Interview roles are less clear than they once were, and in some cases, the roles are even exchanged to promote new opportunities for understanding the shape and evolution of selves and experience.

Postmodern Interviewing offers readers an exploration of the postmodern interview, a conversation with diverse purposes in which the communicative format is constructed as much within the interview conversation as it stems from predesignated research interests. It provides cutting-edge discussions of emerging horizons, featuring reflexivity, poetics, and power, along with discussions of new ways of gathering experiential knowledge. Employing concepts from anthropology, family studies, history, and sociology, the contributors present the ambitious new directions in which the interview has gone, such as:

How the interview process is refracted through the lens of language, knowledge, culture, and difference
How the dividing line between fact and fiction is blurred to promote richer understanding
How standardized representation has given way to representational invention

This volume is comprised of chapters from the Handbook of Interview Research (Gubrium and Holstein, SAGE, 2001). The companion volume, Inside Interviewing (SAGE, 2003), is also comprised of chapters from the Handbook.

I read this book for a master's level class and it is by far the most plodding book I have had to read all year. It is so stiff that my instructor advised us to read a little every day just to get through it because it would frustrate us if we tried to read it all at once. He was MORE than right about the ease of reading.

If you want to know anything about paleopathology, this is the book you want to use. It is easy to understand and great as a reference book. The authors cover every aspect of pathology from bone to soft tissue...definitely a must-have if you need the best pathology reference book out there.

I have read a few books on Bobby Jones including his book Down the Fairway and this is definitely one of the better books about Jones. Well written with a different and interesting look at the life of Jones on and off the course. If you are an admirer of Bobby Jones this book is a must read and will make you admire and respect Jones more than ever before.

Need to know the basic language.......2006-11-10

Definately not for a beginner! I found this book very confusing. I bought it with another audio cd in hopes of learning a new language, but I was lost at the very first page.

Guts of Gaelic Grammar: Short & Simple.......2006-02-02

No language course has ever, can, or ever will be comprehensive enough to cover EVERY aspect of learning a "tongue" that is not one's primary form of communication. Even the most encompassing language acquisition programs need supplemental materials. McGonagle's "Irish Grammar: A Basic Handbook" is one such essential supplement that is easily used in tandem with any and every Irish Gaelic Program available today. McGonagle cuts to the chase, guts out all the superfluous grammar gooble-de-goop, and serves up a grounding in grammar necessary to grasping the Irish Gaelic Language. The fundamentals are dished up in "bite size" portions, and is an easy to use reference guide for beginner and "brush-up" students alike. The only negative observation that needs to be mentioned about the "Handbook" is that it does not come with an Audio CD so a novice can hear the examples of various points and vocabulary, perferably spoken by "Native Speakers." Maybe future editions could include an audio CD or two.

My main Irish text is Learning Irish by Michael O'Siadhail. I use this book to get someone else's view on certain grammar points.
If you're going to learn a language I highly recommend that you first read How to Learn Any Language. Once you've done that you'll find that a book like Irish Grammar easily fits into that learning framework.
This book helps you to start to sort out why the Irish you've been reading in the newspaper is aranged the way it is. You'll begin to make a little more sense of the use of verbs, for instance.
It's a good basic grammar. However, no grammar book should ever stand alone.

Very incomplete.
e.g., the section on nouns mentions declensions, but neither defines nor enumerates the declension.
The imperfect tense is shown, but the difference between imperfect and past tenses is not mentioned.
Pronunciation (which definitely affects the grammar, e.g., the -f- of the future tense) is ignored (outside of the distinction between slender and broad consonants).

Good basic grammar.......2001-05-17

This book is excellent for beginners who are wanting a book that gives basic grammar without all the extra information that confuses beginners. The book is well laid out, with information very easy to find. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is that it is a little too brief. A few more examples of how the grammar works would have improved it greatly.

This is the new-old fashioned book of paper dolls with dress ups - they are easy to press out of the card as they are pre cut and there is a sweet little wardrobe in the book at the end where you can store all the dresses etc

a couple of dolls means that your girls can play more than one game at the time

this is abotu felicity a fairy who trys to get spring to come early - however she goes around with her wand and ends up freezing cold - it takes the spring fairy, Floella, with her specially heated wand to do the job you see.

The story is a bit weak, but the illsutrations are nice and colourful, there is some lovely extra details, all the wings have glitter on them and even some of the dresses and linings of the clothing.

It makes a very bright and nice book to look at but my girls aren't really interested in the story, it is not that strong.

I remember playing with paper dolls when I was young but we didn't ahve as many dolls as you can get now, so I think my daugthers find these more of a novelty than a toy to play alone. They play with them occassionally but do enjoy just flicking through and looking at the pictures in the book. So it is a successful book from that point of view.
