This book would be perfect for any student of medicine or science.
It depicts the function and design of bones-throughout the body.
Many important facts about the anatomy of the body are depicted:
- cells repair damaged bone
- the inner ear is the origin of balance
- a child skull is greater than an adult proportionately
- the sacroiliac joints are mostly responsible for back pain
( Between the sacrum and pelvic bones , there are a few
millimeters of sliding masse at 1-2 degrees rotation )

- baby skull growth is driven by brain growth
- new bone growth is added at the edge of individual bones

This book is a flip-view of the interior corpus that shook me to my core -- and that's where my bones are. This is a great book. I can't imagine any true Tar Heel fan who would not want to own this book. Great, easy reading. Very informative. What a pleasure to know what some of these guys, especially the older ones have done with their lives. The only thing wrong with this book is it does not include more of the former players. Here's hoping for a sequel!! Bravo to the author!! If you don't yet own this book what are you waiting for!

As a fan of North Carolina basketball, Scott Fowler's new book is a must for all of us who follow UNC. The information provided on former players is very infomative and well written. It was great to see what these former players had done with their lives and their close ties to the UNC basketball program. This book is a trip down memory lane with additional information that is added to my memories of these players.

A great chance to catch-up.......2005-12-29

I have worked relatively closely with North Carolina basketball for more than a quarter-century and, have gained a great knowledge of the history of the program dating back to the beginning of the Atlantic Coast Conference. As a result, I had a blast reading Scott's book.

It brought back a lot of memories, and got me caught-up with a lot of the biggest names in Tarheel basketball history, as well as with some who may have been forgotten.

It's an easy read, and divided up nicely so that you can read little bits at a time if that's all time permits.

Enjoyable Tarheel Memories.......2005-12-20

I thoroughly enjoyed this book being a lifelong tarheel fan. It was interesting learning more about past heroes and also more recent players. I also thought it was good how Scott Fowler put in the personal tidbits about meeting up with these guys and what Dean and Gut (and Woody) had to say about them.

Being a Tarheel fan I could not put this book down until I finished in a very short period of time.

This book is great. I don't think I've ever gone to it and not found the word I was looking for. I wish it had a bit more pictures of some of the fabrics and such. But still, it is very good and there isn't one week that goes by that I don't reference it for one reason or another. I especially like that it offers origins of some textile words which is always interesting and helpful to know.

This is a great unique book for all textile related persons, it gives in details the perfect meaning of all the words used in todays textile field. I think this book is must for all textile related persons.

Dark Horse continues with their reprints of the classic Marvel Comics series CONAN THE BARBARIAN with the trade paperback THE CHRONICLES OF CONAN VOLUME 6: THE CURSE OF THE GOLDEN SKULL, reprinting issues 35-42. These stories are written by Roy Thomas, with art by John Buscema and one issue each by Neal Adams and Rich Buckler. They primarily feature Conan's adventures in Turan as a member of King Yildiz' Turanian army, in spite of the fact that Yildiz' son Yezdigerd, who is off conquering new lands to the east, wants Conan's head. Animated statues, wizards encased in gold, and palace intrigue are just a few of the challenges facing our favorite Cimmerian as he makes his way in the lands of so-called "civilized" men in the Hyborian Age.

After a questionable start with earlier volumes, the re-coloring finally serves to make the artwork look even better than originally presented. Some of that could be due to the fact that Barry Smith's art on the early Conan comics were either just too detailed or reprinted directly from pencils. In those cases, the colors completely overwhelmed Smith's art and made it almost ugly at times. In contrast, Buscema's heavier lines work much better with the re-coloring; however, his style is more generic. In any case, the wonderful art is unfortunately countered by careless re-lettering which often transposes letters or entire words, or omits them altogether. It's difficult to understand just why Dark Horse is having these kinds of quality control problems this far into the series.

Anyway, Roy Thomas' detailed notes in the back of the book provide interesting information on the creation of these stories, as well as some hilarious insights (Neal Adams is a sneaky guy). Dark Horse is providing all types of comic fans with a great service by putting these original Conan comics back in print... they just need to proofread them more carefully.
