1 out of 5 stars Translator's English knowledge makes it impossible to read.......2005-12-29

I purchased the book as the contents promised a great overview of SAP SD processes.
Unfortunately, the book was written in German and translated by somebody who does not speak good English nor knows SAP.
This makes it virtually impossible to read it. Do not buy it!

Just some examples:
" The data determined by the system however can for the concrete individual case be changed or supplemented"

"In the scope of the scenario sale from stock to consignment taker the following R/3 components are to be integrated the best:

SAP terminology knowledge gaps:
"Sales path" = Distribution Channel???
"Sector" = Division?

Again, do not buy it!

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Buy this book and help stop the pain of bad meetings!.......2004-09-09

It is amazing what the real cost of meetings are. I'm not just talking about the aggregate cost to the business of the attendees salaries. What about the opportunity cost of the inability of a group to form a decision, let alone a good one?

It is within this context that John Tropman describes how to effectively and efficiently manage meetings. Mind you, this is not a book devoted to anecdotes and examples of bad meetings. No, this little gem delivers step-by-step instructions for creating a setting in which successful decisions are made. For example, most people will acknowledge the necessity of having an agenda, but have you thought about how topics should be structured within the agenda to enable quality decisions? When isn't the democratic ideal of one person, one vote a good approach to settle an issue? I was able to immediately use many of the items outlined in this book to improve meetings that I chair.

On the negative side, Part V, which is new with the second edition, seemed tacked on and out of place with the rest of the book. A minor point perhaps, but the last few pages were somewhat of a let down when compared to the first part. However, don't let that stop you from buying this book and ending the scourge of bad meetings

5 out of 5 stars Insightful and Useful.......2001-06-24

I found useful information on every page of this book. Modern business is round after round of meetings. There are too many meetings and far too few that are really useful. Dr. Tropman helps us focus on when and why and HOW to have meetings. He also gives us tools to decide what goes into the meeting and what to leave out.

Having wasted too many days of my life in these modern torture cells, this book came as a breath of fresh are. It is not only useful, it is a delight to read and implement.

              Book Description

In the decades before the Civil War, Charleston, South Carolina, enjoyed recognition as the center of scientific activity in the South. By 1850, only three other cities in the United States—Philadelphia, Boston, and New York—exceeded Charleston in natural history studies, and the city boasted an excellent museum of natural history. Examining the scientific activities and contributions of John Bachman, Edmund Ravenel, John Edwards Holbrook, Lewis R. Gibbes, Francis S. Holmes, and John McCrady, Lester Stephens uncovers the important achievements of Charleston's circle of naturalists in a region that has conventionally been dismissed as largely devoid of scientific interests.

Stephens devotes particular attention to the special problems faced by the Charleston naturalists and to the ways in which their religious and racial beliefs interacted with and shaped their scientific pursuits. In the end, he shows, cultural commitments proved stronger than scientific principles. When the South seceded from the Union in 1861, the members of the Charleston circle placed regional patriotism above science and union and supported the Confederate cause. The ensuing war had a devastating impact on the Charleston naturalists—and on science in the South. The Charleston circle never fully recovered from the blow, and a century would elapse before the South took an equal role in the pursuit of mainstream scientific research.

                    4 out of 5 stars Fun.......2007-02-08

Djinni-vera, last fertile virgin of the Royal Djinn, is well aware of Prince Tarrant-Arragon's reputation for lecherous depravity. All the Worlds are. She has been taught that he's evil and his government is corrupt. As a Suarian Knight, Djinni knows she must resist him at all costs and kill him if at all possible. What Djinni doesn't realize is that the man she calls Tigger; the man who abducted her and plans to marry her; the man she is falling in love with is actually her arch enemy Tarrant-Arragon. As the prince woos his chosen mate, Djinni finds that where she'd concerned, the "terror of the dodecahedrons" is just a big, sexy pussy cat.

Rowena Cherry weaves a marvelous, complex, and often funny story. FORCED MATE is full of plot twists, ironic turns of event, and steamy carnality. The closeness of the names (a lot of "Dj"s) and the amount of minor characters was a little confusing, but worth figuring out. I can hardly wait to read Djethro-Jason and Martia-Djulia's story INSUFFIENT MATING MATERIAL.

