Organized into 32 chapters, each focuses on small discrete areas such as the posterior triangle of the neck, and dorsum of the hand. Provides in-depth, detailed explanations for each dissection. Each chapter also stands alone, which allows instructors to adapt the material to their preferred dissection sequence, and students to self-teach and review. Features correlation of the surface anatomy to anatomical structures revealed in the dissections, a highlight for clinical understanding. Dissection instructions are boxed in red to create clear distinction from the explanatory material.

        4 out of 5 stars Was a good book!.......2006-08-24

I recommend this book as a good back-up to study anatomy during your 1st yr of Med or dent school. Very precise and thoughtfully illustrated.

4 out of 5 stars Not Bad at all.......2006-08-24

Unlike the previous reviewer, I felt this book had alot to offer. With good drawing and precise explanations. For the price I had spent to get it used; overall it was a very decent book.

        2 out of 5 stars A real disappointment.......2005-09-01

I purchased this for my daughter's Human Anatomy class, thinking that it would assist her with her dissection. She didn't even use it after opening it to check information. She stuck with her Gray's Anatomy (Student's edition). Unless you just really like long, drawn-out explanations, this is not the text for you.

              5 out of 5 stars A very well-written medical school textbook..........2001-06-13

I just finished taking Gross Anatomy at my medical school. Luckily for me, I was privileged to have been taught this course by Dr. Colborn himself. I felt that reading this book was almost as if Dr. Colborn were right there reinforcing the facts that he had lectured on in class. I greatly appreciated especially the fact that the book was written from a very clinical perspective - which to me is of much more value than simply having only read a dissecting guide or textbook of facts.

I highly recommend this book to any medical school student that wishes to have not only a great dissecting instructional guide but also a very informative lesson in medical gross anatomy.

1 out of 5 stars Clinical Gross Anatomy : A Guide for Dissection, Study and R.......2000-11-29

I am a first year medical student and this book is one of three required textbooks for gross anatomy. I was not satisfied by the content of this book for several reasons. First, there were not enough diagrams to facilitate comprehension of the text. Without fail, I found it necessary to rely on Netter's Atlas of Human Anatomy, another of our required textbooks. In addition, the drawings were black and white and were not labeled clearly. The information was not presented in an orderly fasion. It was disjointed and difficult to follow. For example, many of the diagrams were labeled with one term while the corresponding text used a different and interchangeable term. These types of inconsistencies were frustrating to deal with. By the end of the semester I found myself relying on the other two text books and notes from class lectures as my main sources of information.

However, this book was necessary for gross anatomy class simply because it provided instruction for proper disection of the cadaver, information that could not be obtained from any of the other recomended resources for the class. If it were not for this reason, I could have done without this book.

5 out of 5 stars Walking in the Shadow of a Rainbow........2005-07-07

I have read many wolf books, but this one brings a feeling of bondage between Man and Wolf. But the story is not goody-goody. There are bounty hunters and trappers as there are in real life. This book refers to a map in the beginning of the book a lot, but you can manage to do without it, its not vital. Though this is a slightly shorter book it still has all the action and emotions as if you were really there. It is a really good buy and would recomend it to any wolf or animal lover.

                    5 out of 5 stars Absolutely Incredible.......2003-10-25

Just finished reading this and it is truly the most powerful factual story I have ever read. It has a similar thread to a fiction novel by another Native American author, Ghost in the Rainbow. There is a ghost wolf Indian spirit in that story, and I couldn't read this story without referring back to that one. The Native Americans know something about wolves, and this book touches upon that something...are wolves spirit creatures? I am of the opinion, because of these two books, to believe wolves are a lot more than animals. I can only encourage people to read this story. You will never be the same.

5 out of 5 stars "Shadow of a Rainbow": Silver Screen for the Silver Skin?.......2002-07-24

There are three non-religious books I read and re-read constantly. "In the Shadow of a Rainbow" is one of them. Man and wolf become alive before our eyes, with unexpected depth and dimension, as does the land of BC itself - and my life has become the richer.

I despair of ever seeing this story done properly on film, but there is one person who could do it justice - Hayao Miyazaki, master storyteller from Japan, known the US for "Totoro," "Kiki's Delivery Service," and "Princess Mononoke." (He could also do a worthy animated "Diary of Anne Frank." With the eye and heart of a spiritual magician, and artist's touch to match, I wait for him to bring Nahani alive on the screen. In the meantime, I'll just have to keep reading the book itself...

                    5 out of 5 stars Connections.......2002-02-05

What a lovely book. Leslie has captured the remarkable story of a young Indian man, who is befriended by a wolf, in living color. Greg (the Indian) and Nahani (the white wolf) meet when Nahani brings her pack into the area where Greg is prospecting for gold . Thanks to Greg's willingness to watch and learn from the wolves, along with his inherent respect for their boundaries and ways of doing things, the leader of the pack (Nahani)gradually comes to trust him. Eventually she sits by his fire, allows him to scratch her back, and pull ticks from her skin. This mutually satisfying relationship ends when the first snows of winter arrive and Greg must return to town.

