I've been using this book for several years now. And each year I buy copies for our farm interns and staff. I think the book does a great job of showing various pieces of equipment with the how and why it works. The vignettes of farmers who use those tools is very helpful in offering a three dimensional real life picture of how the tool may or may not work on our farm. Great book, one we refer to often for ideas and to make sure we all have the same "picture" in our heads of what a tool can and might do.

nice attempt but should take statistics 101 first.......2006-12-14
I was quite enthusiastic about this book and went to evaluate it for one my introductory courses for graduate students in biomedical sciences. However, the author's understanding about hypothesis testing is COMPLETELY WRONG, and I am afraid that his understanding on many other basics is problematic. It is a shame that Blackwell even publish this book without getting reviews from a real statistician.
Having said all above, I think that this book does organize the materials in a nice way from perspective of experimental biologists. a serious revision in collaboration with an academia statistician could turn it into a great textbook.
A p-value is NOT the probability that the null hypothesis is true!.......2006-12-03
It is sadly suprising and disturbing to learn (from the book's excerpt pages) that a book claiming it is capable of choosing and using statistics is a 100% wrong about what a p-value represents, or better yet, does NOT represent.
Relief for those who don't speak in equations.......2002-10-18
This is a great, practical book for ecological and evolutionary researchers. Dytham walks you through the choosing and using of different common statistical applications. If you can't find it in here, you probably have an advanced question that requires a mathematical answer, in which case it's time to dust off that heavy textbook. For most questions, this will save you time and frustration.

After too many books with a useless wealth of equations to leave you in a worse confusion here is finally a book to give you hints and tools to tackle the problem. Good coverage of both parametric and less known non-parametric statistics, modern approach through coverage of popular packages, keys to choose the various tests and lots of examples and hints for the experimental design. Generally a complete book which manages to cover with a sensible balance from the basics to more complicated designs for ANOVA evaluations.

This book is complete and informative, albeit a little hard to read. Horses have many different dietary requirements: fiber, fat, vitamins, minerals, protein... and Karen Briggs doesn't create any charts or guides to help you figure out which elements are likely to be lacking in your particular horses diet. Instead, try "Beyond the Hay Days" which provides equally detailed and comprehensive information as well as helpful summary charts that help you understand what your equines diet might be lacking and how best to suppliment it.

Another reviewer describes this book as, "thorough". That is an understatement!
If you want to know the intricate details of Polish verbs and the conjugations of the most common, look no further. In fact, it is so thorough at times, it can be intimidating, especially if you are learning the language outside a classroom setting.
For example, the frequentive aspect is treated for appropriate verbs despite the admission that, "The frequentive aspect is hardly ever used now." Jumping from Germanic to Slavic languages was tough enough for me, without having to ignore seldom used aspects of the language which appear alongside the parts I want/need to focus on.

I bought 301 Polish Verbs to supplement an intensive beginning Polish course, and I am very pleased with this book. The verb charts are quite helpful, and I transferred many of them to flashcards to help me study.
The crucial difference between 301 Polish Verbs and its predecessor, 201 Polish Verbs, is that (in addition to the extra 100 verbs) 301 Polish Verbs includes a long introduction that includes solid yet brief explanations of the grammar not only of verbs but also of the different cases that the verbs take.
The verbs are grouped into verb groups that are all listed under the same single heading verb. The perfective and imperfective form of the verb, as well as other related verbs with the same verb "root", are all listed on a single page. This grouping is helpful for learning that all these verbs are related and their tenses work the same way. However, the groupings can make it difficult to look up a particular Polish verb, as the verbs are listed alphabetically by the heading verb, and one must check multiple indexes to find out which heading verb it is listed under.
The example sentences at the bottom of each page are very helpful to illustrate the usage of the different verbs in context and to "see" how the verbs take different objects in different cases. However, I would have liked there to be more example sentences--some verbs (though not "heading" verbs) do not even have a single example sentence.
Great for Poles, Too!.......2006-11-14
My Polish teacher had me order several of these books for her other students after she saw my verb book. Apparently, a book of similar quality and scope does not even exist in Poland, or at least she didn't know of one that was so clear and easy to use. I'm still a beginner, so I'm only using present tense. But the index is great, as it has both English and Polish verbs indexed. Perhaps the book could be a bit smaller, and for some verbs (such as wiesic, i think (wiem, wiesz, wie, etc.) these are not clearly conjugated in the main section. Still, this book is a necessary supplement to my Polish textbook and lessons.
I guess the only thing that might improve this is a CD-ROM!

THIS IS A WONDERFUL BOOK FOR HELP ON CONJUGATION OF POLISH VERBS. EVRYTHING YOU COULD WANT TO KNOW IS IN THIS BOOK. THE SEMI-LARGE PRINT IS ALSO A VERY NICE FEATURE. IT IS EASY TO READ AND THERE IS NO CONFUSION BETWEEN LETTERS THAT CAN LOOK ALIKE. 301 POLISH VERBS IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

When I've gone to lawyers to have paperwork done such as wills, I've had the idea that they have a standard form in their word processing system. First they talk to you (at $100+ per hour) and ask you a bunch of questions. I think your answers are used to fill in the blanks in their word processing system.
Now there are computer programs like this one that take a particular area of the law and produce the forms you need. This one is obviously oriented to wills (duh, look at the name), it includes legal wills, living trusts, health care directives (living wills) powers of attorney, final arrangements documents, and forms for executors. Because it is a commercial product, it has been produced to the highest possible standards (for fear of law suits).
Note: Do not use this product in Louisiana which bases its legal system on the Napoleanic code rather than English Common Law.
