Great roadmap for entrepreneurs.......2006-01-31
I started a service business and it grew rapidly, and hit some turbulence along the way. I found out about Dr Adizes and got his books, and was amazed at how he nailed it with my company and what we were going through. It was like looking in a mirror. The book was great, and we even hired some of their consultants to help us navigate a path, and it certainly helped to get us on the right path again. I am very impressed with this guy and his team, and think he has done a great service to identify the common path entrepreneurial companies follow -- and the path they need to take to survive and continue to prosper.

The following comments were sent to the Adizes Institute. They are solicited testimony. All comments are exact wording of the views of the readers:
"His thinking is not done in an Ivory Tower but on the street. I have built several companies and there are phenomenal resonance. He takes up the cardinal issues. Using his thought is as real as anything I've ever done."
DUDLEY G. BOYD, Fidelity Business Alliance

"Remarkably constructive advice for executives dealing with change. Adizes' framework enables top managers to see the kind of changes their companies may need and how to get there."
PROFESSOR WILLIAM H. NEWMAN, Professor Emeritus Columbia University Graduate School of Business,
"This book is a lighthouse which shows the position of the boat and leads the organization to its Eden. Extremely practical."
DANIEL LEE, Head, Marketing and Sales NE Asia, CibaVision Taiwan
"The Pursuit of Prime" is eminently accessible and chockfull of both visionary insights and practical lessons on leading the enterprise. Thoughtful, riveting, and intellectually compelling, this helpful leadership primer should represent great `take home value' for lay entrepreneurs and captains of industry alike."
ED SAVAGE,Chairman, Stanton Chase International
Los Angeles, California
"Adizes has done it again! As with his earlier books, truly remarkable insights are combined with real-world action steps which show how to use them in a wide variety of organizational situations. He goes beyond the often superficial, quick-fix suggestions of so many of today's "how-to-do-it" manuals and goes to the heart of what is needed and how to make it happen."
DR. E. KIRBY WARREN,Professor and Director, The Management Institute, Columbia Graduate School of Business
"Adizes is not only the best, but the only business philosopher who provides comprehensive solutions to complicated problems. The rest of the business literature fails when compared to his work. You don't need to read anything else!"

A guide for the Companies reach PRIME.......1997-04-23
Every day a new book is published in the area of organizational transformation, but only a few have significant value and can help the companies to reach the prime. This is the subject of "PURSUIT OF PRIME", the last book of Ichak Adizes PH.D.,a famous consultant, based in USA, with 30 years of experience and success, in the USA and other countries, in the organizational transformation area.
The Pursuit of Prime wrote in an easy to read language and according Adizes Methodology, gives to the companies's leaders a "HOW TO" guide to reach or keep their companies to the maximum vitality, creativity, proftability, performance and commitment, called PRIME by Adizes.
Considering that every change ( they are allways occuring) causes a problem, for each stage of the organization's lifecycle, Adizes shows what is a normal and an abnormal problem and what we have to do in terms of style of manegement, structure, strategy, staffing, rewards and planning and goals, to correct or to avoid the abnormal problems.
This is a great book to be used like a tool for all leaders that want to transform their companies, big or small, in benchimarking-"TOP OF ALL".

Customer Reviews:
Great book, great price.......2005-02-03
I took this book on a recent research trip to a preserve near La Selva, and used it daily. Not just a field guide with pretty pictures, this book contains a key to the species. Since it is specific to this area of the country, it cut down on the amount of material that had to be sorted through to ID organisms. I could quickly key out species without having to worry about whether or not this was the right area for that particular species. The photos were clear and beautiful, with different color phases and sexual dimorphisms illustrated. If you are traveling to this specific area of Costa Rica, this book is really useful. It's small, lightweight, easy to use, and CHEAP!

