The book has information about keeping chickens, but all the glossy pictures of chickens and the writing style made it seem like a coffee table book about chickens instead of a practical guide.

The best overall chicken book.......2007-07-05

This is by far the best overall chicken book.I tried Story's guide, wow was that boring and dry. This was very easy to read cover to cover.This will tell you everything about raising them from A-Z. The best part is there are pictures and examples. I would recommend getting Choosing and keeping Chickens by Chris Graham to get a more in depth view of each breed, size, personality and it has great pictures. As a beginner I found I needed both books.

Living with Chickens: Everything You Need to Know to Raise Your Own Backyard Flock.......2007-03-18

I have just finished reading this book. I loved it. It includes some general information and directions for finding out other needed information. In the back it includes hatchery and cooperative extension information for most states. It is full of wonderful pictures of the chickens doing their own thing. I feel that anyone that is not already raising chickens should at least read and enjoy this book. If you don't enjoy anything else about the book you will love the pictures and the stories that go along with them.

Friendly style, full of information, & tons of special, vivid photos-- I read this cover to cover in a day and really enjoyed it. A GREAT book for the person who is thinking about starting a small backyard flock. One of my favorites. (The layout is unique, too- engaging and easy to read.)

I read this book cover-to-cover the first day and next morning that I got it from the library. Very clear and easy to understand even for a kid. The book is written with a touch of humor that makes it especially fun to read! There is BEAUTIFUL photography in this book. If you are thinking about getting chickens like I am, or already own them, you won't want to pass this book up! Happy Reading!

SOME GOOD INFORMATION BUT A MIXED BAG.......2002-03-26

If your looking for a book jam packed with practical piloting techniques only don't buy the book. At the same time it mostly sticks to title and subtitle. I would give it three and one half stars if there was that option. The book does contain useful information with a broad range of topics from practical information such as landing technique to reasons to be skeptical of the FAA. I will keep the book around to reread.

The concept of a book aimed at private pilots is a good one. As a low-time private I know that there are many golden nuggets of knowledge that experienced pilots have to share that can save me a hard learning experience. With this in mind, I purchased Beyond the Checkride.

I did learn a few things from this book, mainly that Fried disdains the FAA and wants the flying public to share his feelings. The book is filled with stories of the FAA abusing its power.

In addition to its lack of content, this book is poorly written. Fried continually repeats himself and uses unclear phrases. It's amazing that any editor would allow this book to be published.

If you are interested in reading a real aviation book, buy Stick and Rudder. I guarantee you'll learn from Stick and Rudder. The only thing to be learned from Beyond the Checkride is that the very same agency that issued your pilot certificate will soon try to take it back, an idea not helpful to your skills.

The book is well written and filled with useful information. However, it concerns me that Howard felt that CFIs aren't teaching this information. I purchased it before I finished my flight training and felt that it was a valuable asset to my learning experience.

Beyond The Checkride (What your instructor never taught you) Once I began reading. I completed the book the same day. Although I am a new pilot, (250 hrs) I believe any pilot would gain new insights from Howards common sense, tell it like it is approach.

This book is great! It is very easy reading. Simple and easy to digest. Written for the every day person. The Everything Inventions & Patents Book.......2006-09-27

This is the best book on inventions and patents I have read. I have read two previous books on this subject and this book is easy to follow and still covers a broad range of topics from the invention process to patenting to actually making money on your invention. I am a first time independent inventor and this was just perfect for me to understand how I get started and how to protect my invention. It also provides a lot of resources you can access to help you with your invention: books, web sites, patent services, marketing services, forms, etc.

