Good book for uneducated teachers with regards to law.......2001-03-21

With all the horror stories we hear about teachers being fired and sued over decesions they made about punishment and what to teach and how to teach, this book is a gold mine. It provides information on just about any topic a teach may encounter. Not only does it have great information, it is also written with few "legal trade" words.

This book is prevented from being a practical guide by covering too much ground in one volume. A better approach would have been to divide the content into two volumes - one for teachers only. While it is a good thing to review case law, I would have found it more helpful if it had included steps for remedy.

Beneath the Surface . . . .......2005-03-06

The author obviously has vast real-world experience with the very complicated ways that a business might be bought/sold and, more importantly, examined and disclosed with the more delicate and not so obvious aspects of solely owned small business. This takes considerable tact and presentation skills. Additionally, he does a good job valuing a business from many different perspectives; you can't just be a numbers guy, doing fundamental analysis and expect to be successful as an entrepreneur. The book could probably be condensed somewhat and while the tone is most formal, he does an excellent job of dealing with the gray areas that professionals are not always comfortable talking about without making the small business owner out to look, uh, shall we say overly creative. This book is very helpful.
