Book Description
The Ivey Casebook Series is a co-publishing partnership between SAGE Publications and the Richard Ivey School of Business at The University of Western Ontario. Due to their popularity in more than 60 countries, approximately 200 new cases are added to the Ivey School of Business library each year. Each of the casebooks comes equipped with instructor’s resources on CD-ROM. These affordable collections will not only help students connect to real-world situations, but will benefit corporations seeking continued education in the field as well.
Cases in Operations Management: Building Customer Value Through World-Class Operations is unique in its strong grounding in real-world decisions. The cases are structured into six chapters, each of which offers an overview of key concepts. Given that most managers will need to function effectively in an international context, the cases draw from challenges faced by experienced managers in such varied settings as China, France, India, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Trinidad, Vietnam, and others, in addition to the United States and Canada. These cases continue to illustrate basic concepts while expanding students' understanding of economic, political, and cultural concerns that must be interwoven into such key areas as process design, quality, and supply chain management.
The following are represented in this casebook:
- Strong decision orientation of real-world cases
- Clear development of the link between business processes and customer value
- Diversity of international case settings Mixture of cases, simulations, and in-class exercises
- Includes Instructors Resources on CD-ROM with detailed 6-10 page casenotes for each case, preparation questions for students to review before class, discussion questions, and suggested further readings.

Spirit-Transformation and Development in Organizations.......2007-06-03
This book is about Spirit, and the ways in which Spirit transforms and develops in organizations. The intent is not that organizations become more spiritual, but rather that we might recognize that organizations in their essence are Spirit, and then get on with the important business of caring intelligently and intentionally for this most critical and essential element.
Perceiving the centrality of Spirit in our organization is not as strange of difficult as it may appear. Indeed, every person who has ever found occasion to remark that, "The spirit around this place is terrible," or "Got to keep the spirit up" or, "Our spirit is our most important asset," has already made the connection. The problem, however, is that we typically do not have much more to say, and worse than that, we apparently possess very little in the way of appropriate technology in order to do something with, or for Spirit.
Until recently, "doing something with Spirit" may have appeared less than a serious pursuit, and if the technology was lacking, the loss was not consequential. But as the pace of our world has speeded, and the competitive edge narrowed, high performance and the attainment of excellence are no longer just nice, they have become essential. And whatever else high performance and excellence may be based on, they would seem to have something to do with the quality of Spirit ... human Spirit, our Spirit, the Spirit of our organization.

A review of basic arithmetic precedes clear explanations of how nurses need to apply mathematics in modern clinical practice. This study guide teaches an especially easy approach to solving the proportion problems key to converting medication orders and passing nursing licensing exams. The profusion of problems with detailed solutions, and hundreds more with answers, gives students ample opportunities to test their skills as they learn them--leading to quicker mastery.
Customer Reviews:
Great Book.......2007-06-23
Nursing students -- This is the book you must have if you want to really learn the concepts behind the math you will be expected to do on a daily basis in both school and clinicals. This book has great explanations, and lots of study questions to hone your new skills.

The south-central United States--Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, and Oklahoma--harbors several dozen federally administered wildlife refuges, 41 of them open to the public and profiled in this guidebook. Some, such as Kansas's Flint Hills National Wildlife Refuge, abound with diverse populations (in this case, more than 40,000 ducks and 200,000 geese that follow the Neosho River flyway) and are easily accessible to visitors. Others, such as Missouri's Big Muddy National Wildlife Refuge, are spearheads for the reintroduction and protection of threatened species, such as the beaver and the pallid sturgeon. Still others are fragmented remnants of once-widespread habitat types, among the last of their kind. All offer rewards to the visitor, and Bill Palmer's well-written book provides directions for how to get to the area's wildlife refuges and what to do and look for once you get there. --Gregory McNamee

Book Description
This book is an informative account on profitable ways to handicap juvenile and maiden races through sire and trainer profiles, breeding and workout information. First of its kind to throughly cover baby races, juvenile horses and older maidens.
Customer Reviews:
Quality piece of dump.......2007-09-28
This book has a great title and the backing of the DRF; that's where the quality stops. The author is a young kid with little gambling experience, but it really seems like he spent more time on the computer than at the track. He gives you page after page of data that can probably be put into a 2 page spread sheet.
Not worth $5, let alone $20
Productive and well written.......2006-03-12
Picking a winner from a race where nobody has won before is inherently difficult, and picking winners from entries that have never raced before can be even more difficult. Illman effectively presents material on how to approach these tasks by presenting examples of numerous angles and factors and how statistically significant they have been. I believe that by using some of the ideas here, a handicapper can generate an edge on the masses.
betting maidens and 2 year old.......2005-07-20
This book was a disappointment.
It was more of a historical account of specific horses and races rather than a how to as it proclaimed.
It was very hard to follow and I kept waiting for him to get to the point. Very boring and monotonous.
Geared more to juveniles than 3yo+ maidens... .......2005-06-09
Dan Illman's first book for DRF Press is a nice companion to Lauren Stich's Pedigree Handicapping, also from DRF Press. While Ms. Stich's work focuses more on overall pedigree, Illman's piece has a distinct tilt towards win early types, which is helpful with early season racing at Keeneland, Belmont and Churchill Downs particularly. This one will help you more for analyzing the stallion side of the pedigree, but I would have liked to have seen more on the wider range of maiden races, including maiden claiming races and greater analysis of turf racing.
Use this one to supplement the Stich book rather than as a starting place.