Back in civilization, Greg discovers that Nahani has earned a reputation as a killer. There is a large reward being offered to anyone who can kill her and bring in the skin. Greg is naturally upset by this, and tries to convince people that the wolf is not a threat. He is opposed by a trapper named Dan who does all he can to stop Greg from helping the wolf. Concerned for Nahani's safety, Greg embarks on a 3-year quest to locate the wolf and save her if he can.

The story of how Greg manages to locate and track Nahani through one of the remotest and most inaccessible regions of the country is as inspiring as it is fascinating. Better still is the story of what happens when Greg eventually locates the wolves.

This story, which ends on a very positive note, is said to be true. It was told to the author (Robert Franklin Leslie) by Greg himself. Aside from the few places where human motivations and emotions are attributed to the wolf, the story rings true. It is a real treat for anyone who believes in the interconnectedness of all living things.

5 out of 5 stars One of the best that I've read!.......2001-01-09

I have read many books, both fictional and non-fictional, about wolves. This book was truly one of the best. It was refreshing to read a story about a wolf where it did not end up dead by the end of the story yet, the story is realistic. If you love wolves, you will be amazed at the friendship that is possible between a human and a pack of wolves. I will re-read this one!

                      Book Description

Selling is 85% emotional and 15% logical.

Forget everything you've been taught about selling -- forget the hardsell, forget negotiation strategies, forget those closing techniques. In The Inner Game of Selling, Ron Willingham debunks the familiar myths about "sales skills," showing that those tired methods are too shallow and manipulative to do anything but alienate potential customers and drain you of energy and dignity. Today's consumers are wise to the old-fashioned gimmicks, extremely informed about their options, and very particular about what they want. The old tricks simply do not work anymore.

Willingham, author of Integrity Service and CEO of Integrity Systems, opens your eyes to a whole new truth about selling: Your ability to sell is more a question of who you are than of what you know. Accordingly, why you sell is far more important than how you sell.

Salespeople perform according to their inner beliefs about themselves, about what it is possible for them to sell and earn, and about what they deserve to achieve. These beliefs set the boundaries of their self-image and ultimately determine their success or failure. Willingham has synthesized his decades of experience, field-tested research, and a career-long dedication to ethical and passionate salesmanship to arrive at the groundbreaking insight that you will sell at your highest level only when you achieve emotional and spiritual alignment. Your sense of your own self-worth combined with a belief in your product will inspire that crucial ingredient in potential customers: trust. The Inner Game of Selling shows you how to overcome self-limiting beliefs and move on to a new relationship with your customers and, more important, a new relationship with yourself. Your new inner strengths will truly benefit you and your customers in any sales situation.

Willingham is at the leading edge of a values shift in sales culture, from product-focus to personal empowerment. The Inner Game of Selling establishes a groundbreaking new paradigm that will utterly transform the philosophy and practice of selling.

I guess I was looking forward to something a little more entertaining, like listening to Zig Ziglar. I was totally bored by the second disk. The first disk had good information and kept me interestd. The second disk was plain difficult to listen too. I gave it to a co-worker to listen too and she also said the same thing. I think the information is good, but it needs to be done in a way to keep your attention.

This CD set is a great add on to the Integrity Selling book & program. While looking for additional material to keep our Team's head in the game we are finding this to be valuable additional learning opportunities. Enjoy, you will get better.

1 out of 5 stars Dated - Self Help Material.......2007-01-31

This book is an attempt to describe the emotional process of selling by evaluating the motivating factors which affect your selling abilities. However, it is a combination of every sales program you have ever had, along with a self-help book from the 70's. Ron Willingham is really scraping the bottom of the barrel with this one, and it is really disappointing coming from a man who I have held in such high esteem before reading this book.
The idea that all sales people's capabilities are driven by their unconscious belief system - the "Area of the Possible," is simply horse-hockey. The material is dated psycho-analysis applied to a sales program, which is not well written or thought-out. The logical fallacies of the arguments used to "Prove" the program works are laughable. Do yourself a favor and don't drink the Kool-aid. Pass this one by!!!!

