This book addresses the controversial call for international labor standards, seeking to productively further this debate by considering the economic implications and history of these standards. A result of an initiative by Professor Kaushik Basu in his capacity as member of the Expert Group of Development Issues (EGDI) sponsored by the Swedish Foreign Ministry, the contributions are based on discussions at a seminar held in Stockholm in August 2001. They focus on four central questions:How did the labor standards movement evolve in the past, and what can we learn from its history?What do contemporary economic theories tell us about the possible impact of international labor standards?What solid empirical evidence do economists have about the incidence, causes and effects of child labor?What kind of global institutions do we have or need in order to enforce any agreement on labor standards, and what role should the ILO and WTO play?Compiling the best research in the field, this book provides a solid basis for policy decisions, while also serving as a challenging text for students in trade, development, and labor economics.

I really liked this book. I highly recommend it to any entrepreneur; especially anyone considering buying and selling used cars. The book loses some of its wind toward the end but overall I must say that it is a well thought out book.

I cant believe that I actually paid for this book. Anyone with a brain knows that if you buy low and sell high, you will make money. If you know that then you dont need this book. This book is silly. I cant believe that it was even printed.

I have been in the towing business for 13 years and one of the

few perks would be the chance to buy and sell used cars.

I try to buy at least one or two a month to pick up an extra

$1500 or so. For me The Used car Money Machine was really

helpful. At least it made me aware if I can find two bargins

than why not 3 or four. Bargins are out there every day and you

do not need to be an insider to make money. Don'y listen to the

haters out there the book is well worth $13.00! A lot of money

is made with used cars but it does take some work. Just buying

a diet book wont make you skinny you gotta be into it.

It's funny that I see two reviews that say the book is lousy, and several others that sound like a commercial. So, what's the truth? The truth is this book is little more than a pamphlet hyping the used car biz. It offers very little in terms of specifics. Those reviews praising the book as some sort of godsend were put there by the author. This book is filled with vague and very obvious information. I have found all the information in this book and more on the internet for free. DO NOT BUY!

I get it! All in all some really good advice. I have been in the car business for over 30 years. I have done wholesale and retail
both buying and selling. I even did repo's for three years. This
book was on the money for me. There are thousands of guys quietly
making money buying and selling used cars and I am one of them.
I liked it and believe you would find the advice in the book valuble but what do I know I am just a pretty well to do high
school grad!

Which happens to be FREE and sports a truckload of such putative blueprints, best practices, ROI enablers, success stories and whatNot -- CRM Guru, CRM Forum, CRM Daily ...ad infinitum. If your reasoning is to skip the information overload and bag all the available wisdom in one neatly bound huggable volume, you'd still do better to look elsewhere, there is easily a wild smattering of CRM wisdom in books that cost a decent coin instead of the Four Seasons price on this tome. After all, it is only fair to expect some ROI on reading dollars, no?