Street Spanish 3: The Best of Naughty Spanish.......2006-02-23
What to interpret the street words from patients? They are all here and designated by country.
Street Spanish 3.......2005-10-14
I was somewhat disappointed to find out that this book is remarkably similar (nearly identical) to Street Spanish 2. Had I known this, I certainly would not have purchased 3.
Street Spanish.......2002-05-23
Although I honestly do not have this book, I just wanted to put to rest those who may find a few mistakes here and there in textbooks. Get over it! This is life, sweetheart. Having worked in a newspaper (two of them), mistakes such as these are common. More common than we'd like to admit.
I bought the older edition of Street Spanish (1991), and I was impressed. Not only that, but my SPANISH PROFESSOR FROM ARGENTINA HIGHLY COMMENDED THE BOOK. IN FACT, SHE AND I HAD BROUGHT OUR COPIES TO THE UNI ON THE SAME DAY, UNKNOWINGLY. She saw my copy on my desk and showed me hers. And it obviously was something she carried around a lot, because she had it along with her other items in her briefcase.
Like I said, I haven't seen his latest edition, but that definitely spoke volumes for me when she said it was a very good book.
I love the book. Wish they actually sold tapes along with the books now a days. It is very hard to find any spanish book besides Arriba (and only if you buy it new then), that comes with tapes. They usually sell it separately, or it costs a fortune and a dime.
Toodles
Way too many mistakes!.......2001-06-26
THe author's literal translation of, "echar los perros" is, "to throw dogs".The book even has a picture of a man with a sack full of dogs that he is throwing at a girl.He tells us that it means to flirt. The literal translation is, "to sick the dogs on...(a girl, guy, etc.)"It means to court,woo...(a girl, guy, etc.) He sais that conejo, rabbit, is a bad word in Mexico. It may be a bad word in another country, not in Mexico.I found a bit too many mistakes when it comes to Mexican slang that it makes me question the entire book.
A Must Have For Any Spanish Student :P.......2001-05-03
I took three years of Spanish in High School and am currently taking a few Spanish classes at college. I found this book very entertaining and it definately added to my vocabulary in a way that not many Spanish teachers are willing to teach :) I was so happy with this book, I am going to go get the first two.

Small Houses.......2007-07-12
I am going to build a small house and found great ideas in this book. I like this book a lot.
Save your money.......2006-02-28
If you want a picture book to leaf thru, I guess it's okay. As far as practical ideas, forget it. Most of the homes here are very site-specific, and most are multi-story. I didn't really see any innovations or adaptable ideas that I could actually use in my own home construction, which was why I bought it.
New Material.......2002-05-29
Fine Homebuilding does a great job of highlighting unique architecture. My only wish is that it wouldn't get recycled over and over again in hardcover. My plea is for Fine Homebuilding is to keep searching out fabulous homes to keep it fresh. My admonishment is to Taupin Press for boring it's very attentive audience. I now look through a book before I purchase it, I usually find that I already own 20-30 of the pics that I find interesting.
WOW.......2000-05-21
I just love the small(?) houses in this book. I'm one of those people that dream of one day being able to build my own home, and therefore have numerous books and magazines with house plans. This book is the best by far that I have. The plans and pictures in this book are just brilliant. I love the fact that most of the houses are different to the normal square or rectangular shape that is so prevelent these days. All though most of the houses in the book aren't really that small, at least not to me, there are some wonderful designs. The detail provided about each design is thorough. The Energy-Efficient Houses and Craftsman-Style Houses books are terrific as well.
one of the best books on small houses.......1999-08-04
This book has a wide variety of different homes-- which to me didn't seem that small. The plans as well as a description of primary concerns in design are often included. Best of all, many of these homes were designed on a budget of about $100,000, which makes these houses seem much more inspiring and realistic to the potential home builder. I'd never thought of designing my own home until I saw this book, but now it's one of my hopes for the future.
