Whether your station in life is as a college student, a graduate armed with a degree, or a happily employed individual, you can benefit from BOUNCEBACK Marketing. You will learn effective, explosive and immediate impact oriented ideas and techniques, for application as a salesman, advertiser, marketer, manager or job seeker!

So how did Bounceback Marketing come to be?

Author Magee tells us: "Two years after graduating from college, I found myself being recognized (via letter) by the CEO of a Fortune 500 Corporation as being their toop Southwest Region salesman and among their top five salesmen in the nation. Energy levels were riding high, but two months after receiving that letter, I was greeted one weekend afternoon at my home by my boss and directed to resign or be fired! Knowing the issue in dispute to be a fabrication, I immediately placed calls to the company headquarters, but no one would take my calls. Well, to make a long story short, I resigned, organized my position and attacked the market place. I identified many opportunities and immediately initiated my personalized advertising and marketing campaign to secure the right opportunity waiting for me within twenty-four hours."

Success and achievement in life don't just happen. They are planned for and aggressively sought out by those who have done their homework and know what they want. This text provides a step-by-step system approach to engineered life achievement. The only real limits are those which we place on ourselves, not those that others would have us believe are placed on us. You must learn to apply ideas, strategies, techniques and tactics to attain what you want.

Bounceback Marketing will expose you to what the majority of marketing, advertising, and employment oriented books omit. You will learn real-life application oriented items. This material works and you will gain results like never before imagined. These are the ideas taken from a cross-section of America and tailored into a consice system-approach formula and blue-print (your road map, in essence) so you can also gain successful results.

      5 out of 5 stars A gem of practicality.......2007-03-09

Few books offer so many practical rewards for lawyers (indeed for anyone who uses Acrobat). Cleanly written and full of screenshots to aid you, this is a one stop shop for "everything Acrobat" a lawyer could possibly want to know. David Masters is renowned as a lawyer/expert who speaks nationwide about the use of Adobe Acrobat in law firms. If you get the chance to hear him speak, you'll thoroughly enjoy him in person, but the book is a reference tool that you'll go back to time and again. Most lawyers who read this book are shocked by the many things that Acrobat can do - and they practice better, more efficiently and more securely as a result. This book should be in every lawyer's library.

5 out of 5 stars Tells You Just What You Need to Know.......2006-05-20

More and more courts are allowing, if not requiring, that documents of all type be presented in electronic format either in addition to or in some cases instead of on paper. There are unquestionably a lot of lawyers who will assign the task of producing the electronic document to a secretary. But this is kind of like having a lawyer these days who can't use a PC - there probably are some, but they are getting fewer and fewer.

This slim document, now in its second edition is aimed to enable lawyers (or their secretaries) to produce the .pdf documents desired by the court. It does not go into all the details of what Adobe Acrobat can do, that would take a thousand pages or so. It is not a book intended for the teckie who lives, breathes, and eats computers. It tells the lawyer what he needs to know to meet the courts requirements. At this it does a great job.

      5 out of 5 stars Really Great.......2005-07-25

This book really walked me through using Acrobat Professional.

I'm know computer wizard, and this book has been really useful to me.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent book for lawyers!.......2005-03-18

I really needed this book! It focuses on the functions of Adobe Acrobat 6 that lawyers need to use. Explanations are clear, illustrations are helpful.

These are skills that a lawyer could choose to "leave to the support staff." The lawyers who do that are also the ones who can be productive and profitable practitioners in the 21st Century without touching a computer keyboard. (I assume there are a few of them somewhere.)

The rest of us need to know how to create, manipulate and use documents in the PDF format. This book tells us how. Those who are experienced Acrobat users may not need it, but I am not and this book really gets right down to the things I need to know to use Acrobat in my work.

        Amazon.com

Remember the old joke "Instant gratification isn't fast enough"? That was something like the reaction Mark Breier had when he picked up a copy of The One Minute Manager, a book he'd once found profound. Now Breier, formerly CEO of Beyond.com and marketing vice president at Amazon.com, found that he was annoyed by the book's leisurely pace. So he sat down to write the Y2K version of one-minute managing, which essentially shows modern executives how to do the job in one-sixth the time.

