Great Book.......2007-08-26

Great book. Very useful. I have the textbook still in shrink wrap, and the workbook that goes along with it. I want to part with it. Sctops140 at aol dot com for details. I purchased it for a microeconomics class at Beloit College. The workbook helps understand the concepts explained in the textbook.

terrible economics book.......2007-02-23

As many others have noted it contains very few numerical examples. I didnt have the workbook so maybe that would have helped, but so far this book is completely useless. I wouldnt recommend this unless you really love the pure formulas an no examples. If its required i guess its better than nothing

Fantastic Textbook.......2007-01-10

We used this textbook in my intermediate micro class at Cornell University, and I have to say, it is quite possibly the best textbook I've had. I'm more of a math person myself, and this book did a wonderful job of fleshing out the concepts with mathematical examples. Definitely recommended!

This is the standard intro-level economics textbook at Harvard, and it is well written. Covers all expected topics to good depth, with excellent examples. A reasonably suitable book for reading, and a simply useful textbook. Recommended.

Great book.......2005-01-12

Certainly the most interesting treatment of Microeconomics I've read. Like most American texts, it's about twice as long as it needs to be, but I never felt the urge to give up reading and just skim the pages.

OK.......2003-07-04

I felt that this book did not meet the "hype" that my professor created for this book. Both he and another professor at my school raved about how good it was, although both myself and more thank 12 other students (in a class of about 20) were disappointed.

First, the book contained too many grammatical errors--I found this to be quite shocking, especially considering that the author's partner is an english prof. I also purchased the study guide from the publisher, and it too contained a few too many typographical errors. Further, I found some of the examples in the practice problems to be inappropriate, given the weak explanation in the preceding chapter section's lesson.

One positive comment I do have is that the approach or theme that the author uses from the very start of the book (using the "simple society") definitely indicates that the author made a sincere effort to reach his less-experienced undergrad audience. Perhaps the subsequent edition will be an improvement?

An easier version of Mas-colell's microeconomic theory. Includes nice examples. Although Hal Varian's book is preferred in most undergraduate micro courses, this one is surely better. (maybe the best)

I have never in my Economics studies read a book so simple, helpful and practical like this one. It has economics newspaper and journal excerpts to supplement the topics. It starts by explaining to the reader the economy from scratch (ie when there is no production or no firms) up to the complex stages that many advanced economie have reached by now. Although the structure inside might intimidate you, and of course its size, believe me the book is most READABLE! It covers everything on microeconomics, especially undergraduate. It is excellent!

My course(economic theory) was complex and the instructor wasn't so successful in explaining complex situations.This book came into help that time.I've learnt so many things from this book and am still continuing that.Also it was a very powerful source when studying my midterm and final exams.

Paul Downward uses a synthesis of ideas from realist philosophy and methodology to explore post Keynesian pricing theory. The author critically reviews and extends both the econometric and the non-econometric evidence as a basis of understanding the causal processes of pricing. Taking into account Keynes's notions of the 'weight of evidence' and 'negative analogy,' the post Keynesian account of pricing offered in the book appears compelling. The evidence presented will raise substantial questions about neoclassical accounts of pricing.

This book will be required reading for those interested in post Keynesian economics, methodology, behavioral economics and institutional economics as well as for marketing and management theorists and those generally interested in pricing decisions.

Traditional organizational and support structures no longer function efficiently in the face of increasingly complex problem domains because these structures are generally not conceived from the social perspective, requiring development of new organizational structures and support systems. Temple provides readers with an excellent format for learning to write web copy, especially if they have prior experience writing marketing copy for print media. Using his seven-day model, a copywriter could easily develop new content and marketing strategies for a personal or client website without becoming overwhelmed by "what do I do now?" Temple presents a simple, readable guide to writing copy without falling back on the condescending format of the "for Dummies" series. He has a tendency to be a bit too glib with his language, but that's probably unavoidable for someone with that many years in the marketing business. If you are interested in persuing a career in copywriting, or simply want to rewrite your personal page in a manner that beter markets you and your skills, I highly recommend adding this book to your library. It probably won't work as your only copywriting resource, as it lacks the depth of other texts, but it's certainly a good starting point and a handy tool.
