I highly recommend this book because nonprofit board work is not easy, and the author did not try to make it easy simply by giving me a model or formula to follow. A real gem.......2004-11-24

People often make the mistake of hitting the bigger books with the hope that they will gain a more complete understanding of a subject. However the problem with such an approach (particularly when beginning a subject) is that more often than not, one loses sight of the key concepts and broad principles. This where i feel this book is a gem. The strength of this book is that each chapter succinctly provides you with all the main points you need to know about each subtopic. In this way you are given a solid basis and contextual understanding, enabling you to gain a deeper appreciation of immunology from larger texts.
At the start of each immunol topic in your course, read the corresponding chapter in this book first, then use your lecture notes or larger texts to fill the gaps/details.

This happens to be one of a very few review books i've kept in my extensive library.

Derby Day Glory Renewed.......2005-10-15

Of course, the people who have lived through the experience of triumph in the kentucky derby say that it cannot simply be described in words. But this book comes awfully close. Panelists of The Blood-Horse were polled to see which Derby was the most memorable. Of course, it is true with what D. Wayne Lukas said in the forward, "They're all special." But the panelists picked their top ten: Secretariat, and who wouldn't pick him? He was a superhorse that finished the derby in under two minutes! What a freak! Canonero the second, now this was a story I did not know of, but this one about the venuezuelan horse that won the derby and preakness at impeccible odds deserves a novel of it's own. Iron Leige's derby triumph was pretty ironic, what with the fact that Shoemaker, on Gallant Man, was warned not to stand up in his stirrups during the race and that is exactly what happened! Affirmed and Alydar, of course, carry a rivalry that goes unmatched. Citation, the Calumet iron horse, was a magnificent freak of nature, always fun to read that story. Brokers Tip, Black Gold and Regret, stories of derbies long in the past, were fascinating for their way of bringing history back to you in such a vivid way. Alysheba's incredible journey around the turn was enough to start off a remarkable career. and last but not least, Calumet's other triple crown star, Whirlaway. All of them bring back the days of wine and roses, on one of the most historic days that has been celebrated over 100 years. It is impossible to pick the best Kentucky Derby, but these 10 are just enough to get you in high Derby spirits.

I thought that this book was very helpful. It covers a wide range of words, and as soon as I tried the exercises that it provides, I found that it was really easy afterwards to use the words to spice up my essays and book reports at school.

Good book to fine tune your vocabulary.......2000-04-09

This book, from the Better English Series, is a fairly decent book for businessmen to sharpen their vocabulary. Although some of the words may already be in the vocabulary of middle to high level businessmen, it reinforces those, as well as clearly teaching new words through its 30 minute program (which I find, one can finish in about 15 minutes). The vocabulary presented covers a broad range of words, and the book is overall a straight-ahead, no-nonsense guide for businessmen, as well as for people of occupations in which an expanded vocabulary is beneficial to their job.

I got this book through another online retailer for half the price these U&N people are selling for. You just need to shop around.

I'm an artist, and I have a fondness for the Final Fantasy games. Final Fantasy IX was a challenge for me and after beating it, my claim is that it's the best in the series so far. After watching the last cutscene, I knew I had to have this book. I was very pleased when it arrived and have found it useful even today. FF9 is one of the most franchised game of the FF's(second to 7); I wouldn't waste that if you're a fan of it.

It's got all the characters, all the settings, all the fun. FF9 was my favorited in the series so I just had to get this homage to it. It's just fun to look at the sketches and rough-drafts and such. The town designs are really amazing.

If you're a fan of the FF series, anime, or just incredible art, I suggest you check this out.

Beautiful, Just Beautiful Drawings from the Best.......2003-02-12

I love Final Fantasy!! I have been a die hard fan since part one was released in 1990. There are several books out that show the visual effects from the Final Fantasy series, but this one is by far the best. It is strait forward, art, from the original designer of FF characters, Yoshitaka Amano. Page for page you will see the steps that he followed making this characters shine.

The main reason that I took one star away was because most of the art in this book is finished up designs from Amano. I am a very big fan of his work, ex. Vampire Hunter D, FF1-6,and 9 adn several other Japaneese work. I enjoy his early sketches better, they are much more fantasy like. But that does not mean that this collection is not beautiful as printed.

This is a beautiful editon to any Final Fantasy collecton or just plain art or drawings collection. Dont pass this up.

Wonderful Art of Final Fantasy IX!!.......2002-09-10

When I bought this book, I expected mostly black and white photos and small screenshots from the game, but when I opened it up I was happily suprised with a book full of large, colorful artwork. Being a fan of the game series itself, this book especially appealed to me, as it probably would to many other FF players. But even those who do not play the game will find them selves impressed with the tons of fantastic artwork that fills its pages. I definitely recommened this book if you are a fan of the game or just love great art!

The Art of Final Fantasy IX shows off the artwork from the proclaimed video game. The book contains all types of artwork, from characters designs, transportation designs, backgrounds, enviorments, weapon designs, and 3D renders.

Whether you're a Final Fantasy fan or an artist with interest in seeing great character designs as well as enviorments, this is a great book to look at. It also shows off final renders of the characters in 3D. A must have for any animator's library.

This book is amazing. The pictures are higly detailed and colored with excellence. Im an artist myself and have reviewed many art books, but never gave one a perfect rating. If you love Final Fantasy and it's artwork, this is the book for you.

A purchase I did not regret!.......2001-02-02

I was immediately drawn to this book(around A4 size) by the marvellous cover of Vivi surrounded in a whirlwind of blinding light. The pictures only get better after after that. There are illustrations of every character, from their draft sketches to their final state which is what you see in FFIX. Each character also has a full body picture and a closed up print. There are also beautiful pictures of the airships and various other features in FFIX. The best part was in the later back pages, there were full page art of the various scences which were breathtaking. For example, for Freya Cresent full page art, you can actually see the (realistic) rain drops dripping from her hat. It is the attention to details which made me like this book. The book is also built to last as it is in hardcover, with good quality paper that really enhances the visual arts. Overall, I rate this book a must buy if you are a FFIX fan or you want to see some really superb animation and drawings. Afterall, FFIX is not what it is without its marvellous visual arts.

I feel looking back on the final fantasy saga that it has had the most,if any,significant impact on gaming.With all the posuers out there it is good to finally give the artists some credit as well.Being that good writing is complemented by good art.I reccommend that every fan buy this;I love this book.I can't say more
