but understands that to truly thrive from change one must learn, understood that those who rely on what they have learned long ago will have the world pass them. In other words he recommended that Societies like individuals be engaged in a continual process of learning and developing.
Hoffer was a one- of - a kind original. A truly decent person, who walked to the sound of his own drummer. Admirable in his anti- totalitarian stance and his refusal to be cowed by intellectual trend or fashion. He was a believer in American freedom , and an example of what a free - society can produce- at its best.

Eric Hoffers book, The True Believer is probolly the best book I have ever read. It gives insight into human nature that helped me understand the behavior of other people and even myself. It changed my view of the world I live in. Obviously it made a huge impact on me.

Because I was so impressed I quickly bought Hoffers other book The Ordeal of Change. I felt somewhat disapointd with this. I found it to lack the insight into human nature that his earlier work did. The Ordeal of Change seems to discuss how change occurs among a group of people rather than individuals. The True Believer discussed why individuals join groups, there was more emphasis on the individual than the group.

The book is still good. Perhaps I feel dispointed only because I cannot help but compare it to The True Believer which was a masterpiece. I still recomend this book but suggest that you read The True Believer as well.

I read this book (and most of his others) when originally published. No question but THIS IS HIS GREAT WORK. As his work went on, his lack of understanding of institutions (public and private) began to show his failure to fully grasp the implications. When he left what he knew so well, the relations of the workers, he moved so far that his later writing suffers from asute commentary based on incorrect facts and understanding, which require careful reading. But THIS BOOK should be REQUIRED READING -- PERHAPS MOST FOR DUBYA AND HIS CREW, WHO TOTALLY LACK UNDERSTANDING OF THE CONCEPT.

Managing Customer Value presents a simple yet powerful method to determine where your product falls relative to the competition with respect to quality and value. This exercise alone will most likely be an eye opener for any business. The book then provides the necessary steps that must be taken to shift the location of a product on the quality/value curve. Managing Customer Value is still highly relevant and best of all it is not that difficult to put into practice.

Dr. Bradley Gale is one of the world's leading authorities on the process of Value Mapping. Value Mapping is the technique of turning customer feedback from customers into powerful management tools that point the way to improve profits. Value Mapping is an excellent approach for industrial marketers to include in their arsenal of analytical tools. This book is filled with examples and framework templates that show you how to do it. The key for those of us in industrial marketing is getting the customer data. It's usually more difficult in industry, and there is often low or no funding available for market research. Once your company decides to stop "flying blind" this book can be exceedingly valuable as a handbook that covers to do with the information.

This book has much to recommend it - readable yet with somewhat of a quantitative approach to finding better ways to deliver value to customers.

Its' real worth is that it takes a view that requires the inclusion of the needs of the customer in the process of strategy development.

Too many books describe a process to improve the product or the supply chain without asking the most critical question - will anyone actually pay us for making these changes ?

If it has a (slight) shortfall, the book does not apply the same detail to integrating the needs of the customer to the decision making process. However, this is overcome by the sound way in which Gale seeks to assist us in finding ways to drive value for the customer.

Worth the investment - it does require some effort to read, but most worthwhile books are like that.

As a Political Science student at Trinity College, I have long been interested in political affairs. Mainly in theories, governments, wars, international security and the like. Then I took an insuperable International Political Economy course, the backbone of which was an unprecedentedly amazing teacher and this book! A book with words like Von Thunenization, with similes such as the state as mafia, and with an incredibly comprehensive insight into why things are going on in the way the are nowadays. A must for everyone who has ever been concerned with inequality, hegemony, but just very simply with economic issues.

This book is a very useful, if broad, guidebook for entering into global markets - sort of an International Business 101. It covers all of the necessary bases for planning to take a business overseas. It's heavy on exambles from the Middle East, but will help anyone develop a market entry strategy on the highest level for any foreign country.