Wonderful Pictures to help guide your trip!.......2004-01-04
I preferred this book over some of the others that I bought because it had photos to associate with the places. The Bradt book might give more detail, but I am the type of person who finds specific places to travel to by the pictures. And, even though the pictures are great, they dont even compare to the views of the places in reality.
Great Book!
one of the worst guidebooks I've ever bought.......2001-12-16
I wouldn't normally be so harsh on a book, but this one was really bad in almost every respect. First, there is no indication at all in this book of how expensive Kampala has become over the last decade, so I ended up taking not enough money and had to have my parents wire me cash over Western Union. Not that the book would have helped in that regard, of course, because there is no information in the guidebook about Western Union or how to get cash to Uganda.
In a section at the back of the book there is a list of hotels with, of course, no prices listed, and, while the authors list theatres, tour operators and even libraries, they conveniently leave out restaurants. There is also an extensive list of wildlife species although, without any pictures to help you identify the animals, I don't know how this is supposed to help anyone. In the language section there is a helpful English-Kiswahili section, which is nice except for the fact that Luganda is much more widely spoken in Kampala, Entebbe and central Uganda than Kiswahili.
Additionally, there is a massive lack of good maps here: the map of Kampala is so small it doesn't even cover the centrally located Rubaga cathedral and the map of Uganda lacks so much detail that it is almost impossible to use it for driving. (This in a country where street signs are almost non-existent.) These bad maps are inexcusable in any guidebook but even more so here where the authors have inserted large numbers of full-page color photographs.
Finally, the binding on the book started falling apart only weeks after I purchased it. All in all, a really bad guidebook.
history, people.......2000-02-08
i want to review the history of uganda, take note on the people, traditions, various places.
It's the only book that would make the cut next time........2000-01-12
Seriously. If I could have left the other 4 books - including Museveni's Sowing the Mustard Seed - behind, I surely would have. Well organized and researched, this title kept me informed and entertained far beyond my expectations. Though I'm not often one for juicy four-color photos in my guide books, even those were welcome. Enjoy this great guide and enjoy your trip!

Book Description
As the number of people involved with horses increases, the importance of having the correct equipment and using it properly plays a major part in the enjoyment and safety of both horse and rider. This fully illustrated book cuts through the confusion the array of horse tack and equipment available today can cause.
Readers will find clear, concise guidelines and detailed case studies for the use, care and maintenance of all major items of tack, clothing, stable and other equipment, both traditional and modern. They'll have no doubt as to just what saddles, bridles, headcollars, halters, schooling aids, boots, and bandages they need. Inside they'll find:
-A completely international guide to the range of horse tack and equipment available today; -Sound advice on the right items for riders, their horse and their particular requirements; Fascinating case studies highlighting how incorrect use of certain horse equipment can have disastrous results
Over 20 years ago, Susan McBane founded the Equine Behavior Forum with Dr. Moyra Williams and still helps to run it on a voluntary basis. She has had a lifelong involvement with horses and academic interest in life sciences. A professional writer, editor, lecturer and consultant, she also teaches a classical, holistic method of riding, which is highly popular with her clients and their horses.

Good basic overview.......2007-09-15
on various pieces of equipment, their use, how to fit them, when to use/not use them. Of course, as with all horsemen, there will be short sections you may disagree with. I did enjoy the section on saddles, but DO NOT buy this book if you are in need of a comprehensive overview of bits (which could fill its own book), as this is very brief in discussing the main types but does not really go into great detail.

Must have for pilots. One of the best FAA preparation books around........2006-07-04
Even at first glance, you can tell that it's a well made textbook. Just over one and a half inches thick, it's chock full of useful information. Every chapter has explains its learning objectives, and there is NOT A SINGLE PAGE that is without full color illustrations. There are so many diagrams, drawings, and helpful illustrations; all of which are context specific and aid the text very well.
The best part is, none of it is boring. All instructional text is very clearly explained. You are told the how's and the why's of FAA regulation, and there a huge amount of interesting historical aviation reference.
Most of the time, when you are passionate about something, and you want to learn more, you will seek out books and schooling. And then you are handed these huge dull textbooks that, that bore and suck the passion out of you until you just want to quit. This is not the case with this book. You will find that this book will impress, surprise and enjoyably give you what you need to know. By the end of it, you will be well educated and excited to fly.
Excellent, if FAA-specific, book........2001-07-04
The Instrument Commercial Manual is unquestionably one of the best volumes written to take a student from PPL to CPL/ATPL level. The many illustrations, explanations and pull-outs serve their purpose well. However, given the amount of theoretical material in the book, it may be less useful for non-FAA students. If you're studying for the European JAR ATPL, or any other non-US licence, you might want to look for a different text. Nonetheless: Highly Recommended for all FAA students!
Jeppesen Instrument/Commercial Manual.......1999-12-15
An excellent reference for the student all the way to the airline pilot. This is the best aviation book I have seen published in years. It has great pictures, illustrations, examples, and quizzes that will challenge any pilot. This book is a must for every pilot. Period.
Great Classroom Textbook.......1999-11-21
This book is a great teaching/learning tool. There is a picture or pictures on almost every page to emphasize the text.
It simplifies the learning process by explaining everything in great detail and not in a dry way either.
I love this book. What I have said here does not do this book justice. You have to read it for yourself. We use this book here at Purdue University in our Aviation Program.

