Description:
Trichoderma spp. isolated from rhizosphere of banana (Musa sp.) from different areas of Tamil Nadu, India were evaluated under in vitro condition for their antagonistic potential against Fusarium oxysporum, the banana fusarium wilt pathogen. Trichoderma harzianum isolate Th-10 was the most effective in inhibiting the mycelial growth of fusarium in vitro. Out of five different organic substrates (rice bran, rice chaffy grain, farmyard manure, banana pseudostem and dried banana leaf) tested, dried banana leaf was the best carrier material to support T. harzianum growth. Strain Th-10 colonized the dried banana leaves within few days and produced high density of propagules (4.6x10^3^2cfu/g of leaf). Addition of jaggery (10% w/v) to the dried banana leaves increased the multiplication of T. harzianum which survived for >6 months on the stored substrate. When applied as dried formulation, the population of T. harzianum Th-10 increased from 10^4 to 10^1^3cfu/g of soil within 60 days. In two field trials, soil application of T. harzianum Th-10 as dried formulation effectively controlled fusarium wilt with an efficacy comparable to that of the fungicide carbendazim.

I am a little surprised that my instructor used this book seeing as it is about 4 editions old. Other than that it is a good book.

Great Stories, But Forgot the POOL!!.......2005-09-01

I have read several books latley Hustler Days and Playing off the Rail to name a few. This book doesn't even belong in the same name as Pool. The Stories made no sense what so even. This book is made up of very short stories. The first one only mentioned pool because the background story took play by it. no ON IT!!

Being an avid pool player, I often look for books on the subject to take up the time when I can't play. Most of the stories in this book were well written and were very enjoyable. Granted, there were some stories that were not as good, but in any book of short stories, that is bound to be the case. Overall, the book was humorous, and I enjoyed reading it.

The book is not written for beginners. It offers keypoint concepts of the basic balance physiology and the vestibular funcion tests. If you are ever puzzled by the conflicts of those results in vestibular function tests and can't figure out which test or tests to relay on during your clinical evaluation, you would feel wonderful after you read it . You must read it to be a expert but it certaintely isn't your first book .

As a first year graduate student in Audiology, this book, at first glance seemed like an impossible read. The writing is extremely dry and medically based. After finally getting through the first chapter, the rest seemed to be significantly easier. All in all, it has been an extremely informative book and will be an important addition to my permanant reference collection. For anyone interested in the testing and diagnosing of balance disorders, this is an essential read.

An excellent resource for any medical professional involved in caring for patients with vertigo or unsteadiness. The approach is clear and concise, with many sample cases. This is the only text I've seen which provides a logical, stepwise and complete approach to the difficult task of diagnosis and treatment for this group of patients. The included normative data wil be very helpful for those just starting to build a balance assessment testing program.
