This collection of essays links futurist Stan Davis' previous works with some of his newer ideas about change and commerce. Believing that his ideas (Future Wealth, Blur, Future Perfect, 2020 Vision) have held up, he expands upon them to explain the philosophy he thinks underlies the next 20 years (or "the second half") of the information revolution. He delves into the next era he anticipates, one of even greater consequence - the Bio Economy. He explains not only the rise of biotech, but also the biological or networked economy, where everything is connected to everyone all the time. Moving from theoretical to practical, he advises judging your company's worth by its predicted rate of growth and change, not by traditional measurements. Then, Davis speculates about the more distant future, post 2050, when cloning, stem-cell research and such transcend theory and join the chaos of our everyday lives. Fruit Box Labels.......2000-04-27

As a citrus grower, I enjoyed this book very much. This is a great book for the label collector. The illustrations are beautiful. I liked the fact that a value was placed for each label. It gave me an idea of what my collection was worth. I do wish there was a bit more history about the packing houses and the artists who designed the labels.

it's ok...............2002-03-28

i wouldn't be able to pass by using this book alone. i used the plato computer programs at the navy college, and a book which specifies in all the sciences. when my time was up, i had about 30 blanks. amazingly, i substantially passed w/ a 490. w/ the subject still fresh in my brain, i took the biology clep exam 4 days later, again scoring substantially high w/ a 51. it definitely helps to keep answers blank if you're not sure. i suggest looking at the outlines for both exams and getting your study material from there.

Disappointed.......2001-09-30

The practice exam was Ok but the text did not help answer the questions that were on the actual exam. I had to buy another book to find out about the more difficult questions. The illustrations were vague and their was minimal preparatory value.

Pathetic.......2001-02-18

I passed the test by a decent margin, no thanks to this book. I read through the book several times, took the practice questions and exams, and when I felt I knew the material well enough I took the CLEP. I was startled at how much material there was in the CLEP that was not even touched upon by the book. I was able to answer a handful of questions correctly because of the book, but the rest I had to rely on common sense and what I remember from high school science classes.

If you do get this book anyway (the other people who have reviewed the book seemed to have liked it), make sure you read EVERYTHING -- the practice tests contain material not covered in the rest of the book so every little bit helps. My kid can draw better than the artists who illustrated the book, so just ignore them. I don't remember a single instance where I needed to recall one of the illustrations.

Passed the test utilizing only this book for review.......2000-09-05

As the test is usually 'graded' on a Pass/Fail basis I can be confident giving a thumbs up for the book. Although I was not terribly confident I had passed the test (in fact I was somewhat skeptical) I did ultimately pass the test by a comfortable margin. I did leave approximately 20 to 25% of the questions blank. It is best, if you cannot rule out some of the answers, to leave the answer sheet blank as wrong answers are held against you in the scoring logic.

Note: One other thing that I believe is valuable is to key in on at least the answers you can rule out (I judiciosly mark the test booklet as this is allowed - unlike Dantes tests) thereby giving you a much better chance at 'quessing' the right answer

CLEP exam for the Natural Sciences.......2000-05-18

I found the test taking tips included very helpful. It prepared me very well for the actual exam. The content info. was moderately helpful. I did find the sample exams did not apply to the material covered in the reading section but ultimately this did help cover a broader area of study. There were actually areas on the exam not covered in the study guide as well as areas that were in fact on the exam.

How the Manx Cat lost its tail.......2007-01-19

This is a great book for kids, as well as owners of Manx cats! The stories are great, although i wish it had more about the actual manx cats. From the title, i assumed that it would have more about the cat, but it is mostly Manx island fables put together.

My mom loved the book and i was very happy with my purchase! Would recommend this book to anyone who has a manx and would like to know more about its homeland.

This book gave good general info on cats, but not much, in particular, for Manx's. I was looking for details on their elimination problems due to lack of tail, and how to deal with it as far as special diets, etc. But, the possibility of elimination problems weren't even addressed in this book.

Karen Commings has thoroughly researched and compiled an excellent "owner's manual" for the first-time Manx owner. Through contacting breeders and asking health, behaviour, and care questions, she has prepared a book which any Manx breeder (of which I am one) is confident to give to a new kitten purchaser and feel good about it. Despite an unfortunate photo mixup with one picture, Karen's book contains accurate and dependable information about the breed. Anyone considering buying a Manx or who has already purchased one will find the book informative and fun (did I mention, it's also a good read!).

Wonderful, accurate (for a change) writing........1999-09-27

I have bred and shown Manx cats for the past 11 years and this is the only book that I know of that is completely factual about the breed. There is a lot of printed matter on the breed which is either misleading or downright wrong. This book gives a new owner or prospective owner a good idea of what to expect from a Manx cat. The pictures are not up to the standard of the writing (one picture is of a Japenese Bobtail), but that certainly doesn't ruin the book. It is not so expensive that it is prohibitive as a research source while being attractive enough to add to your library of cat books. I think it is a book that all Manx owners could benefit from owning and I recommend it to anyone who adopts one of my kittens/cats.

This is one of the most factual books about Manx I've found. Very accurate and helpful. Great book and a great value.

This book is pretty well rounded covering both gun and bow. Mixes in some science and good technique covering most topics. I have 60+ books on Whitetail hunting probably half have the same basic content this book falls in with that group altough its better then most.