                    4 out of 5 stars Memorable.......2007-02-07

I first read this story of Emporer Heir Tarrant-Arragon and his half Earthling love Djinni-vera nearly two years ago and most of it stayed with me. Ms. Cherries characters are wonderfully fleshed out and vivid. From the slightly villanous but ultimately lovable hero, our honorable but slightly naive heroine, to secondary characters such as Grievous the ex-SAS officer that they pick up on Earth and Jason the secret and somewhat kinky prince who may take over Djinni and the empire. The writing definitely draws you in!

With the Djinn race that rules the galaxy nearly extinct, Tarrant-Arragon has been searching every moon, planet, and black hole for a woman he can someday call wife and empress. Meanwhile Djinni, the only young female left in a secret off shoot branch of the Djinn family has been hiding away on Earth and is promised to Jason a djinn prince whom she hasn't seen in years but was promised to as a child. Jason though has insinuated himself into Tarrant-Arragons troops, become the mans best freind, and is poised to take over the empire- though he doesn't realise that his lovely intended has been found, kidnapped, and married by Tarrant-Arragon.

It's a modern and spaceage twist on mistaken identies and royal intrigue with lot's of technology, great characters, and several Bond references thrown in. The story is sexy and funny and sad by turns and you'll find yourself wondering what will happen next. All in all it's a fun book that will stick with you long after you put it down.

4 out of 5 stars wonderfully crafted world!.......2006-11-09

Djinni is a Saurian Knight and, as such, considers Prince Tarrant-Arragon her sworn enemy. Betrothed to the seemingly innocuous J-J since she was a young child, Djinni has agreed to a vow of chastity until the marriage. Meanwhile, her Grandmama Helispeta has filled her head with horrid tales regarding the sexual prowess of the Great Djinn and the dire consequences of the rut-rage.

Prince Tarrant-Arragon wants to save the Great Djinn from extinction. His plan seems simple: abduct Djinni from Earth, force her to marry him, and carry on the Imperial bloodline. Identifying himself only by the nickname "Tigger" bestowed upon him by Djinni, Tarrant-Arragon begins a chess match of seduction to win the heart and soul of Djinni. Intrigue abounds, however, as Djinni's bethrothed, J-J, has yet to be revealed and assassins seek Tarrant-Arragon's death. Who will Djinni choose as her FORCED MATE?

FORCED MATE is not your typical science fiction/futuristic romance. Rowena Cherry has created a very complex world peopled with a wide cast of characters. The intricate details make this a very thoughtful read as the various pieces fit together to form a beautiful and elaborate tale. FORCED MATE is not a quick read as one must pay close attention to the nuances to truly appreciate Ms. Cherry's effort.

Prince Tarrant-Arragon presents an interesting mixture of traits. On one hand, he lives up to the sound of his name and is extraordinarily arrogant. However, his efforts to woo Djinni are endearing despite his apparent obsession with sex. Ever the chess player, Tarrant-Arragon's obsession with sex has a purpose beyond the obvious. However, this reviewer's favorite character is the human, Grievous, who plays a minor secondary role but injects a great deal of humor into the overall storyline.

FORCED MATE is a book that science fiction/futuristic fans will revel in! Rowena Cherry helpfully provides a family tree at the front of the book to assist readers with keeping the characters and their bloodlines separate. FORCED MATE is a compelling read that sucks the reader into the multilayered world crafted by Ms. Cherry. Kudos to Ms. Cherry for making this complex world come to life!

5 out of 5 stars very enjoyable read.......2006-10-13

I was given this book to read. I'm glad someone recommended it. It's a sassy fun book that really caught my attention and held it. The writer is Brit, I believe, so has that quirky Brit sense of humour that is so comfortable to me.

I highly recommend this book to males wanting a sexy story riddled with laughs and with a strong intelligence behind it. Looking forward to more books from this author.

4 out of 5 stars Loved the humour in this sexy Sci Fi book.......2006-08-27

I haven't read Science Fiction in years and received this book as a present.

The sense of humour in this book totally appeals to me. I liked the story line and was also happy that there is a Family Tree Page provided I referred back to it often, I have problems in remembering names and this is a useful guide to follow the somewhat involved family history and plot.

It sure is an action packed book and I highly recommend it, I will certainly read more of Rowena Cherry's books.
