Should be mandatory reading of all Medical Students and Residents. Disease process as seen and documentd by a patient. The physical, emotional, and spiritual swings a patient goes through during a long protracted illness.

A TRUE STORY OF HOPE AND HEALING.......2006-07-07

This is a book about severe illness and recovery. It is a true story of hope and healing told without self-pity. Price writes of being faced with a diagnosis of severe cancer of the spine. "Some vital impulse spared me needing to reiterate the world's most frequent and pointless question in the face of disaster - Why? Why me? I never asked it; the only answer is of course: Why not?"

In the same candid, sometimes funny, yet always affecting words, the popular and prolific author tells of his battle with disease. First struck down in 1984, he suffered through surgery, days of agonizing pain and was eventually confined to a wheelchair, unable to function professionally or personally.

He later sought treatment with a hypnotist at Duke University's psychiatric department with beneficial results. Throughout, Price gives credit to the power of prayer, which he calls "the first strong prop beneath my own collapse."

This is not only the story of an illness and recovery, it is the saga of resolve when confronted with a frightening enemy, and it is a tale of family and friendships, the human network that supports us.

A very honest emotional description of experiences while dealing with a cancer, a surgery, radiation, learning how to live with pain as a companion, learning how to live as a "gimp"--word used by the author, and many other superbly described experiences. Just the right touch, just the right doze. Very subtle and lithe. Joy to read.

This book was a timely read for me. I found it uplifting and inspiring and it contained all the information I needed to change the course of my life and my career. I felt David's passion coming through every page and was encouraged to hear the many real life stories and examples he shared throughout the book. Spirit Intelligence is like an "owners manual" to success on all levels. I have seen big changes in both my personal and professional life after applying the very practical tools outlined in this book. A must read !

This book is a must for anyone working with people. I am a Primary School Headteacher in England and with all the pressures put on Teachers by the Government it is difficult to inspire staff with a sense of vision & purpose -David's book gave us a route through.
Check out Chapter 5 where he visits a Fijian Gold mine & they paint their united vision of success on a rock at the entrance! Staff & children did the same and ours is now on display in Reception, poular with everyone.
Check out the People analysis tool on Page 102,which helps you motivate all those you work with.
I recommend this book to anyone who only has time to flick read or dip in a book for a spark of inspiration. Go for it!! GillY

This is a very practical and enriching book. I loved the accessibilty and clarity with which he writes. He is eloquent in his articulation of the dynamics of life, of emotion, of mind, of body. And of course spirit. And he brings together the worlds of hard science and 'soft' experience, in a profound and compelling way. It is a fabulous resource book for people wishing to grow, and help others grow. He expresses himself with wit, passion and intelligence - spirit intelligence.

Helps with your business.......2005-06-21

Great book! I have used David's principles as a senior manager in three mining companies, and found them extremely useful in assessing personalities, allowing me to tailor requests and instructions to gain maximum cooperation. His logical approach to problem solving has assisted me to increase ore reserves in two of these companies at lower than average costs, and to commence the construction of four new gold mines. After my 30 years in the industry, David was still able to teach me useful and practical people skills. Best value for money you will ever spend. Strongly recommended reading.

The Next Step.......2005-06-21

David Powell has obviously spent many years working with people from all walks of life and he really has learnt what 'makes us tick'. This book goes well beyond the conventional management techniques and provides a tool kit that everyone can use to build their careers and indeed their lives. While many people crawl along on a couple of cylinders, David really gives us the opportunity to reach a new plane and discover 16 cylinder performance. Good practical advice, well presented and enough "woo woo" factor to really stretch the mind.
I can't recommend it too highly.

I was getting a book to try to teach my daughter, 10, to pitch. This book was very helpful. It broke the whole process of pitching down into steps that were managable to learn. She had a positive experience with it. It also goes on to more difficult tasks after you master some of the most basic maneuvers. There are drills at the back to work specific parts of the pitch. I highly recommend this book.

Quantity Vs. Quality.......2002-01-29

I looked at this book briefly at the bookstore before buying this book and I thought at the time, this book had lot of design examples for business cards and letterhead. (one of the reason why I decided to buy it)
Well when I actually took time to look over every design. There weren¡¯t much innovative designs present in this book. Don¡¯t be fooled by the number of pages. I have to say this book is pretty thick and has lots of examples but not much attention grabbing designs, most design examples were simple and straightforward.