Breier tells two stories in Internet Manager. First is how he became one after a career in the very-slow-moving world of food marketing, where he was considered lightning-quick for developing new marshmallow packaging in just six months. His year at Amazon.com showed him anything was possible if you worked hard and fast enough. And at Beyond.com, which as CEO, Breier helped to take public, he put together everything he learned to run a company. The second story is how anyone can more efficiently manage themselves and their employees. Some of the advice on financing toward the end of the book is strictly high-level stuff, but in between there's a lot of information that every busy employee can use.

One of the easiest take-home messages (or, rather, take-to-the-office messages; nobody in this world does much at home except sleep) is this: "E-mail morning, noon, and night, but talk in between." He describes e-mail as "the oxygen of the Internet," because it allows people to stay in close touch without all the forced small talk that accompanies telephone conversation. But he also acknowledges that it has its limits, and suggests this rule: "After the third e-mail on the same subject, walk 'n' talk." In other words, get up, sit down with the other person, and hash it out. Other information--about conducting more effective meetings and developing brand identity--can be used by anyone from ambitious middle managers on up. But the key word here is "ambitious." Anyone who has aspirations for a fast ascent in business today can use all the lessons in this book. And, best of all, it only takes a couple of hours to absorb the entire 10-Second message. --Lou Schuler

        Book Description

        5 CDs / 5 hours
Today, every manager is an Internet manager.  And it doesn't matter whether you're an Internet pioneer, a panicked manufacturer, or a retailer trying to cope--every manager needs help.  In The 10-Second Internet Manager, Mark Breier, an online expert, offers the tools and tricks that have made him an Internet success.

A noted Internet management consultant, Mark Breier was previously president and CEO of Beyond.com and vice-president of marketing at Amazon.com--two of the top ten e-commerce sites.  When it comes to selling in the dot-com world, he's been there/done that.  Twice.

The Ten-Second Internet Manager is a skills primer, essential for accessing the vast wealth of the electronic economy.  It's about building brand loyalty, caring asbout customers, and serving needs--traditional enough strategies--but doing them at warp speed by utilizing e-mail, customer feedback, effective meetings, and creating a faster, smarter, and more fun culture.  For anyone who's eager to start or manage an e-business, or adapt a traditional business to the Internet, it is a rich source of pivotal ideas for thriving in the information age.

2 out of 5 stars How not to manage yourself or run your business........2006-01-05

This book is an example of how not to manage yourself or your business.

The concepts introduced in this book are neither new nor meaningful, save a few. Throughout the book Mr. Breier talks about doing everything faster than light speed with not a moment to spare for anything. His motto for managing projects seems to be "ready, shoot, aim", a phrase he sprinkles liberally throughout the book. True, fast action is necessary and essential in the internet age, but too many people confuse haste with dynamism.

Mr. Breier spends a whole chapter on branding and building a consistent and recognizable brand on the ineternet. This made me laugh. It's ironic, the very company the author brags about is nowhere to be found today. Beyond.com has now become a job seekers' site, and the website oft quoted in the book, www.10secondmanager.com, now has nothing on it save a "google affiliate program" blurb. So much for branding.

The author writes a lot about the importance of feedback from customers. Towards the latter part of the book he contradicts himself by advising you to ignore message boards, forums, etc because most people who post in such places are "not your customers, not your friends". I don't know which planet this gentleman comes from, but most people I know, who post on forums and message boards are indeed users of a particular product or customers of some company or service, myself included.

This book is all about getting things done at breakneck speed (wrong or right is secondary). The basics of building a strong and long lasting company with good employee loyalty are tossed out.

I was fortunate to have picked up this book at a warehouse sale for $2. I'd have cried had I spent any more money on it. If you want to be a ruthless workaholic madman with no time to spare for your family, friends or children, being on the job 24x7x365, then this book is for you.

