This book is outstanding; it links theory and business life nicely - the case studies do their work...You can read about the newest developments in the CRM field (mass customization, collaborative customer relationship management and category management, VMI and CPFR) and you understand how to boost your business. Just do the things the other companies displayed in the book did...

The authors of this notable book examine long-run technological change and the complex set of interrelated phenomena which can be grouped under the heading of `innovative processes'. They refer to a broad notion of the technological system and propose an original methodology to ensure consistent empirical analysis.

They do so by promoting the analysis of intersectoral innovation flows as a way to investigate the nature of technological change. At both the macro and sectoral level, institutional and structural elements are considered along with more standard technological and industrial variables. International comparisons are carried out on a systematic basis for a set of OECD countries, plus a focus on two important industrial sectors (motor vehicles and chemicals). The authors find that institutional arrangements (such as models of capitalism) turn out to play an important role in shaping both the internal and external relationships of macro technological systems. Moreover, the structure and performance of an industry is shaped by the broader techno-economic elements of the relevant sectoral technological system.
The authors successfully integrate the theoretical and empirical analysis of technological systems with a specific investigation of intersectoral innovation flows. This is a great book that exposes kids to all kinds of bats. It teaches good facts too. Many myths are dispelled when you read about the bats in this book.

In New England, as elsewhere in the United States, colleges and universities offer degrees in languages, but few make courses in the history of those languages mandatory. Aside from the usual MA theses and Ph.d. dissertations -- almost all of them stiffly written attempts to isolate academically “workable” and degree-granting minutia -- there is very little in print for the students of language that attempts to explain how contemporary languages in America have been and continue to be affected by their rubbing of elbows.
What is noticeably true about the French dialectical variations in and surrounding New England is generally true of the Spanish dialects spoken along our Mexican border too: both were at one time banned in their community schools. both have created hybrid dialects in English; both have retained vestiges of their rhythms and stresses in these hybrids; both have adopted English nouns and altered them appropriately; both have applied their verb structures to English verbs; both have adopted English cuss and curse words; both favor religious swears (unlike American English, which favors the sexual); both have insinuated words and expressions into contemporary American English.
Mutt Contay Saw is about French and what has happened to it in New England. But itÂ's also about English. ItÂ's entirely in English, even the French pronunciations are rendered in English. ThereÂ's a brief history tracing the development of English.

At first, when a colleague recommended this book to me, I thought.."Oh great, another motivational book,...80 percent motivation, 20 percent meat..." I`ve been general manager of a quality plastics manufacturing company for over 20 years. I have been fully involved in all areas of sales and negotiations with our customers, and strive to stay in tune with the most effective techniques and technologies available to assist me and my associates in selling our fine products. I thought I was on top of my game, but after just a few pages, a burning sensation started in my chest as I saw several direct references to the same problems and pitfalls that we have experienced just recently in our dealings with new and old customers alike. After reading "The Oh Norman Diary", I discovered there was one key ingredient in our sales strategy that was not being utilized to it`s fullest potential....the customer.

This is a really useful volume. Simple, common-sense examples, and punctuated by humor, not another deathly dull how-to book. Full of the kind of sales insights that you might not be practicing, but when seen in print make you exclaim, "Of course!" You want to rush right out and start to utilize 'em.

It decidedly conveys a valuable sales and customer service message, doing so in a format that makes the salient points memorable. It does for the Sales organization what The Goal, by Eli Goldratt, did for manufacturing. This should be a primer for the sales student and practitioner.
Kudos to Uly Meixner and Erich Mock for this seminal work in sales training. I look forward to additional works by this innovative duo.

Two quotes from the book: "Patents reflect human arrogance ..." and "Patents also reflect the arrogance of western civilization ...". These two sweeping generalities are unjustifiable and inexplicable yet they are the basis for the book. This book is of no use to anyone who understands intellectual property, patents, copyrights, trade secrets or other forms of original creation deserving of legal protection.
