Great stories about fascinating animals.......2001-10-26

This book takes a simple approach to nature reporting.
It tells anecdotes about interesting animals, both little known and well known. Each animal or animal trait gets roughly a page or a page and a half. The tone is light, enjoyable, and in favor of conservation rather tha strident rhetoric. This is a very good read.

A must read if you want to start big-walls.......2004-07-03

I read this book...did a lot of practicing, (got spanked a few times) and then climbed the Washinton Column's Southern Route & Prow along with the regular route on Half Dome and Zodiac on El Cap!

No book will make you a good aid climber...but this book does as much as possible.

If you're in doubt - buy it, its definetely worth the cover price.

The best way to learn to aid and climb big walls with the exception of going out there and doing it. A good reference for beginners. The illustrations are a little corny. Looked like a throw back to the 1970's. Illustrations probably lifted from "Climbing Big Walls," edited by Mike Strassman.

Great Tool.......2007-09-24

The flash cards are a great tool in building vocabulary. They are easy to use and understand. I recommend using them in conjunction with a book or other language program.

A Good Brush-Up of Russian Vocabulary.......2007-08-16

The vocabulary terms used here are basic ones, and there appear to be few if any technical terms. Although there are a thousand vocabulary words, many of them have multiple usages per card. For example, card 292 is kak (how, as), but also includes a listing of: kak budto (as if), kak-nibudt (somehow, sometime), and kak-tolko (as soon as).

A booklet is included with the set of one thousand vocabulary cards. This booklet includes hints for usage of the cards for maximum benefit, as well as a listing of all thousand cards. This listing makes it easy to keep track of lost or missing cards, or for one person to quiz another directly from the list. One can, of course, also make an enlarged photocopy of this list and to check off the words that one does not know.

The set of cards is very portable. All thousand cards fit into a 21 cm by 9.5 cm by 4 cm box. Each vocabulary card is 9 cm by 4 cm in size.

The Best Vocab Cards.......2006-07-27

I had a hard time learning and remebering words. The cards helped me so much. They are the best cards becuase they give you the word not only in its nominative form but the other cases or uses as an adjective. If it was a verb it gave you perfective and imperfective. I think anyone who is learning russian or a teacher teaching russian should buy these cards. Good Luck Learning.

Just Great!.......2006-06-09

These cards are wonderful! Every day I would go over a couple, then tape them to the wall so I could glance at them regularly. By the time I was done, my walls were covered and I had improved my vocabulary tremendously. I heard just about everyone of these words repeatedly during my time in Russia. Just a really helpful product.

Great learning tool and an absolute bargain........2003-09-15

This is a set of flash cards that roughly corresponds to the 1000 most commonly used words in the Russian language. They're great. They're the perfect size, small enough to carry a bunch comfortably in your pocket, but not so small that they're difficult to manipulate in your hand.

My suggestion would be to use these in conjunction with the Russian Learners Dictionary by Nicholas J. Brown. It lists 10,000 Russian words in order of frequency of use. Use the dictionary, sort through the cards and pick out the first 100, once you've learned those, move on to the next hundred. Once you run out of cards, you'll have to start making your own, but vis-ed makes blank cards too.

This was purchased for my teenage daughter who wanted to learn caligraphy to add verses onto her watercolor paintings. She has learned it takes a lot of practice. This is a very nice set with good supplies for someone who wants to learn caligraphy.

I bought this as a Christmas gift for my daughter who LOVES to write and draw all over EVERYTHING and it kept her occupied for hours. However, the ink does get all over the place if you aren't careful. She has enjoyed it alot and the price is good.

Many firms, for example, are now less likely to use informal hiring practices, more likely to have formal grievance filing procedures, and more likely to respect international institutions, such as the Chinese International Arbitration Commission. Guthrie argues that these findings support the de-linking of Western trade policy from human rights, since it is clear that economic engagement leads to constructive reform. Yet Guthrie also warns that reform in China is not a process of inevitable Westernization or of managers behaving as rational, profit-maximizing agents. Old habits, China's powerful state administration, and the hierarchy of the former command economy will continue to have profound effects on how firms act and how they adjust to change.

Finally, an academic who puts it into words so the rest of us can understand! Dragon in a Three Piece Suit tackles difficult issues in a way that is easily understandable to those of us who don't study economic systems full-time but are interested in learning about them. Guthrie manages to write a compelling work that is simply eloquent - a book that appeals to both academics and the regular-Joe. I appreciated his insights and predictions regarding Chinese economic reform.

The 1996-1997 Intergovernmental Conference and a clearer road to monetary union have paved the way for the start of negotiations for accession to the European Union (EU) of up to ten transition economies. A major watershed in efforts to integrate "Europe," the plans to widen the EU will inevitably conflict with forces for deepening integration.