4 out of 5 stars streamlining everything you .......2005-03-15

This book is primarily about streamlining everything you do in you normal work day so you're moving at light speed. I thought it was full of excellent tips to help manage your time and effort. I've applied many of the ideas with dramatic results. Suddenly things get done so much quicker and I have more time to focus on the important things. I think this book is full of a lot of great tips.... however... I've noticed that I've given this book a higher rating than a lot of other readers. The bad reviews this book gets usually say "all the stuff he says is so simple and obvious". So I'd just like to point out that it's very easy to say "oh that's easy, everyone knows that", but it's not as easy to do the easy things that everyone already knows.

EX: Everyone knows excersise is good for you. Everyone knows how to do a push up, and everyone know it will help strengthen your arms. However, how many people do as little as 1 push-up a day?

        (...)

2 out of 5 stars If he knew so much, why are all of his companies bankrupt?.......2004-08-12

Reading this book today is like reading a book of jokes. When the author wrote this, he was riding the wave of "internet madness" that walloped Wall Street with outrageous stock prices for companies that never produced any profit. Mark Breier was simply a man at the right place at the right time and any insights he has on how to effectively run a business is hindered by the facts that both beyond.com and software.net are now nowhere to be found on the internet.

However, an enterprising entrepreneur can read this book and learn what not to do. In addition, there is a paragraph or two that talks about venture capital personalities you will encounter.

In summary, do not buy this book if you are looking for successful ways to run your business as a manager. Taking much of his advise will undoubtedly bring you to his final demise. (In fact, he is no longer a CEO; he is back to Chief of Marketing)

1 out of 5 stars A relic even before it hit store shelves.......2004-07-23

This book should be where beyond.com is right now - in the trash. A perfect example of the smug "there at the right time" internet millionaire espousing common sense, and uncommon nonsense as business practice.

The tone of the book clearly broadcasts the authors ego and self importance. The content, however, reveals the truth; the bubble was always just full of hot air.

If are searching for a reference to help improve your management skills, look elsewhere.

        5 out of 5 stars scott.......2002-04-26

"Proud City will have reason to be proud!"
              —June Schmid

Amo Sulaiman tells us that we currently live in a millennial age, precipitating all manner of cultural and political re-evaluation.

Proud City proposes a reasonable solution to all the world's problems by allowing the youth to break free of the shackles of the oldies and revise society and law accordingly. If only the youth could lead the world, everything would be all right.

This book is one that can be read in many different ways rather than having a single, rigid meaning.

"Incredible. It's like reading ten books in one. It makes you think and yet laugh, serious and yet witty."

From an international leader in document design, research-based insights about writing and visualizing documents that people can use . . .

This book is for writers and graphic designers who create the many types of documents people use every day at home or school, in business or government. From high-tech instruction manuals and textbooks to health communications and information graphics, to online information and World Wide Web pages, this book offers one of the first research-based portraits of what readers need from documents and of how document designers can take those needs into account.

Drawing on research about how people interpret words and pictures, this book presents a new and more complete image of the reader—a person who is not only trying to understand prose and graphics but who is responding to them aesthetically and emotionally.

5 out of 5 stars The resource I keep coming back to..........2005-08-10

This book is the most useful one I've found on the subject. Design books of all stripes (document-design focused or otherwise) have a tendency to provide "principles" without ever providing real support for said principles. Books will be loaded with recommendations that may or may not be well supported by data, quantified or at least well documented study results, etc.

Schriver's book does exactly the opposite, and this is why it is longer than many others. It is impossible to read about Schriver's document design principles and not know exactly where they came from. Virtually every recommendation is, for once, well supported by research findings. This book never tells you to do something without first explaining why it should be done.

If you're looking for a short-and-sweet book that conveys the most basic principles of document design ("principles" that may in fact be a designer's personal preferences), this isn't it.

If you're looking for a book that will help you make better design decisions and help you understand why to make these decisions over others, then this is the book for you. After all, it isn't so unusual for professional designers and others in the workplace to have to explain exactly why they've made certain choices over others, and this book can help.

2 out of 5 stars Not what the title explains.......2005-04-26

This book could be cut off to more than half pages it is now. The information is over explained and reader gets bored.

              Better luck next time!

