1 out of 5 stars Needs revision!.......2005-02-17

This book as an intro is outdated, needs a new edition. Many references are gone, websites no longer exist, many case studies are now subscriptions and require a credit card for access, ahhh the free internet is gone, if used for instructional purposes may need a disclaimer on objectionable content.

2 out of 5 stars Inaccurate reading.......2004-04-30

I Have been in the Computer and Internet field for over 10 years, owning no less than 3 domains for over 5 years, and working in a MAJOR NOC for over 8 years, I know a bit about E-Commerce.

The author of this book seems to have lived in some other world, as he does NOT seem acquainted with Internet terminologies much at all! He seems to make up his own terms and definitions for MANY areas and create his own words for these definitions.

Where SOME of the information is good and presented well, much is WAY off. Not really a good book in my mind for a beginner, as they would be lost in an attempt to use the information in the REAL world of Internet.

My advise, try another book first. His real goal seems not to educate readers on Proper Internet, but to assist in promoting the publishers other books.

Save your money!

Book Description

Legalines gives you authoritative, detailed briefs of every major case in your casebook. You get a clear explanation of facts, the issues, the court's holding and reasoning, and any significant concurrences or dissents. Even more importantly, you get an authoritative explanation of the significance of each case, and how it relates to other cases in your casebook. And with Legalines' detailed table of cases, you can quickly find any case or concept you're looking for.

But your professor expects you to know more than just the cases. That's why Legalines gives you more than just case briefs. You get summaries of the black letter law as well. That's crucial because some of the most important information in your casebooks isn't in the cases at all… it's the black letter principles you're expected to glean from those cases.

Legalines is the only study aid that gives you both case briefs and black letter review. With Legalines, you get everything you need to know - whether it's in a case or not!

Customer Reviews:

1 out of 5 stars absolute garbage bordering on fraud.......2007-09-24

This book claims to be a casebrief keyed to murphy, in fact there isnt a single case from the murphy casebook in this brief. The reason? This is a casebrief for a casebook entitled "studies in contract law" not "contracts". Be extremely careful to make sure which casebook you are buying for.

You have been warned, I am now behind schedule. Lets see if i learn enough this semester to sue these people :p.

4 out of 5 stars Great for Outlining and Briefing.......2002-12-09

I found this book immensely helpful for briefing for class. It doesn't take the place of reading the casebook material, but helps to clarify the big picture, particularly if you're having trouble understanding a case. I also used it as a topic guide when I started outlining -- the expanded table of contents works perfectly as a guide for your outline, especially when you're a 1L and you're not really sure exactly how to DO an outline. However, be careful if you use it to study -- I found a few inaccuracies in the material. Mostly they involved switching the Restatements around, and giving you the wrong number. Other than that, it's a good inexpensive book to help get you through the first year.

5 out of 5 stars Legalines: Contracts: Adaptable to 5th Edition of Murphy.......2000-11-21

A necessity for any 1st year law student, Legalines Contracts for the Murphy casebook is a godsend for students. Beside outlining each case in the Murphy casebook and making complicated fact patterns crystal-clear, this book places all the cases in outline form. Students can read the cases in context of the entire course, connecting how each case fits into an overview of Contract law. Easy to read and filled with only necessary detail, this book is a must for any student using the Murphy casebook.

5 out of 5 stars Inspiring and Precise.......2001-11-22

This is one of the most inspiring book I've read. It has been carefully presented in the most simplified form. Any would-be entrepreneur will definitely pick up something valuable from this book in their quest for success. With up to 70 world renowned entrpreneur as your Guru, nothing could possibily go wrong.

Buy and keep a copy close by, whenever you're feeling down or run out of ideas in your long and lonely journey to success, you need all the help and "lift" you could get and this is when the Gurus will come and save your day.

        3 out of 5 stars a lot of quotes..........2001-10-25

Basically this book is a collection of quotes lifted from secondary sources. The authors then take them and write about entrepeneurship trying to extract the key concepts.
I was not excited about the purchase although I imagine if you have limited experience in this area, you will gain some benefit.
I am an active angel investor and previously ran companies in both the USA and England.

This is entrepreneur advice straight from the horses' mouths. In this case, the horses are 70 well-known entrepreneurs who reveal their success secrets on everything from identifying a good business concept to raising money, getting and keeping customers and managing people. Authors Joseph H. Boyett and Jimmie T. Boyett draw on material written by and about these start-up monarchs and end each chapter with a concise summary of the lessons that a reader should glean from their stories. In addition, they include a useful appendix with summary bios of each of the men and women cited or quoted in the book. We [...] invite budding entrepreneurs to enjoy this book while picking up some invaluable pointers, while more experienced businesspeople are encouraged to browse its pages and collect some dandy quotes to throw around the conference table.

