Ethics of the International Monetary Systems follows the attempts to establish a form of control over international monetary systems from the Gold Standard system to the floating exchange rates of today. Since the inception of these systems, economists have criticized them as fundamentally unfair to countries that have not adopted the strict market rigors of Western-style capitalism. Samuel Sarri presents an ethical approach to evaluating the history of economic theory. Then he puts forth a new approach to international monetary systems that involves grouping similar countries and cultures in trading blocs called "regional competitive cooperatives" that fairly compete with one another, while boosting global development and respecting heterogeneous, regional value-systems and axiologies. He uses the successes of International Free Trade Agreements and the monetary union of Europe as a guide. Sarri's system aspires to achieve the classical ideals of global financial and monetary harmony. It takes into account the idea of multipolar power sharing, the economic outlooks, the diverse ethical views, the metaphysical and religious systems, histories, and cultures of the parts that compose the economic and political planetary whole.

This is a polished, tasteful, grammatically precise rhetoric in the manner of Alexandrian Classicists. Work is accurate and logical. This book describes earlier attempts at workable banking and currency systems and then defines the only type which could work. A fine effort.

Here's a book that breaks down the steps required to take technical information and both organize it and write it so the higher-ups have a clue as to what's going on. It gives a good measure of practical advice from an author who has made a career in teaching engineers how to write well. It is thorough, well-constructed, useful and down-to-earth. A reader can use it for self-study or it works as the basis for more formalized training. The only reason for 4 stars rather than 5 is that the technology involved with document preparation is advancing rapidly, and it's not possible to include some newer technologies in a book that is a couple of years old.

SEO&P isn't so much of a book on optimization than it is a collection of bits and pieces of information on search engine marketing along with some tracking strategies. The information contained inside is about as dated as one would expect a five year old book on SEO to be but it's not so much about the information as it is about the processes involved in doing what needs to be done in an SEO campaign.

With that said, there is really nothing here that hasn't been blogged about or talked about in forums for the past several years. This "course" would have worked better as a free PDF download, as it contains less than 40 full pages of content, in larger than normal type!) The rest of the pages are for note taking.

While there is nothing here that is downright incorrect, it's certainly not the most current or the most valuable information you can find elsewhere for less.

Do NOT Buy This Book.......2003-10-23

Absolutely do NOT buy this book. Daniel Harty's page analysis is not quite accurate. There are approx. 110 physical page sides, of which the first 6 are title, ISBN, contents, etc., followed by a mix of 36 blank log pages + 40 content pages, and the last 28 pages are entirely BLANK for "Notes"! Have you ever seen so many blank pages at the end of any other book? Even for complete beginners, the 40 content pages are next to useless, mainly promoting the authors' own website for online promotion, where they solicit "Donations".

Authors, you should be ashamed of yourselves. You disingenuously say "Terry and I actually wrote this little book for ourselves." So why publish and charge for it?

This book made is plain and simple for me on how to get organized and how to approach writing my web pages. I had seen stuff here and there on the internet but to have the nuts and bolts of it explained clearly helped me out. Great for a beginner just starting out.

THEFT - PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK.......2002-12-19

I cant stress stongly enough that buying this book is a waste of time and money. It is in total 76 pages long - 36 of which are completly blank log pages. So to the 40 pages of content - two of which are dedicated entirely on how to organise a brainstorming session - what the hell has that to do with SEO. Oh an by the way the only search engine they deal with is Alta Vista. At least hes honest.

However, what I am really here to tell you is that, SEO is easy. Our book is VERY BASIC, because learning the essentials of SEO is easy. The book is a journal. There are tips on how to optimize, but it is more of a workbook to keep you organized, the key to a good SEO campaign is organization.

If you're looking for a technical book, this is not the book for you. This is the layman's way to SEO nirvana.

Great overview of the Pacific Rim.......2007-09-25

The Global Studies series is a great way to get a general overview about a region of the world and its quick history. Each country is divided up into a quick overview of demographics, trade, economics, population and other pertinent data similar to a scaled down CIA world fact book. There is then a general overview of each country and how it has played its part in the region with a particular focus on World War II to the present. Finally there are about 24 articles in this one that focus on all sorts of different aspects from the region. They address everything from gambling opportunities in Macau to population control in Japan. Overall this book does an excellent job of capturing the Pacific Rim and the countries that reside there. It is a great start to learning about the region and provides an overview that will give you a focus to direct further investigations. If you are just getting started on this area of the world as I am you will find it an invaluable resource.

Despite the negative press Asian economies have received in connection with the recent financial crisis, their record of spectacular growth over the past few decades remains irrefutable. In an effort to provide a rich, textured analysis of these economies, editor W. Mark Fruin presents a collection of essays that explores the wide range of network organizations that have been established in the Pacific Rim. Conventional studies of economic organization have tended to center on markets and hierarchies, the two forms of organization most common in the West. But today the world moves too quickly and too unpredictably for the idealized organizations of microeconomic theory to keep up. It is no accident that the region that has generated the world's most explosive economic growth is also the region where network organizations--sets of independent actors who cooperate frequently for mutual advantage--are most pervasive. Rapid economic, social, and technical changes favor the formation of network organizations, and vice versa. The contributors to this volume identify and elucidate four basic types of networks: naturally occurring networks, market replacing networks, hierarchy replacing networks, and market enhancing networks. They show how all of these have been shaped by the history, government, legal system, and culture of each country under consideration. These network organizations allow the authors to compare and contrast network forms in China, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and the United States according to features such as degrees of formalization, rule definition, and market conformance. The works collected here make an important contribution to a networks-markets- hierarchies framework that recognizes and emphasizes the diversity of organizational forms and behaviors.
