This book does a wonderful job of taking different approaches and tools of looking at how sustainability and equity relate to each other. It scans the globe, distinct definitions of environmental justice, and a variety of environmental issues to create a less U.S. centered look at what environmental justice means and its relationship with sustainability around the world. The editors and contributors are well-known and distinguished in the field of environmental justice and sustainable development, making this book a must read for a comprehensive look at how two sometimes disparate and sometimes intertwined concepts interact. It also works well as an introduction to environmental justice and sustainability. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in equity issues; environmental justice is often one of the last considerations in environmental battles. Works like this will help make equity one of the first considerations.

If you really want to know what amphibians and reptiles live in the San diego area forget all other field guides and pick this one up. At under $20.00 for the soft cover it is really a great value. Of course the handsome hardcover edition is a must for an real reptile enthusiasts library. If you are a hard core reptile enthusiast or an amateur just getting into it you need this book. If you do not like reptiles but live in the area it is a great resource to have. Of course if you love wildlife and hike southern California, I don't need to tell you that you need to own this book. Five Solid Stars!!!

Neuro-Behavioral Determinants of Interlimb Coordination: A multidisciplinary approach focuses on bimanual coordination against the broader context of the coordination between the upper and lower limbs. However, it is also broad in scope in that it reviews recent developments in the study of coordination by means of the latest technologies for the study of brain function, such as functional magnetic resonance imaging, near-infrared spectroscopy, magneto-encephalography, and transcranial magnetic stimulation. In addition, new developments in recovery of interlimb coordination following spinal cord injury and other insults of the central nervous system, such as stroke, are reviewed.
Neuro-Behavioral Determinants of Interlimb Coordination: A multidisciplinary approach is intended to be a helpful source of information for scientists in basic research as well as practioners involved in clinical settings. Those who will benefit most are neuroscientists, neurologists, neuropsychologists, cognitive neuroscientists, kinesiologists, motor and rehabilitation scientists, physical therapists etc. Special efforts have been made to make the contents accessible to graduate students by means of review chapters that contain explanatory boxes. We hope to convey our excitement and enthusiasm about the field of interlimb coordination and what it has to offer as a prototypical vehicle for a cognitive neuroscience approach to movement control.

This book can please every scuba diver interested on the Florida Keys. Great layout; nice, glossy paper; loads of inspiring pictures; super cool maps of EACH dive site; expert advice from knowledgeable writers who clearly love the Keys.
For such a beautiful book - though not hard-cased, it can fare well on a diver's coffee-table - this guide is a GREAT value for the money. This book provides substantial help in preparing for your first trips to the only living reef in the continental USA. It can also inspire the seasoned Florida diver to remember the good times underwater and how precious the Keys are.
A fitting tribute to a nature wonder... a most useful guide for a diving vacation... Highly recommended!

I found this book to be an excellent review of diving sites in the Fla. Keys. Not only did it describe sites but the drawings describing dives from boats was excellent! I cannot say enough about how well this book is presented and it should be an invaluable resource for all of us who dive in the Keys

This is the best diving book about the Keys in this website. It is a fascinating look at many of the bigger reefs in the Keys. We used this book as a reference source for creating our website. It is filled with beautiful photos, all taken on the reefs described therein. It has diveplan maps to follow, history, fish descriptions, and many other helpful facts relevant to divers.
Excellent Dive Book!.......1998-11-02
As a beginning diver, I found this book to be very informative. It lists practically every reef in the Florida Keys. I especially like the reef maps which show what there is to see at what depth. Then after each reef map, there are photos of what there is to see at that site. It is a paperback, but it has glossy pages and great photos. I thought it was an excellent book - at a value price!

This small book (64 pgs.) is filled with good, albeit summarized, information about diving opportunities all over Florida. The Keys information details a few of the larger sites and wrecks, and has nice charts. We like this book, especially for the price. A "hell, why not?" book that's definitely worth it.

This book by two accomplished divers attempts the daunting task of guiding us through the myriad of Florida wrecks. The book is broken down by city or location and gives a history and a nice preview of the dive for each wreck. What is really great are the color photos, both above water and underwater shots. The only draw back to this book is the lack of exact wreck locations.

A glory of the late Italian middle ages.......2004-10-10
The Visconti Hours dates was painted in Italy for the Visconti family of Florence in the early 1400's. This book reproduces the illuminated carpet pages from this manuscript along with an introduction to the history of the book and commenty on individual plates. The plates themselves are very colourful and striking filled with vivid pinks, purples and greens. There were two main artists who produced this book and their work is quite distinctive giving the second half of the book quite a different flavour from the first half.
My main complaints about this reproduction is that the gold ink that has been used to recreate the effect of gold leaf in the original book has somewhat obscured some of the detail in the facsimile plates, and that some of the edges of the pages appear to have been chopped off to forced into the current book size which gives the impression of the illuminations spilling off the page or amputated in some cases.
However, these quibbles aside, this is a striking manuscript, well worthy of reproduction and every time you look at you are astonished at the brightness of the plates and the colours the artists selected. They are very different from the books produced in France and England during the same period. This book, in hardback, with a slipcase, is recommended to anybody who enjoys the striking beauty of medieval illuminated manuscripts.
Magnificent Reproduction of an Amazing Book.......2000-07-02
The Visconti Hours, one of the most luxurious and unusual Italian Books of Hours from around 1400, is magnificently reproduced in this facimile edition. The introductory text begins with an excellent summary of the political and social context of the book's production for Giangaleazzo Visconti, its noble owner. It continues with a discussion of the book's structure, iconography, and painting techniques, and includes short biographies of the two artists.
The plates themselves are of particularly high quality, sharp, clear, and brilliant, with gold stamping. The commentaries are informative.
All in all, this book is a must-have for any serious student of medieval illumination, as well as for the simple pleasure of enjoying its outstanding beauty.
