I'm an econ student and these locusts are always swarming on my campus, but no one is able to really say what Larouche is about(coherently and convincingly anyway). He states free markets are bad uses a bunch of gibberish that is either unsubstantiated or when converted to English is nonsensical. So I decided to get this book and read it, while a step up from the usual rants that are passed out on campus, it is still loaded with more nonsense then I've ever endured. No wonder he makes these kids drop out of college it's easier to brainwash the ignorant. Neo classical economics looks at all the variables that Larouche does, and can explain economic problems with better mathematical evidence than he does (and more historical precedence.) The economy is growing in real inflation weighted dollars. There is no economic doomsday on the horizon. Fiat currency and free markets are the proven best way to maximize social net benefits (assuming no externalities, with externalities present some government action is required.) If you don't believe me look at Hong Kong it went from very poor to very rich in only a few years after adopting a free market approach , heck even China is jumping onto the free market bandwagon(now they just restrict social liberties). In conclusion please don't buy this, unless you have a college level understanding of economics so you know what hooey this is. (or are a Larouche supporter in which case it doesn't really matter what you do.)

LaRouche is so awesome. I sacrifice 100 emus to Abreham Lincoln to ensure his being president (LaRouche, not Lincoln because he kowtowed to the British banks to finance the war). This man is a genious. I dropped out of skool because all I ever needed to learn I learned from this book. Marry me Lyndon LaRouche!

We are doomed if LaRouche does not become president. Doooomed. Better yet, LaRouche for God. In 2008.

A Unique Approach to the Economy.......2002-03-01

Lyndon LaRouche offers a unique approach to economic analysis. Instead of measuring economic strength by financial and monetary aggregates (the price any fool is willing to pay for real estate or stock in a "bubble" market, or the amount of green slips of paper any government is willing to print out to keep those bubbles inflated) he measures it by what is happening to the physical economy (construction of rail systems, power plants, water ways, machine-tool production and consumption, and agricultural yeild).

And, instead of approaching the economy the way that an accountant would (focusing on immediate costs and benefits without looking at hidden costs or long-term consequences), he approaches the economy as a scientist and a poet would, by asking what the underlying axioms are that drive current economic policy decisions -- and where must those axioms and policies will lead us over the next 25-year interval.

This gives his work a refreshing dose of reality that is missing from other books on this topic. If, in the 90s, you thought dot coms were sustainable and if you thought, in 2000, that Enron was a good place to put a chunk of your life savings, you should have been reading LaRouche to avoid being taken for a ride -- and fleeced of your cash. But, as LaRouche points out, this is all part of a much bigger and long-term picture.

What LaRouche has to say about the current state of the global economy is even more important than what he has said before. And the stakes in the heist that is currently underway are far greater than those for any particular household, tragic as that would be. You should read this book.

What a remarkable piece of absolute genious. I have a new found hope after reading this book written by one of the most profound (and correct) economists, philosophers, and scientists of our time, Lyndon LaRouche.

Not only does the book authoritatively demonstrate a way out of our financial crisis, it demonstrates that there is an American System of Political Economy that is not capitalism or communism--and it works. Adam Smith, Karl Marx, step aside: make plenty of room for the economics genius of our time!

True to its stated purpose: best used as a roadmap by mathematically unsophisticated newcomers to analysis of microarray data. Somewhat superficial, and it becomes more so in later chapters. Does not explore harder issues in detail. Does not touch upon future directions of the technology. Its advocacy of the Unix awk program is anachronistic; tellingly, the reference cited for awk is from 1988. Not a groundbreaking book, just solid practical advice.

This is a MUST READ for anyone involved in online auctions. There are many issues to address before you bid and this book outlines them all. Everything you need to know from how to get the best bid price to which sellers to trust, is covered in this detailed book.

Since reading this book I have managed to win about 85% of the auctions I'm interested in, at what I consider a minimal bid price. I no longer battle with another bidder and cause the item to skyrocket in price.

I love the section on how to find what you are looking for. This is a time saver, which allows me to quickly check for items I wish to bid on.

Thanks to this book I can now bid with confidence.

How do national identities affect the world economy? Building on the insight that nationalisms and national identities endow economic policy with social purpose, Rawi Abdelal proposes a novel theoretical framework, a distinctively Nationalist perspective on international political economy, to answer this question. Using this framework, and drawing on field research in Lithuania, Ukraine, and Belarus, he provides an in-depth look at the link between national identity and the economic policies of the new states formed by the breakup of the Soviet Union.

All these states, from the Baltic coast to central Asia, were economically dependent on Russia during the 1990s. However, they reacted very differently to that dependence, and their reactions can be traced, Abdelal contends, to their individual societies. Some, such as Belarus, found dependence inevitable and sought economic reintegration with Russia. Others, like Lithuania, interpreted dependence as a large-scale security threat and reoriented their economies away from Russia. A third group, typified by Ukraine, demonstrated no coherent economic policy at all regarding dependence.

Abdelal distinguishes the Nationalist tradition in international political economy from the Realist tradition, and shows that economic nationalism is different than mercantilism. He demonstrates the ways that national identity affects economic policy and explains why some governments seek economic autonomy while others prefer regional reintegration. He then applies his approach to other cases of economic reorganization after the end of empire--eastern Europe in the 1920s after the Habsburgs, 1950s Indonesia, and French West Africa in the 1960s.

Taiwan's economic development experience represents a special case study especially in the wake of the Asian financial crisis. Taiwan has performed outstandingly in terms of macroeconomic and industrial development, particularly during recent democratic and social change.
