I never had the pleasure of owning my own horse or run with a wolf but T's superb writing takes you right there every step of the way. You emotionally can't help getting involved. Teresa has a magical way of sharing her lifes experiences and somehow you can relate in some area or another. Her devotion to her decisions and committment to all animals under her care should be an inspiration to all to look beyond the material and look with your heart. All creatures are a blessing and should not be ignored or abused. T's courage and deep rooted spiritualness throughout her life, making decisions that most of us would not have been able to is a tribute to her and her outstanding work.
She took her fathers teachings and her mothers heritage and combined, has passed them on to her students.
There is a Dakota proverb " We will be remembered by the tracks we leave behind". There is no doubt that next to T's tracks will be the tracks of all the animals lives she has touched and been touched by. Thanks T.....Linda (anuyi)
For those who honor the spirit of horses . . ........2005-02-19
Having been blessed enough to have had a horse in my life in my 30s, I found this book a sweet reminder and educational as well about who horses are at their very core. Teresa Martino writes with an honesty and insight that gives you the feeling you're standing in her shoes and living vicariously through her experiences. I highly recommend this book for any horse lover who honors who their horse is, not just at the physical level but the emotional, mental and spiritual levels as well.

While much has been written about black triumphs in boxing, baseball, and other sports, little has been said of similar accomplishments in tennis. He examines the role that this white sport traditionally played in the black community. great for those who know arabic and need the egyptian dialect.......2007-03-30
Because of the difficulties of Arabic, I am unsure how this method would work with complete beginners. People do need to conjugate verbs in some order or they get lost, and to map material learned orally into written Arabic would be trickly. But for someone who knows arabic and needs to learn egyptian, this is neat. All the content is in audio, so one can listen to it in the car or on the bike. The primsleur method of systematically bringing up reviews of vocabulary seems to help with memory consolidation.

As a bit of preface to these remarks, I approach customer advisory boards (CABs) from earlier experiences with supplier advisory boards and customer participation in product development. This may variously prejudice or inform here.
Customer Advisory Boards are powerful tools for engaging with customers in a variety of dimensions. Companies are using them to interactively work with their customers on developing new products and services, to keep them abreast of changes in their customers' perceptions of the changing landscape of their business world, and more. CABs provide a platform to share and develop in an environment where the customer is present and participating. CABs are used by big and small firms, They are relatively inexpensive and potentially very high in rewards. Given this, it is of immediate interest to read a book on this topic.
Customer Advisory Boards: a strategic tool for customer relationship building by Tony Carter (Binghampton, NY: Best Business Books Haworth Press, Inc. 2003)
The tagline for this book, "a strategic tool for customer relationship building" only hints at the confusion of ideas within its covers. 45% of the book, "Section I:Customer Relationship Building", is taken up with a discursive sampling of theory and practice in relationship selling, customer-centered value, and the 'nature of relationships" (this includes a side venture into leadership and emotional intelligence theories). Many of these discussions are interesting, even provocative in themselves. Unfortunately, Carter makes no organized effort to map these onto the actual topic at hand, CABs. Further, Carter mixes in discussion of Advisory Boards for start-up firms with applications more typical for mature firms.
The balance of the book, "Section II: Building Customer Advisory Boards" and "Section III: Strategic Uses and Effective Management" will not reward senior managers or consultants with much of practical value. The view of strategic value is limited to customer acquisition and customer retention. There is no useful discussion of how meetings are actually conducted, how participants interact, what values they might gain,or how the meeting facilitation role is accomplished. In the end much of these sections of the book are taken up with cases studies that seem only peripherally to shed light on CABs.
For a book that pops up very high on a Google search for "customer advisory boards", this is a disappointment.

Wrong title, full of contradictions and inconsistencies.......2005-11-05
Did this book have an editor? I doubt it. I don't think he even started with an outline or a list of objectives. This book is a stream of consciousness on customer relationship building. There is contradictory information sprinkled throughout about customer advisory boards but the title is a definite misnomer. The book is repetitive and information on the same topic changes depending on which page you are on in the book. Sometimes the author says you should not compensate board members other times Mr. Carter talks about giving them stock options, gifts, dinners etc. Recommended numbers of members of boards changes depending on where you are in the book. Lots of cases and examples that have nothing to do with customer advisory boards --so why are they included? If you are looking for information on Customer Advisory Boards, keep on looking.

Guillermo Calvo, who foresaw the financial crisis that followed the devaluation of Mexico's peso, has spent much of his career thinking beyond the conventional wisdom. In a quiet and understated way, Calvo has made seminal contributions to several major research areas in macroeconomics, particularly monetary policy, exchange rates, public debt, and stabilization in Latin America and post-communist countries. Money, Exchange Rates, and Output brings together these contributions in a broad selection of the author's work over the past two decades. There are introductions to each section, and an introduction to the entire collection that outlines the connections throughout and surveys the current state of macroeconomic theory.
Calvo, an advocate of the "Chicago school" of rational expectations, uses elements of this approach to understand economic development. While he is a top macroeconomics theorist, his models are always intertwined with policy discussion. He pushes readers to combine knowledge of real world facts -- of institutions, traditions, and culture, in addition to statistics - with theory.
One focus of this collection is on the role of credibility in policy-making. Calvo analyzes the origins and macroeconomic consequences of credibility problems. He also shows how monetary and trade theory can fail when the public does not fully believe in policy announcements. A second focus is on equilibrium multiplicity. Calvo uses models with multiple equilibria to identify factors that cause anomalous behavior. He discusses multiple equilibria in abstract terms as well as in terms of its relevance to understanding domestic public debt.
Specific issues covered are predetermined exchange rates, currency substitution, domestic public debt and seigniorage, and stabilizing transition economies.

Description:
This paper investigates the empirical link between the real exchange rate and the real interest differential, and the real exchange rate and the real output differential for the UK and the US. We use an extended set of monthly data for the period 1921-2002, which ensures high power of statistical tests, and a vector autoregression which allows for regime switches. In contrast to previous studies, we find evidence of both, a dynamic and a contemporaneous link between real exchange rate changes and the real interest rate differential. The real output differential is not linked with real exchange rate changes. The response of the real exchange rate to real interest differential shocks is much more persistent than its response to a real output differential shock. The results suggest that the real interest rate differential should receive further attention in building real exchange rate models.

This work denotes nothing of true insight or interest. I was amazed at the general obviousness of this text, along with the manicured "perspective", that was nothing but book read.
I suspect Ms. Dunung has never even been to Asia, for, as a business man myself who has been working there for many decades, I see no hard earned knowledge or awareness in her assuptions.
