Book Description
Structural Adjustment Programs involving trade openness, privatization and deregulation are now applied by many semi-industrialized countries, including Argentina. This volume is a brief theoretical introduction that reviews why the nature of the firm, the institutional framework and the process of developing technological capabilities contribute to pronounced heterogeneity in firms' responses to economic transitions. Principle chapters then describe how Argentina's transnationals, national holding companies and smaller firms have responded to the reform policies.

It's ok.......2006-02-19
It's an okay book. I needed it for a class. There are several mistakes on the diagrams (our professor noted which ones).
Lots of typos and missing info........2006-01-07
Good study guide when the answers were in the back. Sometimes the answers were off by one or non existent. If you can get past that, it does help, but jeez don't they employ a proofreader? For thirty bucks, I was kind of disappointed. The textbook is great.
Wonderfully Informative Book!!!.......2005-12-12
WOW! I love this book. Every time I read part of it I learn so much stuff that I never knew before. It is fairly advanced information but it is written in a very understandable way. I am in high school and I like it because it teaches in the same format as my school's biology text books. I use this book because I like to read about this stuff. It is so facinating. If you are in a high school biology class, read this and you will be light years ahead of every one else!
Great book for teachers and students.......2005-09-17
This text explains some very complex information in a very reader-friendly way. The photos, charts and practical examples of how microbiology impacts everyone's life make it very readable. I would recommend it for teachers and students!
Micro Made Easy.......2005-09-14
This is one of the best text books I have ever used. The information is clear, concise, and interesting. It gives examples throughout the book of how microbiology is being used now to help us.

kid review format because of privacy issues.......2007-01-21
This book is for the third edition, not the forth in case anyone couldn't tell. Although my class is using the 4th ed I still found this study guide to be quite relevant to the material of the text.

Genetics, by Weaver and Hedrick, continues to be crisp and current, from cover to cover. The third edition achieves an exceptional balance of coverage--meshing its substantially modified classical, molecular, and population genetics coverage into a cohesive, authoritative whole.

A Gem of a book.......2006-12-27
I purchased this book to study for the GRE in Biochemistry. The GRE says it is 33% Genetics. However, this book is so good with the biochemistry and so well written "GRE questions popped out" from what I read. If you are doing the GRE in Biochemistry or Biology reading this book is a have too. For example the night before the exam I was reading a later chapter and several exam questions were on that area the next day. After having taken the exam - I would rate this book as the number one resource to have along with Alberts 4th edition of cell biology and Watsons 5th edition of molecular biology of the gene. Also the terms in the back are heavily tested on the GRE.

Book Description
This text is the first to provide a coherent theoretical treatment of the flourishing new field of developmental psychobiology which has arisen in recent years on the crest of exciting advances in evolutionary biology, developmental neuroscience, and dynamic systems theory.
Michel and Moore, two of the field's key pioneers and researchers, integrate primary source information from research in both biological and psychological disciplines in a clear account of the frontier of biopsychological investigation and theorizing.
Explicitly conceptual and historical, the first three chapters set the stage for a clear understanding of the field and its research, with particular attention to the nature-nurture question. The next three chapters each provide information about a basic subfield in biology (genetics, evolution, embryology) that is particularly relevant for developmental studies of behavior. These are followed by extended treatments of three spheres of inquiry (behavioral embryology, cognitive neuroscience, animal behavior) in terms of how a successful interdisciplinary approach to behavioral development might look. A final chapter comments on some of the unique aspects of development study.
From this detailed and clearly organized text, students will achieve a firm grasp of some of science's most fertile questions about the relation between evolution and development, the relation between brain and cognitive development, the value of a natural history approach to animal behavior -- and what it teaches us about humans -- and much more. Each chapter contains material that questions the conventional wisdom held in many subdisciplines of biology and psychology. Throughout, the text challenges students to think creatively as it thoroughly grounds them in the field's approach to such topics as behavioral-genetic analysis, the concept of innateness, molecular genetics and development, neuroembryology, behavioral embryology, maturation, cognition, and ethology.

Book OK - CD not so helpful.......2007-05-23
I took Russian 1 last spring. I found this book to be somewhat helpful but I don't think the CD is much help for someone starting fresh. I was disappointed.
Teach Yourself Russian Grammar.......2006-03-18
Very well done; easy to assimilate. Disciplined approach. A companion audio would be helpful.
Perfect for quick learners or quick review.......2005-07-19
All important spects of basic Russian grammar are presented here in very clear, well ordered format. each section covers a different topic, with a clear explanation, and a few simple exercises to trest your understanding. If you need a review, are looking for a supplement to your school text, or are talented at learning languages and want an intro to Russian grammar I can absolutley recommend this book as the best of its kind.
Very good beginner's grammar text, but..........2004-05-31
This is the first Russian grammar book I picked up and it's quite good, but Schaum's is better. Don't get me wrong, I've used and can recommend both, but if you only want one, get Schaum's Outlines of Russian Grammar by James S. Levine instead of this one.

Customer Reviews:
Trying to make sense of Russian.......2001-11-20
I am a beginning/intermediate student of Russian, although I have studied many other languages before trying to take on Russian. Along the way, I have learned a lot about what constitutes a good reference book for a language. This one is not quite perfect, there are a few typos. These are very few, but unfortunately, one major one is a chapter title (Chapter 15 should be "Instrumental singular" but instead is titled "Instrumental irregular"). Otherwise, it is a well constructed, wonderfully clear, and very useful book. As an added benefit, each point of grammar is explained on a single page, then followed on the next page by directed excercises (with answers in the back of the book) that allow one to learn the specific topic. I am still pursuing my study of Russian and have found it a useful reference all along the way. I cannot recommend this book highly enough. If you want to find a clear way out of the maze of Russian, as it appears to a beginner, (or even an intermediate student -- do you understand how "open" versus "closed" conditions are expressed), this book is a very good starting point. I use it all the time.