Book Description
Start with a healthy aerobic workout. Add the fun of dancing. Spice things up with exotic music, the twirl of silk, and the rhythmic clapping of finger cymbals. Top it off with a path to rediscovering one's feminine nature and creative spirit, and you have Belly Dancing for Fitness.
Many women find belly dancing the most enjoyable way to get in shape while simultaneously getting in touch with their bodies and tapping their spirituality. Belly Dancing for Fitness shows how this alternative dance-exercise can be as easy and fulfilling as yoga. Belly dancing includes floor gymnastics, back bends, poses, and stretches. The book also outlines how to synchronize one's breathing and coordinate the mind and body.
Drawing from her years of experience as a world-famous teacher and performer, the author discusses the history and culture of belly dancing. She then carefully leads the reader through each skill level of this increasingly popular exercise art form.
Customer Reviews:
Not technical.......2007-02-02
It was an okay book. I guess I was looking for a book about proper form and technique, and this was NOT it.
Fantastic .......2006-04-05
This book is really really wonderful.
I found the movements broken down clearly, the photos were also very helpful even though they are in black and white. I don't think photos need to be in colour.
As a bellydance instructor, I recommended my students to get this book as it is has all the basic movements and also gives you background and culture of the dance.
As an instructor making lesson plans, this book helped me as it has all the foundation movements as well as the step-by-step break down of each movement.
Very well done.
Perfect Basics.......2005-03-22
I've just started lessons and am very happy to be taking the course with Tamalyn Dallal. Her book tells the beginner everything they need or might want to know from the differences in style from country to country to the basic moves so clearly depicted and described. It is in a friendly conversational style that she shares her twenty-five years of experience. It is packed with helpful hints from dress to music which is great for someone just starting out. Tamalyn really earned her spot as one of the country's most respected dancers and it didn't come easy to her. They told her she couldn't do it but she remained determined and now is not only a great dancer but an inspiration to others, having turned out quite a few top bellydancers. You can feel her passion with such quotes as "If I feel like I can't shimmy any longer, I look up at the stars, take a deep breath, and my shimmy gets stronger." There are interesting insights for example when she speaks of softness as being one of the most beautiful qualities of belly dancing But the best thing about this book is its simplicity and clarity. The movements are broken down into easy-to-follow steps with totally unconfusing photo's and descriptions under each stage of the move. She also mentions variaitons and has concise descriptions on bringing it all together. A beginner can easily follow and understand what they are doing. It would also be an excellent guide for teachers. I have Dolphina's book and although the pictures are in color (in this book they're black and white) and they have arrows pointing in different directions the photo's don't meld as well with the text and it's more difficult to do. This is a perfect book for newcomers to the dance. There's a helpful guide on how to build up your skills. Mostly it's a very approachable book to read and refer back to. Tamalyn is not only talented as a dancer she is a talented writer too. She's also a very nice person and a great teacher, which comes through in in her writing.
More Than Skin Deep.......2005-03-18
This book is very interesting because it tells about the culture, the music, each instrument, the rhythms, their counts, and how to break them down. It gives a resource guide, list of favorite CD's, how to mix your own practice CD, plus lots of history and explaination about each style of bellydance.
Bellydancing is more than just a series of movements. It has thousands of years of culture behind it and if you dance without paying attention to that, you lose the meaning.
Tamalyn Dallal travels aound the world to teach bellydancing, but she also learns the local dances from the countries she visits. There is tremendous depth in her knowledge, and this book expresses that.
From a Middle Eastern Womans Point of View.......2005-03-18
I loved "Belly Dancing For Fitness".
I have seen Tamalyn Dallal dancing in person in Egypt, where she will be teaching at the worlds largest bellydance festival this year...and plan to take her Teachers Training courses both in New York and Cyprus this summer.
She has the most simple and consise way to teach the art of bellydance, and has turned out several of the top belly dancers in the US and abroad. I was so happy to see her explanations made so clear in this book.
What some readers may miss is that in bellydance, it is not how many fancy things you can accomplish, but how you do each move and the feeling behind it. If you see Tamalyns performance on the Bellydance Superstars DVD, you will understand where she is coming from and why she is one of the most popular bellydance teachers travelling internatinally today.
Ms. Dallal shares her extensive historical knowledge in a way that is clear and easy to understand. She teaches the basic movements in the order that they are easiest to learn, so the reader can do them well, and not get frustrated. Of course, she knows much more, but this book is for beginners, and also for teachers, because it is a great teaching guide on how to break down movements, plus which movements to start with. She has a very specific and clear teaching method and that is why she has a record number of professional dancers who learned with her.
This book is not superficial or meant to impress. This is for people who want to learn and to know what is important.
Tamalyn Dallal is a true artist as a dancer and she writes well too. I loved the photographs. They were not slick and produced looking, but very natural and artistic. This is not a pretentious book. It is real and I hope they translate it into Arabic soon.