5 out of 5 stars The benchmark in its field.......2005-03-06

The reviewers who say this book is wordy and over-long just don't get it. This is not a "how to do it in five easy lessons" handbook. If you find a book like that - burn it! Books like that are usually self-published by amateurs who don't understand the complexities of the field, and they are worse than useless. In fact, they are often filled with advice that has been so oversimplified that it is actually wrong. You CANNOT learn document design in five easy lessons.

Conversely, Schriver's book is a refreshingly thoughtful, well-researched, and comprehensive overview of document design. It starts with the history and philosophy of document design and continues through contemporary needs and trends. It contains especially strong advocacy for usability studies, including documentation of those conducted by the author and her colleagues. It's about time we document creators stopped "blaming the user" and started taking responsibility to make improvements when documents are hard to understand.

Document design is a relatively new field of study, so the comprehensive timeline of its development is a gold mine, especially since no author has attempted it before. This type of in-depth research is sorely needed.

Schriver explains things in a way that is clear and compelling, with lots of thoroughly documented examples and supporting charts, tables, and graphics for clarification. And her research spans several decades, which is invaluable for tracking the evolution of document design. She has produced an unparalleled work which will be the benchmark against which other books are measured for a long time.

3 out of 5 stars Thoughtful, but overly long and loosely held together.......2003-11-22

For an author who believes in giving priority to readers, she actually does a rather poor job considering her reader. She is an academic and as such has the foible of wanting to put all her knowledge on display. So she's done little trimming and condensing of her material into a form that is really useful to readers who want to quickly get to core ideas about document design theory and practice.
The opening chapter abstracts are unnecessarily long, and just repeat what shortly follows in the body of the chapter. While I liked the way she put document design in a social and historical context, this could have been done much more succinctly. The long timeline is too tangentially related to what readers really want to know about, namely document design, to interest many of them. It seems included because the professor did a lot of research and just hated not to have more to show for it than a few succinct paragraphs.
Later chapters presenting the results of various reader response studies are interesting enough, but surely we could move more quickly to the results and their relevance to document design without spending so much time with dry narration of the actual empirical testing.
The theoretical section offers a long overview of theoretical approaches, arguing in favor of a rhetorical approach. Yet the chapters that go on to apply the theory offer advice and conclusions that hardly seem to warrant such a heavyweight theoretical foundation. For instance, the chapter on typography just offers familiar practical advice of the sort one gets in many introductory books on typography. The same is true about the long section about grids. All the opening theory favoring rhetorical approaches yields results that sound very close to the plain old common sense of the non-theoretical how-to craft school that gets debunked in the opening. So she does not end up making a very strong case for the value of her own theoretical approach, and we feel we waded through a lot of theory without much benefit.
In reality, I think she does have a case and she does have some good examples of how attending to the reader through empirical research can improve document design. But her ideas would be much more forcefully and usefully presented in 200 as opposed to 500 pages.

1 out of 5 stars Terribly wordy - lots of deadwood.......2003-01-29

Sorry - I would not recommend this book to a TECHNICAL writer.

This book has 559 pages and could be cut down to maybe 100 pages of useful information. Each chapter has a full page explaining the chapter... if you have to do that, you haven't planned and written the chapter well. A good product sells itself.

It takes the author 5 pages in the preface to explain the book! It also has a lot of side head paragraphs explaining more... explaining the explanations. This book was painful reading for me... I kept thinking "bla bla bla bla bla"

This book seems to have a lot of the author's opinions and theory, but not very much practical information.

3 out of 5 stars Lots of Tips.......1999-02-12

Gosh! I found this book useful and am amazed at the flames of other readers. I found information here that none of the other (Que, Sams, Wrox, etc.) books had. For example: Mailto, Submit-it. In this it solved some problems for commercial pages I had developed that I could not (repeate could not) find in any other book (or even the news groups). The only reason I graded it down was due to the organization. There I do agree with the other readers. It would seem that this book was rushed out the door to print.

Having had little to no experience in web site design and creation this book gives a thorough grounding in all aspects of commercial web site creation. It abounds with resources and ideas. A highly practical "grammar" to dealing with all stages of site creation, from initial concept through to creating a sophisticated web site mechanism which works!!.

