...Most MBA schools require Econ as a prerequisite. I had the option to take the class, and spend several thousand dollars, or take two CLEP tests, one for Macro and one for Micro at seventy bucks a pop. You do the math.

I used this book as my main text, and found it easy to follow. It focuses on understanding, not intimidating details. In fact, it was probably the best text I ever encountered. I...

One drawback: No solved problems, or even problems to solve. ...I understood econ better than your average bear in two monthsý time.

Great book for people taking AP Macro or Micro Econ. I am not a math or econ person, but this book made it pretty easy to understand a lot of things. Beware though -- it doesn't follow the standard AP syllabus since it is really a college level review book.

Organisational change is no exception; such change is an empirical fact but the extant conventional literature largely fails to enhance our understanding of this phenomenon. Conventional theories, models and methods do not possess the means of facilitating real understanding for either practitioners or researchers.

This book is a contribution to the development of theory and method on organisational change through interactions with real people in real organisations. Grounded in a theory of reality, based on a particular conceptualising method, and illustrated with reference to real case studies, the authors explicate how to do both theory and method on organisational change in a novel, concise and very readable way. Reality is constructed by integrating four key dimensions: facts, logic, values and communication; these provide the material for the introductory chapters with the overall understanding of method emerging as one works through the remaining chapters. Insights from mainly continental philosophy and social science are used to illustrate the key arguments throughout. Conventional approaches are usually concerned with definitions and outcomes; in contrast this book strongly emphasises the change process itself, the discourse of change with respect to both real actors and observants, and how new realities are constructed. The book admirably fills the gap between the "what is" of conventional theory and "how to" of a much more pragmatic critically modernist approach to both studying and doing organisational change.

This study examines the interface of development performance and the bureaucracy, together with organizational and political behaviour. An analysis of development performance suggests that Indian bureaucracy has been neither `goal-directed' nor `action-oriented' as far as alleviation of poverty, the promotion of social equity and social development of the people are concerned. The author has collected wide-ranging data through interviews with officers of the Indian Administration Service at the central government secretariat and with officers from various states. He derives six important development-related behavioural orientations. Significant inter-relations between political behaviour and work behaviour also emerge.

An excellent text........2001-01-07

A well presented text on Organisational Behaviour. I personally found the text easy to follow. The coverage and content is fairly extensive. The graphics are good. In fact, the summary graphics are invaluable. The graphics use the concept of 'mindmapping' and therefore easy to mentally absorb the ideas. The case studies are British. The review and discussion questions and assignments are very useful in grasping the ideas and concepts explained in the chapters. The references are exhaustive and well listed. I have found satisfaction and enjoyment in having this book.

What are the alternatives to slash-and-burn in the Indonesian uplands? Based on fieldwork conducted in 1997 in some 40 small regions throughout Indonesia, as well as an extensive literature review, From Slash and Burn to Replanting, examines these alternatives.

Economic and ecological changes in Indonesia, were critical during 1997 and 1998. The currency and economic crisis struck city dwellers, while El Nino and forest clearing had devastating effects on rural areas. However, Indonesian smallholders showed some ability to adapt to changes, both to the unexpected windfalls from lucky export crops in 1998 and the no-less unexpected plunge in 1999 and 2000.

From Slash and Burn to Replanting finds that farmers in the uplands are true entrepreneurs and innovators. If alternatives do exist, they have been mostly invented and implemented from `below', by farmers and middlemen, rather than by projects and governmental agencies.

Kiesler does an admirable job weaving classic, Sullivanian interpersonal theory with contemporary perspectives, and provides a thorough review of the empirical bases for these views. Nice theoretical and empirical explanations of the circumplex models of personality and interpersonal behavior. This is a must-have resource guide that stands amazingly well on its own, and points to decades of work on the subject.

Great history, interesting people, beautiful boats.......2006-02-10

I first saw this book while having dinner on a friends boat. I liked it so much, especially since I used to sail on a Herreshoff boat when I was a kid, that I got my own copy. Its really well written, and the Herreshoff family is pretty amazing. Nat isn't ever going to make Father of the Year, but he really designed some great boats. His son Francis somehow survived his father and made his own great boats. This is a beautiful book, with lots of amazing photographs, and a great story too. I never knew about all the power boats that the Herreshoffs designed, or all the boats for the navy. I think even people who just want an interesting book to read with beautiful photographs would like this book.

Need Help with Verbs...Get this book.......2007-07-18

I have been studying Japanese for almost 2 years now in a classroom with Japanese for busy people. Although these are good books they lack detail in certain aspects such as verbs and particles. If I had Handbook of Japanese verbs from the start I think I would be almost fluent by now or well on my way to be. The book breaks down verbs to an easy to understand format with exercise and answers in the back so that you know if you got it correct. Overall a really good book and you can't beat the price for this kind of help.

Verbs are a major part of any language. This books shows conjugations and grammar points related to verbs. It's truly one of my favorite books for learning. I refer to it often when I want to say something. It's laid out well and easy to follow.

If you are white, male and like anime, you will want to learn Japanese so you can watch your favorite perversion in the native language.

You will not be able to understand any of it. Anime is too difficult for you to understand with just a couple of years of thumbing through JAPANEEZ 4 DUMMEEZ and awkwardly trying to hit on the Japanese exchange students with your lame pickup lines they can't understand.

This book is a good foundation to start learning verbs and, with diligent study, you can understand it when a Japanese girl who is offended by your flabby, greasy body and foul odor tells you to ______ off in Japanese.

I recommend this book to everyone who is studying Japanese. It's a compact, well organized, easy to understand grammatical reference text about verbs. When I purchased the book I had just completed my first textbook, and could only use the polite, -masu form of verbs. This book taught me how to conjugate all verbs, and taught me many grammatical constructions related to verbs. Each verb construction lesson has three examples (written in romaji and kanji, and translated into English), which are very helpful.

This little book will be quite handy as an overview -- after you read your primary Japanese textbook/self-study book, look through examples and try to get all the answers right. I personally use Japanese for Busy People series as primary study guide and The Handbook of Japanese Verbs is great addition. My 9 year old son loves these books and reads them over and over. But this one got a "not my favorite" from him. He still reads and likes it, but he said it is darker and scarier than the other ones. I think if he were 7 or a young 8 it might have bothered him more.

Hi. My name is Nicholas (I feel I should express my first name)and I purchased this book. This is totally awesome - they just keep getting better and better! It takes place after Bionicle Adventures #5 - Voyage of Fear. The Toa Metru work their way back to Metru Nui in it, and they face many dangers - such as the Karzahni. I rate it 5 stars because it is very good - no completely humungously good! This is an AWESOME job for Greg Farshtey (writer).
