I think Ms. O"Brien hit the nail right on the head. What it is all about is being able to define what YOU believe is the key to success and to live you life in that way. As long as you live up to your expectations, that is what really counts. At least to me anyway.

On another note, I personally met Ginny and she is a fabulous person with extrordinary insight. Her book is not a bunch of mumbo-jumbo, but actual experiences of real people. I would recommend this book for those who question their idea of success. It is very enlightening.

Positive and Uplifting.......1999-07-24

This book has been a tremendous experience for me -- on par with Sally Helgesen's "The Female Advantage" which I read several years ago. This is a wonderful follow-up to that life-changing book. "Success on our Own Terms" is a celebration of the diversity of paths that women have carved in the business world. The creativity of the women's decisions, and the companies that supported them, is inspiring. The title of the book is apt -- the definition of success itself is not an absolute. While the book strongly identifies the need for mentors, it also clearly shows that the traditional career paths, and the myths associated with those paths, don't always fit the situation or the individual. Ultimately, these women are doing what is right for them, celebrating the complex lives that they are determined to live to the fullest. It gives one hope -- for women and for the business world.

This book first came to my attention by several clients who were surprised that it was not on my client reading list. They were right - this book is a gem. Virginia O'Brian has done her homework. This well researched and well written book is both useful and inspiring. A must for any woman serious about her carreer.

I loved this book. The title told me what to expect before I read it. And it was well outlined and well-written. It includes a seminar planning master checklist, and the following 10 chapters:

This book is more a meeting planner guide than a how-to create and present seminar content. But the book does include Chapter 7 which does a pretty good wham-bam-thank-you-mam job of the ins-and-outs of writing and delivering the content for a seminar.

The author is a marketing director for a consulting firm that helps professionals and small businesses generate new business through prospecting seminars, trade and consumer shows, and business networking events. Apparently she has been in this line of work for sometime, and this book is a write-up of what she does for a living. 5 stars!

I wish I had this book a few years ago. It would have saved me from a few problems I could have easily avoided, even though I thought I was Mr. Know-it-All when it came to credit and debt.
It gives you the low-down on how credit scores are figured out, the agencies that do the reporting and how you can be in trouble based on the number of accounts you have, collection actions against you, past due payments and delinquent accounts.
OK, so you're faced with mounting debt. Relax. You can get back in the game by determining what is causing your growing money problems. The author explains in detail how to use debt-to-income ratio calculations to lower your debt in your monthly budget while including necessary savings in those budgets, as well as using credit counselors, negotiating a payment plan with creditors and other helpful methods.
The book points out how to open safe accounts that will show potential creditors you can pay your bills and save money, and how you can correct inaccuracies in your credit information.
Burrell details the different types of cards and loans to look for in order to maintain a good credit rating on your path to recovery. The more you understand credit, the better you are able to take advantage of the options available, the author explains.

This book is a study of labor relations and the first generation of skilled workers in colonial Korea, a subject crucial to the understanding of modernization in twentieth-century Korea. Born in rural Korea, these workers confronted both the colonial experience and the modern workplace as they interacted with Japanese managers and workers. In post-colonial Korea, they formed the nucleus of the workforce, both blue and white collar, that has transformed Korea. They are often portrayed as passive victims, but in reality they were active players who formed their own identities as skilled workers.
