The increasing significance of the OECD in the development of national education policies has received much attention in recent years. Although it is recognised that certain international agencies such as the OECD as key 'globalising agencies', have acquired the capacity to 'persuade' nation states towards certain policy priorities, little attention has been paid to making clear how these processes of persuasion may work.

This volume investigates such processes, drawing on a study of the relationship between the OECD and educational policy directions in Australia. It investigates the link between three elements of education policy - the nation state, the OECD, and globalisation. These links are explored through case studies in higher education and vocational education and training policy developments, drawing on the Australian experience. The book also generates questions about educational purposes and decision making in the contemporary contexts which have wider applicability.

The only study guide you'll need for microbiology.......2007-01-30

This book was excellent for my undergraduate microbiology class needed for a nursing program. It was by far the best study guide I found and really helped to summarize the information in an easy to understand manner before I tackled the reading in my textbook. It was also a great review for the exams and had lots of questions to test yourself on your understanding of the material. This book really helped make my study time more efficient and I did get an A in my class. There are some mistakes in the book, which is why I didn't give it 5 stars. I also used Microbiology Study Guide by Dr. Leonardi, which is excellent, but if you can only buy one study guide, this is definitely the book to buy.

Good review for microbiology.......2003-04-18

This book covers a lot of subject area for microbiology. This is a very good reference book. I used this book for my undergraduate microbiology class along with the following:

These 2 books helped me to get an "A" in my class. The second book which I also got on amazon.com is so specific to the type of questions I saw on my test. I was recommended the microbiology study guide by a friend in med school who used it for his USLME exam and found it quite helpful.

An added feature is the inclusion of building plans for nineteen boats designed for this book and suitable for amateur building.

Don't let my three star rating turn you away from this book. It is well written, complete in every sense of the word and well illustrated. I gave it three stars because I found other books on this subject to be more readable and easier to use as a guide and reference. This is a text book style work and it has a great place in all the books on boatbuilding. It is a fine work, but then, I must ask you, how many fine books can there be? What if I said that this was yet another fine boat building book...then what? This book makes a wonderful reference. It makes an excellent text book. It is useful if you have more than two people working on a hull (one to read aloud and the other to work). But it is not an easy, cook book on boat building. I recommend it, But there are other books out there that are better sources of information for the home builder.

What About the Designs?.......2002-09-11

I agree with the other (positive) reviewers--not an easy read, but well worth the investment in time. My favorite part of the book, though, has not been mentioned. Mr. Chapelle includes a number of sample designs--wonderful classics from a rowing peapod to a large commercial fishing boat. If you have some solid boat building experience, the plans are complete enough to build from, with a little eyestrain. For historical purposes, these designs complement those in American Small Sailing Craft, another worthwhile book by H.I. Chapelle. There is also an interesting, though too brief, section on choosing a design.

The reference on wooden boatbuilding.......2002-05-08

Pure and simple.

I'm a professional, doing repairs on wooden workboats and I do refer to it whenever I'm stumped. Not the easiest read, not completely user-friendly.....well, I'll let you in on a little secret; neither is boatbuilding.

Some have whinged about the terms, some have groused about the old-style construction methods. Well, there are certain terms that are used for certain things and you are not knowledgeable unless you can use and understand them. Learning them is part of learning the trade. Study!

Tremendous detail, wide variety of different methods covered. Chapelle was a NA/ME and a skilled designer in his own right and it too shows. Highly recommended.

Classic book for those interested in tratidition.......2001-11-02

This is a classic book for those interested in traditional boatbuilding techniques and old-fashioned robust design. Plywood and epoxy was not an issue in 1941 and the author assumes the reader has some common knowledge on woodworking, joinery and how boats are put together. This is a "handbook" only if you want to build a historic craft. For the rest of us it is a great book to read again and again while we compare old and modern styles and methods.

Great movie and great book.......2005-11-07

Ok so Yu-gi-oh the movie wasnt as good as Pokemon the first movie. But it still gave everybody a chance to see him on the big screen. Now onto the book. First of all i cant believe some of you people just buying this for the card. It is great i watched the movie and read the book at the same time. It is like having the script of the movie with all the pictures. It is great. And for some people who say the god card included is a fake, i have some news for you...its not. This is the only official U.S.A Slifer and it comes in this book, Ra you can only get in the x-box game and the only way to get obelisk is to subscribe to Shonen Jump(But i think they dont have that anymore). As for Ultimate dragon i heard a rumor it will be in the first shonen jump of 2006.

P.S. The other good thing is all the full color pictures!!!

Faithful Adaptation of a Mediocre Movie..........2005-08-26

Let's go by the numbers, shall we? What do you get in this book?

1. Slifer the Sky Dragon, one of the three coveted "God Cards." Of course, you can't use this in a duel. So, it's basically eye candy.

2. A faithful adaptation of movie. It's in full color and looks pretty.

I just wish that the movie was really something more compelling. When I saw it in the theaters, I was amazed and aghast at how much dialogue was spent explaining why a certain card or combinations thereof spelled the other player's doom.

I'd recommend it only for the younger Yu-Gi-Oh fans, as well as anyone who wants a God Card. Other than that, I'd recycle it.

Like the film it is based on, this ani-manga will not convert anyone who is not already a fan. And it frustrates many fans with its careless exploitation of a previously rather well-designed series. Buy it for your kids, or if you simply MUST have every YGO item out there. Otherwise leave it alone.

This book is what its title says: it is for companies that are ready to go for the gold, the profitabilty associated with satisfied customers who tell others and buy again and again. It is a complete, wholistic approach to customer satisfaction that knocked my socks off. Of course,you will ask customers about their satisfaction. What Sheila Kessler adds to this formula is that you have to have a large radar screen to get the information that will make a difference. Have you talked with customers who have left? Do you know that if you do, they may return? What systems do you have for picking up customer compliments and complaints? Do you act vigorously to let your customers know they have been heard?