5 out of 5 stars Visionary and Tenacious Entrepreneurship.......2001-07-25

The Boyetts provide one of the most informative books in which various prominent entrepreneurs ("gurus") share their experiences as well as their ideas. What sets this book apart from most others is the fact that, rather than use the interview format, the Boyetts organize their material within six thematic chapters: Should You Do It?, The Perfect Idea, Money Matters, getting Customers, Keeping Customers, and Managing People. As they explain in their Introduction, "You hold in your hand a digest of the best thinking about what it takes to start your own business and succeed, but we have designed this to be more than just a digest. It also provides you with a much needed cross-reference to the best thinking about the key issues in starting and running a business." That's true. It is also true that almost any other senior-level managers of well-established organizations (including global corporations) can also derive substantial benefit from such "best thinking." Consider these brief remarks by Jack Welch when explaining what GE can learn from entrepreneurial companies:

"For one, they communicate better. Without the din and prattle of bureaucracy, people listen as well as talk; and since there are fewer of them they generally know and understand each other. Second, small companies move faster. They know the penalties for hesitation in the marketplace. Third, in small companies, with fewer layers and less camouflage, the leaders show up very clearly on the screen. Their performance and its impact are clear to everyone. And, finally, smaller companies waste less. They spend less time in endless reviews and approvals and politics and paper drills. They have fewer people; therefore they can only do the important things. Their people are free to direct their energy and attention toward the marketplace rather than fighting bureaucracy."

These remarks are especially relevant to several of the "gurus" whom the Boyetts feature, including Paul Allen and Bill Gates, Mary Kay Ash, Jeffrey R. Bezos, Warren Buffett, Walt Disney, Wayne Huizenga, Steven Jobs, Herb Kelleher, Tom Monaghan, Ross Perot, Ted Turner, and Sam Walton...all of whom created multi-billion dollar global corporations with visionary and tenacious entrepreneurship. Those who share my regard for this book are urged to consult the "Select Bibliography" the Boyetts provide to which I presume to add Visionary Business (Marc Allen), Entrepreneur America (Rob Ryan), and Growing a Business (Paul Hawken).

              Book Description

An important contribution to the economic literature, this book provides a systematic analysis of the problems of economic growth and stability presented by the changing role of energy in modern economics. The result of a massive study by the author of the effects of energy and energy shocks on the world economy, the volume is organized around the theme that energy is an integral feature of the economy and that any interpretation of short-term movements in economic activity is likely to be seriously at fault if it neglects energy supply changes and their repercussions. The author takes both an historical and theoretical approach to the subject, providing students and scholars of energy economics and political economy with a logical framework within which key worldwide energy issues and problems can be analyzed. Following an overview of the nature and roots of the energy crisis, Tsai examines the economic aspects of complex contemporary energy issues and problems. He provides a valuable introduction to the technological characteristics of energy, explores future prospects for world energy supply, and offers a synopsis of key elements of U.S. energy legislation. The theoretical and empirical underpinnings of energy-economy interactions and the application of microeconomic techniques to the analysis of energy resources also receive thorough treatment. With the knowledge gained from this book, the reader will be well-equipped to make sound economic judgments concerning energy issues.

From the supplier: The East Asian financial crisis has been brought about by a number of economic factors, including the region's debt-financed condition which was not regularly monitored. The association of the Thai baht's performance with that of the American dollar significantly contributed to the financial crisis because there were no formal economic and financial policies between the two countries. Firms, households and banks also helped advanced the crisis by underestimating risks associated with overinvesting because of the consistent performance of the regional countries' GDP.

From the author: Little is known about the efficacy of Internet Parent Support Groups (IPSGs). This exploratory study describes factors related to use of Internet Parent Support Groups (IPSGs) by primary caregivers of Children with Special Health Care Needs (CSHCN). An Internet survey was administered to 114 participants using stress and coping theory as a guide for measuring perceived satisfaction, stressors, social support, personal characteristics, appraisal, positive and negative emotion, coping, timing, somatic health, physical functioning, family relationships, and well-being. The majority of participants not only obtained what they sought, but found more than expected in terms of insight and people to trust. The strongest outcome factor related to satisfaction was improved caregiver-CSHCN relationship, and nearly 90% of the sample suggested participating in an IPSG as soon as possible. Nurses may want to consider IPSGs as an adjunct for social support in this population.

George Moore's guide attacks the core of financial distress. Forgive Us offers insights from one who has been there and wisdom that will benefit everyone who has ever felt the terror of feeling not in control. Money difficulties often run in families and George traces the roots of family dis-ease that amplify the problems. But for every difficulty illuminated, there are deliberate steps to recovery and hints from thousands who have found peace of mind.