A straightforward nononsense approach is adopted throughout. An excellent buy and excellent value for money. Thank you very much to Kim Hampton-et-al and I am looking forward to purchasing the 2nd Edition.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent resource for the beginning professional designer........1998-05-21

This book has a lot. If you need a one-stop source of information, this is the one. I use it constantly developing sites for my customers. Although it serves as a site planning and design guide, it has an excellent quick-reference section and HTML concepts are boiled down as well as any 'Teach Yourself' book I've read.

If you are interested in providing freelance web design skills (including graphics) or starting your own firm, this book will serve you well as a launching pad to a new professional career.

                Book Description

This book provides a user-friendly introduction to the spirituality of magic. Written for the person newly interested in magic, as well as the veteran Witch, it helps the reader discover the power and beauty of magic through eternal values such as love, compassion, hope, trust, and practicality. This is not a book full of spells or lists of magical ingredients. Rather, it reveals the principles of magical energy and power, helping the reader to understand what makes magic work and why. After mastering the spiritual principle, the reader will be empowered not only to work effective spells, but to also find happiness and joy-with or without a spell. With a warm, friendly, and positive tone, Before You Cast a Spell invites readers to think carefully and make their own thoughtful decisions about the role of magic in their lives.

3 out of 5 stars Think before you act........2007-01-29

Although this book was easy to read and understand it left alot out that I felt should have been discussed under this heading. It seemed more wishy-washy, fluffy bunny type of book than what I had anticipated and I was sadly disappointed after reading it.

5 out of 5 stars The title tells it all.......2007-01-02

There ARE *very important* things to know *before* you begin any serious spell working. Sadly, what most 'newbie-pagans' only want are the answers. They aren't patient enough, nor perhaps mature or smart enough, to realise that first you have to know how to ask the questions. (I recommend they read Aesop's fable, "The Tortoise and the Hare") The book is well laid out and appropriately informative.

1 out of 5 stars Title is Deceiving.......2006-12-31

A more appropriate title would be "Before You Cast a Spell: Understanding ethics." He doesn't get into writing spells at all. He explains nothing about how power works, and what's worse, it comes across that he doesn't even really believe in magik at all... There's nothing worse than trying to learn something from someone who doesn't believe what they are teaching.

He's extremely preachy on ethics, to the point where it gets irritating. And the other reviewers are right in that he is most definately on a high horse.

I was mainly disappointed because I thought this book might actually get into how magik works, how to write your own spells, and stuff like that. IT NEVER DOES. EVER.

I wouldn't suggest this book to anyone. If you want a book about how to write your own spells try "Your Book Of Shadows: How to Write Your Own Magickal Spells" by Patricia Telesco.

3 out of 5 stars Good For Beginners?.......2006-09-05

As much as I loathe the author, he actually makes some good points for beginners in magick. The one setback is having to read through why this guy thinks he's freakin' Superman before you get any real info. All in all, the info's there you just have to hunt for it.

5 out of 5 stars Step one - know what you are doing..........2005-10-28

Here is a book for beginners unlike any other. This small, entertaining and easy to read volume has the odd feature of not containing a single spell. Among the sea of Cast-a-Spell variety books that have little or no information in them about the "why" and "why not" of spell casting this book stands out like a diamond surrounded by coal lumps.

Mr. McColman quotes an old proverb that says, "Give a man a fish, and you've fed him for a day. Teach him how to fish, and you've helped him feed himself for a lifetime." In a few short chapters, the author explores the ethics of magic in depth, something that is sadly lacking in other Wicca 101 books. He explodes myths generally assumed by a newcomer and replaces the myth with reality.

In several chapters he talks about what magic can and cannot do for you. He also explains why ethical magicians do not cast certain types of spells. He explains what magic is, where it comes from and how it works. He carefully explains why some spells work and others simply won't. He talks about spirituality and a path to a magical life. And he talks about ethics, again.

The reader is given a strong foundation on which to base their magical work. Mr. McColman will give the most inexperienced Witch the confidence and skill necessary to apply magic to every area of their lives.
