Since around the turn of the millennium there has been a general acceptance that one of the more practical improvements one may make in the light of the shortfalls of the classical Black-Scholes model is to replace the underlying source of randomness, a Brownian motion, by a Lévy process. Working with Lévy processes allows one to capture desirable distributional characteristics in the stock returns. In addition, recent work on Lévy processes has led to the understanding of many probabilistic and analytical properties, which make the processes attractive as mathematical tools. The book's title is clearly a misnomer as there are no (IMHO) advanced Option pricing methods presented in this book. In fact, as another reviewer alluded to, the methods presented are simply wrong. I would certainly NOT recommend this book to anyone unless your goal is to lose money. Avoid.
Option Analysis for Trading Systems.......2005-07-26
Katz's book on Advanced Options Pricing offers traders additional insight into limitations and errors found in traditional pricing models. For those of us that write mechanical options trading systems, particularly combination models, Jeff's book is a must read. If you are an options price researcher looking for in depth advanced pricingmodel discovery, analysis and mathematics, this book is probably not for you. However, if you are looking at ways to improve your existing models thus converging the error between empirically derived options system equity curves and those equity curves derived from options models, you should read this book. As most traders know, efficient entry and exit points in the market often occur during periods when pricing models break down, so the more you can learn about options behavior during this transient period, the better your overall trading system will be.
Poor on all fronts.......2005-05-04
A really poor book advocating stupid and discredited linear models in ARCH and GARCH for trading options. The trading strategies are sure to loose you money, or worse, lull you into taking a lot of risk for a minimal gain (a negative Sharpe ratio).

Mr. Daigler's work, Advanced Options Trading, provides a sound overview of option pricing models and the variables that influence pricing for stocks, futures, and exotics. The model of focus is Black-Scholes, though I give Mr. Daigler credit for a renewed look at works by Cox, Rubenstein, and Ross. In addition to the sometimes-tedious theoretics of options, Daigler examines hedging techniques and arbitrage. Overall, a rigid yet unimaginative examination of derivatives, nothing surprising just reaffirming. Floor trading and market makers may find its presentation a pleasant refresher, otherwise look to McMillian or Sheldon Natenburg's works.

Missing vital piece of info for existing homeowners.......2006-12-24
This was a good book with a lot of valuable information but was missing the one thing I was looking for...how to buy a new home when it's contingent on your existing home selling. I've visited many new home communities that didn't want to give me the time of day when they found out I had to sell my existing house in order to purchase a new home. I had hoped the authors would have discussed the options available for the many people in my situation.
A MUST Have Book.......2006-01-16
I work in a Real Estate office and am recommending this book to the agents who work there. Most Real Estate Agents don't know how to represent the New Home Buyer. Most will find the property for you, help write a contract (standard one from the home builder) and then wait for their commission check. Oh sure, they'll give you some advice and may even order a independent home inspection, but I have never seen one do all this book says they should. Even if you are buying a resale home, I would recommend this book, every home was new once and the points of researching the builder and development is invaluable. Buy this book along wih a highlighter -- there are gems on every page.

This increased economic openness has been accompanied by profound changes in both economic organization and regional disparity. The authors examine the effect of globalization on regional disparities in terms of income, regional growth, industrial location, urban-rural opposition, performance of the firm, human capital and mortality. In each case they provide new insights into the main changes in the Chinese economy and give original explanations as to the sources of regional diversity. The authors find that on the whole, regional disparities in China have tended to increase since reforms were introduced. They illustrate that this rise of inequality, in terms of both growth and income, results from the aptitudes of different regions to seize the new opportunities afforded to them by market developments. They also demonstrate how current regional disparities and increased competition will go hand in hand with a polarization of industrial development in a few privileged regions.
