I have always believed that products must be built to meet needs of a specific group of customers. Companies must organize to deliver products efficiently through the specific channels preferred by their target customers.

"Your Perfect Business Match" is an ideal supplement to the usual way we teach strategic management, using the traditional SWOT analysis together with the old 4 P's of the Marketing Mix, as well as generic and operational strategies, etc.

I was glad also to see that, coming from 3M, you stressed that no normative opinion should be ascribed to any one particular management style. I taught the following four alliterative leadership styles that would seem to fit well into your book's paradigm:Commanding style . . . of Rulers of the Kingdom, Controlling style . . . of Warriors on the Battlefield, Communicating style . . . of Hunters in the Jungle, and Cheerleading style . . . of Pioneers on the Frontier.

I found absolutely no apparent inconsistencies in your argumentation. Your book could, and I believe should, be very widely used as a supplement to case studies used in all Strategic Management courses, taught as both capstones at the undergraduate level of accredited Colleges of Business and at their MBA-level offerings. It should be widely used by undergraduates and

The authors provide new evidence for the sexual dimorphism and differentiation of GABAergic, leucine-enkephalin-containing and parvalbumin-immunoreactive neurons in the BST and Am of the rat. Together with testing the gender differences, age-related changes in numbers of the neuronal subpopulations, mentioned above are followed. The authors' results provide morphological and immunocytochemical data that may be used for further studies on sexually dimorphic circuitry and its functional significance.

I don't read alot of books. I think the last one was in High School, and I'm 30. I was sucked into this book. Once I started reading the book the wheels in my head started turning faster. This is an incredable little book on the "magic" of other lands. I like the writings of Lyall, but this was a late comer to my list. It has absolutely captivated my imagination and heart. I am one of those that believe that what is narrated is "real" - is just that is in that other realm of "other ways of knowing". I constanly quote it and suggest it as reading for others. It is an eye and mind opener. It is a book that challenges our "Western" ways of knowing. It is a book that easily can be denied as true, but if one has read other books impossible to believe or has had similar "weird" experiences in life, then it has that intuition that it might be true and it can then be accept it as patentable possible.
I highly recommend it to anyone, you will be surprised!

I read this for a psychology Senior Seminar class at Univ. Maine @ Farmington... The intersection of scientific knowledge and inexplicable phenomena was awe inspiring... It is amazing how the natural world has yet to be sufficiently explained by science. This book was extremely easy to read, as I read most of it backwards (the chapters are broken down into sections). This is one of those books you can easily read twice!

Biologist Lyall Watson travels to Indonesia in search of magic... and finds a 'dancing island' and a girl who comes of age to become a shaman and healer. For those who simply enjoy a good story, this is an excellent book. For those who realize that the magic described in this book is real, it's even better. Watson is a first-rate story-teller, and I would give this book ten stars if such a thing were possible!

This catalogue presents ink paintings and ceramics of Japan and Korea in the collection of George Gund III of the Cleveland Museum of Art. It features 25 Japanese ink paintings (suibokuga) from the 12th to the 16th century, 3 Korean paintings from the Choson dynasty, and 5 stonewares (Tokoname, Suzu, Echizen, Shigaraki and Tamba) from the Heian and Muromachi period.

The Cleveland Museum of Art has held special exhibitions of E Asian art for the last 30 years. In 2000 the exhibition was of INK PAINTINGS & ASHGLAZED CERAMICS: MEDIEVAL CALLIGRAPHY, PAINTING & CERAMICS FROM JAPAN & KOREA. The art was from the museum's George Gund collection of 13th-16th century known master painters and talented unknown artists.

Ink painting got into Japan, from China, as part of Tang dynasty painting. One of the earliest examples, Landscape on hemp cloth, must have been done in the late 8th century. At that time, waves were typically made bird wing-like. Also, coastal islands were typically made in just a few brushstrokes. It was definitely an ink painting, because of the modeling and the texture strokes lighting and shading the rocks.

Japanese ink painting peaked in the 14th century and in the second halves of the 15th and 18th centuries. Chinese paintings had been imported, as gifts, but also to be bought and sold at high prices. Supply didn't meet demand. So Japanese painters had to churn out good copies, in the styles of 13th-century Chinese masters Xia Gui, Muqi, and Ma Yuan.

But the Japanese tended not to let go of their painting traditions or views of nature in copying. For example, Chinese landscapes were orderly and realistic, Japanese helter skelter. The only known exception was the most famous ink painter, Sesshu Toyo, 1420-1506. While learning ink from Li Zai and color from Zhang Yousheng, he took on the Chinese view of nature. Because of his reputation, late 15th-century Japanese artists were more realistic than usual, in portraits and in screens showing artisans and Kyoto area scenes.

Sesshu was part of the golden age of Japanese ink painting, known as the Higashiyama period. Most of the exhibition's paintings are from that period and afterwards. They include works by two other famous ink painters, Bokkei Saiyo and Bunsei. They also have artworks by Ikkyu Sojun. The lives, let alone the identities, of many ink painters didn't make it through time. But Ikkyu was one of the few who has always been well known, because of his art and the stories about his life. In fact, Japanese television started up a children's cartoon program, with him as the main character.

Author Michael R Cunningham includes illustrations and write-ups for all 33 items. His book's well organized, with a good bibliography and helpful glossary. It's every bit as impressive as his earlier BUDDHIST TREASURES FROM NARA and his later UNFOLDING BEAUTY: JAPANESE SCREENS FROM THE CLEVELAND ART MUSEUM.
