The book is crisply written, and gives some remarkably clear insights and advice on reengineering. It also provides some useful, applicable tools (process maps, LP diagrams) to make an effort more effective. Advice includes service quality design, organizing a reengineering effort, and implementation. All is invaluable.

It is widely recognized that spiral grain in trees severely reduces the value of sawn timber through warping and loss of strength, and that it also causes problems for other wood uses as diverse as transmission poles or plywood. Yet, paradoxically, there are highly valued grain patterns including wavy and interlocked grain, whose origins in the cambium invite direct comparison with those of spiral grain, so that many authorities believe them to be related phenomena. In recent years this concept has prompted extensive research into the anatomy, genetics, and physiology of all such grain patterns in wood. As a result it has become apparent that tree cambia provide excellent systems through which to study the origins of stem polarity and the complex processes of morphogenetic control in plants. Beside these and other pressing topics for research, the book examines methods of measuring grain deviations, and considers their influence on wood properties, on the economics of timber production, and on wood manufacturing.

Very highly recommended to reptile collectors and nature/reptile enthusiasts with a scientific orientation, Tuatara, A Living Fossil by Dick Lutz is an informed and informative history of the Komodo Dragon enhanced with complete reference to being the only reptile with its own reptilian order strictly defining itself. As there are four reptile orders/classifications (turtles/tortoises; lizards and snakes; alligators and crocodiles -- the fourth category belongs solely to the tuatara, an interesting organism that has existed since the age of the dinosaur. Has some questions that you answer in a workbook style to focus your skills and see if you truly have what it takes to begin the quest of getting published in the Children's book genre.
Some of the questions were redundant and were repeated (basically) in other chapters. But, you did focus on different aspects of the same question with a new point of view- so it worked out ok in the end.

Author Lisa Bullard has an enthusiastic, clear approach to the writing process, most likely because she's been working with kids in classrooms, observing their questions, challenges, and stoppers.
