This is a serious academic look by a number of respected authorities on the idea of shared leadership within teams. Its main merit is that it recognizes that executives cannot provide all the leadership that teams need in a complex, fast changing, knowledge driven world. But, we have had the concept of informal leadership for decades now, so shared leadership is really little more than a new name for an old idea. Indeed, their concept, like informal leadership, sounds a lot like shared management. Too bad we can't agree on how management and leadership differ as this confusion is infecting all our efforts to develop new ideas about leadership, ideas we badly need for the reasons Conger and Pearce rightly state - increasing complexity and pace of change.

This is the most far reaching analysis and treatment of the mechanics of the game that I have seen. It has value for the experienced golfer who understands enough to look for specific fixes for his/her own game, while having the same very basics that discuss the mysteries (nuances) of the game for those at the beginning of this utterly exasperating and pleasurable game.

This is the second book I've bought on golf games, the first being The Complete Book of Golf Games. I like this book better than the other one because of how it's organized, plus because it covers many more games. It's organized by the number of players, listing possible games that can be played by that number of golfers. When a game is duplicated, they give instruction of where to find the previous write up.

If you don't find something you like, you justaren't trying........2005-04-22
Most people have at some level, an interest or curiousity in things that are considered 'spiritual'. Philip Zaleski has selected an excellent collection of essays and poems that reflect a wide range of spiritual-related ideas, musings, stories and expressions.
The number of essays is over twice that of poems but the volume of writing in the essays is probably fifty-fold that of the poems, so if you are looking for poetry, this is not the best source.
Keep in mind that the group is of 'spiritual' writing and not 'Christian', meaning that from essay to essay, idealogies will vary so much that at times you will wonder why they are even in the collection. Viewpoints move from naturalism to Buddism to Catholicism and more.
I found some of the essays very interesting. What will appeal to a different reader? It's hard to guess. But any reader with the slightest interest in things spiritual or spiritual people or other cultures are sure to find something he likes here.

As I said, the poetry is a relativly minor part of the collection. But of what was included, very little appealed to me.
