The book provides a tool kit for managers tasked with raising performance and sustaining motivation. Organisations are being judged by the way in which they accommodate the needs of the individual in work and life-style terms. In this context, the smart employer will not only be looking to develop policies that retain talent through recognising their work-life issues, they will be equipping their managers to manage that talent in ways which maximise the contribution that individual can make.
The text introduces managers to techniques largely drawn from Brief Therapy (De Shazer & Berg). Brief Therapy is used in the UK, but primarily by social workers, psychologists and counsellors. It's application to work settings is now growing. The attraction of a Solution Focussed approach to coaching is that it offers pragmatic tools that help managers structure helping conversations.
The book presents the principles of solution focussed thinking in a language that is readily understandable by managers, and shows how those principles can be applied to a range of issues which managers may find themselves facing as willing or enforced coaches. The book places coaching as an activity which can be done as part of the daily process of management.

Book Description
This book adopts the decision theoretic viewpoint in the organization design problems in management and organization theory. The first part considers a short-run adaptive process in the organization. The organization design is represented by a combination of the organization structure and the management system and constitutes a part of the sequential decision problem of the work. The second part considers the long-run adaptive process for modifying and improving the work. This process is formulated as a partially observable Markov decision process. The final part restates the theoretical results of the previous two parts as normative propositions on the efficient organization design. To test these propositions, the study focusses on the organization structures and the management systems of Japanese firms and obtains the data which support the author's theoretical propositions. This book provides a useful normative approach to organization design problems in management and organization theory.

Not particularly helpful to me. Maybe someone new to horses would find it interesting. The book didn't do enough to outline training techniques for hard cases of fear in the horse or go into the depth I thought it would from the description and title.

I have only recently started golfing. This was my first book I read on it. I liked this book because I could apply what I read to more things than golf. It helped me to understand golfing because I could relate what I already knew to golfing.

I started playing golf 2 years ago. I am just your typical once a week, once every 2 weeks golfer. A friend at college informed me of this book. I read it and then reread it. (A note: I hate to read) This book just peaked my interest. The first time out on the course after reading it I hit better than I ever had by far, took 9 strokes off my best ever. I have been trying the mental techniques and positive thinking strategies presented here and can honestly say I am having more fun on the golf course than I have ever had. Each time I play I have more and more confidence and my shots are getting more and more accurate. I recommend this book to anyone who loves the game of golf or the art of Zen.

If you cannot let go of the eternal search for just the right grip, just the perfect driver, the longest ball or all the other "externals" of golf, you will not be able to discover the TRUTH in these pages. Since reading this book for the first time last week, I have had three sub-par nines in the last seven days. I can't remember having a sub-par nine at any time. The real joy and glory of golf is revealed in these pages and my recent scores show that the applied philosophy does work...but, better scores is not the goal and once you let this truth become part of your golfing being, you will come to enjoy the game, the people you play with and even yourself at a deeper and more fulfilling level. "When the student is ready, the teacher will appear". I have read many golf training books and this one may just be for you if you are "ready".

Being an avid crossword puzzle fan, I have a lot of puzzle dictionaries. The description sounded like this one would be a "must have" addition. I have been so very disappointed. Most anything I look for is not in there. The very best continues to be "The New Comprehensive A-Z Crossword Dictionary". Happy puzzling WITHOUT this one - you'll waste your money.

This is the best crossword puzzle I've looked at. It's vastly superior to the N.Y. Time offering. I pretty exclusively work on their puzzles but from my point of view, their dictionary is almost unusable. I've also found this to be an incredibly handy basic thesaurus...

Very helpful and much better organized than other crossword dictionaries I've tried. It's a bit out of date and often things you'd expect to find aren't there, but it is very useful, especially for movie, sports, geography, place names, etc.

I received this crossword dictionary last week & I am very disappointed in this book. It doesn't have all the words and it did not help my crossword puzzles at all. The letter are very large which helps my eyes.

I was conned into buying this book. I own an older (flawed) edition. The publication date is specified as 6/10/2003 (by Amazon). No such date appears in the book, which states that the work was originally published in 1999.
I would have waited for the next edition rather than buy a version that is already five years old.

It's been done before, but never so well. Like their predecessors, professional crossword editors Stanley Newman and Daniel Starkhave arranged thousands of three to seven letter words so that you can easily find them once you know the position of any two letters. Only they compiled their list from words actually used in crossword puzzles. They even included popular phrases, abbreviations, and proper names. The result may well be the greatest sanity saver ever published for crossword fans. The publishers are so confident in it that they offer a money-back guarantee of their own. I strongly doubt that they'll issue many checks.

This is exactly what you'd expect. You've got a couple of letters and need an answer, they're all here. Granted, that's a bit to look through, but desperate times and all that. I found this book particularly good for crossword construction, if you're into that sort of thing.

This book truly lives up to it's name, mastering bishoujo characters. For those of you having a little trouble with designing a unique character, then this book is definately for you! This book contains different personalities that you can give to your characters, the kinds of clothes that character would wear, and hair styles. It is full of poses that would be beneficial to you as well as some scenes of walking, jumping, and the way the body twists when it's doing a certain action. Another good quality this book has is girls waking in groups and sitting in groups. I think that is very helping if you are planning on drawing a manga with a school scene with a group of friends. This book really doesn't have any nudity, it does have the outline of the nude body, but nothing obscene. I would really recommend this book. A must buy!

This book is excellent to draw beautiful woman characters, the book shows you 20 different characters and their customes, body compositions and other kind of stuffs, a very interresting book.
One of the best "How To Draw Manga" books.......2005-09-19
A lot of the "How To Draw Manga" series really aren't that great. But this one, they actually did a very good job with. I like the first half of the book and how it explaining the twelve personalities. The best part about is you can almost design and give an identity to a unique character of your own. Ranging from punctual and outgoing to quite and conservative.
As for the second half, it almost has "fillers" after the twelve personalities. What I mean by fillers is that just stuff to fill the pages will. But something's are relatively useful, like school uniforms, character movement, relaxed poses, and hand gestures. What I did not find to be useful was entering and closing a door, drawing hair and eyes, and driving.
I wish I could give this a five star, but I can't because they could have gone into better details of maybe the eyes and hair, or left out the closing of a door and driving. But still, this book is pretty good and I recommend this book for the intermediate to advanced artist

Okay, this is going to be my first review on Amazon. I'm from The Netherlands, so my English is not perfect. Please forgive me if there are some weird words or sentences in this review, I'm only 15... ;)
I'm a huge fan of manga and anime, not only on TV or in video games, but I also like drawing it myself. I've collected several books about drawing manga, and More How To Draw Manga: Mastering Bishoujo Characters is one of them.
Well, what can I say about this book... It's MARVELOUS!! It is such a great book! As I said before, I've got several books about drawing manga, and this is without a doubt the best one! It teaches you how you can perfectly draw different bishoujo characters. Their traits of character, what kind of clothes they wear, how they like to do their hear... Eyes, noses, mouths, cheeks... This book has got it all. It really helped me to get acquainted with all kinds of girls and how I could draw them with their characteristic marks. I'd definitely recommend this book to all of you!!
