This is great book. It gives the real story behind brown vs the board of education. Also, it gives a lot of history relating to the struggles of black people in the last 100 years.

"Bearing Witness to the Truth" -- All Deliberate Speed.......2004-05-26

All Deliberate Speed bears witness to the truth about our two party education system. This book should be on the required reading list for all students in both high school and college. It is a must read for law students who take, or contemplate taking constitutional law courses or anyone who truly wants to understand the impact of Brown v. Board of Education.

All Deliberate Speed speaks the truth. In some chapters the author gives you hope and in other chapters, the author allows the reader to ponder the future. Reading and understanding this book should help eliminate un-substantiated bias against integration. However, there is no question that the author points out the damage racial segregation, housed and surrounded by inequality, does to our society.

For example, in chapter six, Ogletree clearly exposes the reader to the fact that our government denied African-Americans full citizenship rights through legislation, judicial decisions as well as Jim Crow customs and behaviors.

Was the denial of full citizenship rights (education, accommodations, housing, voting) for African-Americans a grant of "affirmative action" for the white majority? Does the phrase "all deliberate speed" give or take away from the impact or the seriousness of the Brown decisions? Ogletree addresses these question and others in his 'adept' analysis of the decisions in Brown v. Board I and in Brown v. Board II.

Ogletree masterfully points out that a proper education includes, but is not limited to ethnic diversity, safe buildings, good teacher pay, desks, books, parental involvement, technology, etc. A proper education for all supports ones ability to successfully integrate oneself into our society and is germane to our survival as a nation. All Deliberate Speed is an excellent, excellent book. Easy to read, easy to understand, provocative, educational and truthful. Separate but equal is inherently un-equal.

Riveting!.......2004-05-25

As a first gerneration recipient of the benefits of Brown v Board of Education, it was enlightning to get a up-close view of the behind the scene goings-on of the attempts to stall and erode the promise of "Brown". This is a must read for the public..... to be aware of the diabolical machinations that go on in the back rooms of power to attempt to deny the basic and fundamental right to a good education.

Professor Ogletree illustrates that the promise of "Brown" remains unfulfilled and that we cannot stop fighting the resistance to that promise.

4. 6 primary facets of effective listening.
5. Initiating a harmonious atmosphere and displaying proper etiquette and grooming are very important in making a favorable first impression.
6. Summaries of the different types of approaches salespeople may use in a sales call.
7. Reasons why customers resist buying.
8. Techniques to get a commitment from a customer.
9. Repeat business is the lifeline of any business. While new business is important, it is more important to keep existing customers happy.
10. Tips on handling customer complaints.

While the book is meant to be more of a college textbook instead of something you may find by Zig Ziglar, John Maxwell, and others, the title contains good practical advice for the beginning or veteran salesperson. Having been in sales for over 10 years, I still benefitted from reading the book and will apply the pointers in future sales calls.

While the book is pricey compared to other authors (Ziglar, etc.), the book would be an excellent sales class taught at the college level.

This book/CD is a waste of your time and money, mostly of your money as you can breeze through this ultra lightweight treatment in about 15 minutes. I got the impression that this was originally some kid's grade school video project because of its amateurish production values and condescendingly elementary content. It offers only the most superficial insight into body language and does not offer the depth of information you should expect (...). One segment even contains a clip of a child who looks to be all of 11, trying to convince his little friend that his Harry Potter book is really, really good...with that being about the extent of the little guy's persuasive skills, not withstanding his body language. It may be convincing if you're 11, but the whole package still has the feel of a 5th grade skit. And that kind of nonsense is passed off as some kind of professionally useful insight into body language, ostensibly produced for adult salespeople.

In the spirit of trying out their technique, I am leaning forward as I tell you that this thing is really, really bad. Photos and videos are small and grainy, making it difficult to see the postures and expressions the models are using. And making matters worse, the monotoned narrator is completely unenthusiastic and flat. I thought it was Emo Phillips at first.

This book/CD, despite its serious price, is not serious training for professional salespeople, in fact, it's insulting to view and would be embarrassing to show to others. Get the gold fish and forget this deal.

One of the key constraints to accelerated economic performance in developing countries is, in the authors' view, the absence of strong, dynamic financial systems. Many, if not most, developing countries suffer from repressed financial systems. Thus the most important step in effecting the development of capital markets is to lay a foundation of sound macroeconomic and regulatory policies conducive to financial sector development. This book presents an approach to financial sector reform composed of financial sector diagnosis, policy and institutional targeting, macroeconomic reforms, bank regulation and supervisory reform, and privatization. The work also presents criteria to help decision-makers apply the approach. The issues and approaches presented are as relevant to the emerging democracies of Eastern Europe and such transitional countries as Brazil and Mexico as they are to developing countries. The authors begin with an introductory discussion of the two-pronged strategy of financial reform and privatization and then, in chapter 2, provide an overview of developing financial systems. Chapter 3 discusses the public/private debate. Chapter 4 is devoted to financial sector liberalization, and chapter 5 goes on to discuss the privatization of financial institutions. A framework for financial reform and privatization is presented in chapter 6, and chapter 7 provides concluding comments. In addition, a series of case studies are presented in the appendix. These case studies demonstrate the methods and strategies used to address financial sector reform in Bangladesh, Chile, Guinea, Jamaica, Mexico, and the Philippines.