With its enchanting miniature , vigorous script, wide decorative borders and beautiful initials, the manuscript reproduced here can be counted among the most seductive creations of Parisian book illumination of the early 15th century. The French text, written by the colourful figure Gaston Phébus, Count of Foix, between 1387 and 1389, contains not only technical details about the practice of huntsmanship in the 14th century, but also exact descriptions of the wild animals which were then hunted. Of the 44 known manuscripts with Gaston Phébus's text - most of them dating from the 15th century and a few from the beginning of the 16th century - the present manuscript, dated 1405- 10, is one of the best known and most important. All its 87 miniatures are reproduced here in colour. The commentary, by an expert in hunting iconography, not only describes the subjects matter of each miniature, but also summarizes and explains the text of each chapter.

THe interesting part of this book is that it reproduces the original medieval book from the first page to the last including some blank pages. It is a high quality facsimile by Harvey Miller Publications (London?) yet, the book has been reduced to a size in which the exquisite miniatures loose their spendor.

the reproduction of the illustrations is rich and wonderful,and is a fantastic resource if one does or collects pieces of calligraphy and illumination. For those searching for an english translation to the text itself, this book offers but a sampling, teasing the readers with a generous introduction to the book's history and then giving only brief summeries of the individual plates rather than a full translation of the text. I enjoyed this book for its pictoral historical research value,and would rate it a four on that alone but as one searching for a complete english translation of text, I was disappointed.

As the author of THE CUSTOMER LOYALTY PYRAMID, my purpose in writing the book was not to provide a TQM template for customer loyalty. Instead, it was to offer a blueprint and methods for any individual, group, or company wanting to organize for greater commitment to customer loyalty. Creating optimal customer and staff loyalty is the logical goal of any organization. The reality is that few companies in any industry, perhaps less than 5%, have truly created a customer-focused culture, use customer information to best advantage, and apply the most effective actions to achieve customer loyalty. Offering user-friendly cases and examples, the book provides both the architecture and the materials to help make this happen!

A point well made.......2000-03-27

This book has been well written. It has a good flow of thought and the different chapters are well connected. It is excellent for motivational reading because for a person who is unaware of the concepts of Total Quality Management, this book adresses the heart of the topic. TQM is a way of improving one's business by doing various specific activities. All these activities have the end customer satisfaction in mind. Thus this book is not only good for understanding the concept of Customer Focus, it goes a long way inconvincing the reader with the validity of TQM. Some of the illustrations are excellent, for example the one which illustrates the relationship between the degree of company success and the degree of customer focus. It also gives many interesting real life examples on how customer focus has had an effect on the business of various organizations. All in all, this book makes for interesting reading and leaves an impression on the reader's mind about the validity of the point that it attempts to make.

The year 2002 was a good one for TIM: the operator started seeing the effect of its customer loyalty programs reflected in the stabilization of churn, its ARPU decline was reversed, and mobile data contribution increased. At the same time, TIM continues to face plenty of challenges. It has been gradually losing its subscriber market share to Wind, the third market entrant, which in 2002 boosted its market share by taking over all the subscribers of Blu, the fourth Italian operator which exited the market in 2002. At 89% of all subscribers, TIM has one of the largest prepay bases in Western Europe, with consequent pressure on both churn and ARPU. TIM_s most important challenge, however, is fending off an offensive by Hutchison_s _3_, which can only be done by matching the quality and variety of its content and services. This book is the third volume in the new series of books on International Regional Economic Integration published by Kluwer Academic Publishers. The Editor begins his examination with an extensive introduction which emphasizes the historic nature of the next enlargement of the European Union. The point of reference for enlargement is the European Commission's Agenda 2000, which covers all the policy areas which the new Member States will have to accept. Although this document is a very important one, it does not pay enough attention to the necessary policy changes and institutional changes which should be made in advance of enlargement. This volume tries to rectify this oversight by offering an assessment of the costs and benefits of enlargement to present and future EU Member States.
In view of the importance of all these considerations, special attention is paid to the possible implications of the weak compromises made at the much-heralded Berlin Conference, held in March 1999. To that end, the volume presents an examination of the policy and institutional changes which must be made in advance of enlargement.