                      Book Description

Are ideas continually streaming through your mind that you just have to capture on paper? Do they sometimes visit you in the middle of the night, during a long drive in your car, when you're most relaxed, or even at the most inconvenient of times? If any of the above is true, you were born to write, and it is for persons such as you that You Were Born to Write was written. This life-changing book shows you how to tap in, at will, to that infinite source of inspiration and expression, and to release easily, fluently, and enjoyably whatever it is within you that seeks to be brought to life on paper. "My husband couldn't believe that within one week of finishing the Intensive Writer's Retreat with Tom Bird that I had finished my first book," says Debbie Kowalsky of Hollywood, Florida. You Were Born to Write, which is actually two books in one, shows you how to accomplish results such as these for yourself. In the first portion of the book, you will learn how your life and educational experiences have actually kept you from the natural act of expressing yourself meaningfully, passionately and with a purpose through your writing. As well, this portion of You Were Born to Write, outlines seventeen life-changing Writing Principles, to show you how to remove these inappropriate influences and then how to return to that most natural of all states. Then in the second and last portion of You Were Born to Write, you will be shown how to utilize what you have learned to write anything you want in record time and with the degree of depth, passion, and purpose that, before the reading of this book, you could have only dreamt of. Your achievements will include the writing of a book within thirty days or less. Like so many of us, Tom Bird felt drawn to write. However, even after employing the orthodox methods for writing as well as for getting published, he was met with mostly frustration and rejection. After realizing that the reason for his failure lay not with a lack of talent, commitment, or desire on his end, Tom decided to design his own strategy for releasing the author within himself and for getting his writing into print. This design eventually became known as The Tom Bird Method T. After employing his methods, Tom met with almost instant success, culminating in the sale of his first book at the age of twenty-six. Since then, Tom has published fifteen other books and toured the country, making more than over 3,000 lectures at over 100 different college and university campuses, sharing his methods with as many aspiring writers as possible. At present, Tom continues to teach and lecture, and lives in Sedona, Arizona, with Tammy Kelley, their daughter Skyla, and their two dogs, five cats, and two birds.

                      5 out of 5 stars POSSIBILITIES.......2006-12-02

Complete your book in 30 days or less! Is that really possible?! It is not only possible but proven according to author and educator Tom Bird in his latest book. This phenomenon is backed by testimonials of Tom's students, or should I say published authors.
The Tom Bird method breaks the rules of traditional writing concepts taught to so many of us though academic institutions. This is one of the reasons that hinder our expression of ideas, according to Tom. In the first of portion of the book, the author reveals this & other conditioning that holds the writer back from putting their passion on paper. This section also provides Tom's 17 writing principles that are stated to be life changing.
The second section then shows how to utilize these concepts to write anything you want in record time, with more depth and purpose.
This book speaks to the heart of the writer, whether aspiring or published. The writing is direct, compassionate, and easy to follow. Tom is right there with you, from beginning to end, from choosing the correct writing instrument and mood to completion and beyond, starting that second book.
It is written informative and user friendly. Tom shares the concepts he developed that took him from frustration to publication in record time. He has published numerous books and articles. He has been teaching his methods at universities and schools nationally for 26 years.
If as the NY Times poll quoted is correct, that 81% of Americans have a book in them, this should be a bestseller.
Personally, I found this book so intriguing that I couldn't put it down, except to start writing the book inside of me!!

                      5 out of 5 stars Refreshing.......2006-11-05

I highly recommend this book if you aspire to be a writer--or even if you don't. Tom Bird's approach speaks to the innate creative connection in all of us. The principles are concise and cut through all the traditional writing concepts. He shows you how to tap into your own unique expression and accomplish, in a relatively short time, what has taken some authors months and years to accomplish practicing the accepted linear processes. I enjoyed taking Tom's class and this book is a wonderful compact reminder of how much MORE FUN it is to write using his method.

                      5 out of 5 stars Great read.......2006-11-04

You must have an author within you struggling to get out, or you would not be reading this review. With his seventeen writing principles Tom Bird destroys the myths of why you cannot write and tells you how you can write. He explains the origin as well as how to control the Logical Critical Mind. That is your ruthless internal judge who is sure that your writing is nothing more than trash which no one wants to read. Tom elaborates on how to write from your heart and why that is critical for a successful writer. He also demonstrates that you need not take years to write a book. With discipline and his techniques, it can be completed within months. Finally, Tom gives an exact procedure for the rewrite process. You write a second draft and that`s it; not five or six rewrites. Tom Bird has presented 3000 lectures to 50,000 students at over 110 campuses. I think he is the worlds greatest cheerleader and motivator for writers. I highly reccommend this book.

                              Book Description

The Encyclopedia of Social Work, 19th Edition is the field's most comprehensive reference work for the general knowledge base of the profession. Three volumes provide nearly 3,000 pages of information on virtually every aspect of social work.

All of the 19th edition's 290 entries are new, and several areas of interest are covered in greater depth than before. Expanded content areas include new technologies, research, global changes, U.S. policy developments, evolving roles for social workers, and knowledge development.

The editors of the 19th edition included more entries on women and people of color and increased the diversity in the Encyclopedia's authorship. Of the over 300 contributors--academics or social work practitioners--the majority are women, and one-quarter are authors of color.

Each volume contains a complete table of contents and full index. "Reader's Guides" list all the entries that relate to a topic. "See" references lead readers to specific entries, and "See Also" references ensure that they find all the information related to a topic. Key words for each entry provide another search tool to help readers find content.

The Encyclopedia is a solid investment that will provide years of practical service as a one-stop resource for looking up facts, preparing papers, supplementing course work, initiating literature searches, and informing social work practice.

Special Features *All new entries *344 authors who are leading scholars *30% larger than the 18th edition *142 biographies *80 Reader's Guides *10 appendixes *Key words for every entry *Freestanding cross-references *Nearly 200 easy-to-read graphs, charts, and statistical tables.
