Book Description
Turkey has recently come to the attention to global strategic planners. This report puts these executives on the fast track. Ten chapters provide: an overview of how to strategically access this important market, a discussion on economic fundamentals, marketing & distribution options, export and direct investment options, and full risk assessments (political, cultural, legal, human resources). Ample statistical benchmarks and comparative graphs are given.
Book Description
To remain current there is not a line or middle manager in government or private enterprise who can afford not to have read this book. The work provides a comprehensive list of 'Red Flags' or warning signs of possible fraud presence in an organization with the Red Flag module containing in excess of 70 red flags and 400 investigation protocols to detect and investigate corporate fraud or ethics abuse.

Please go back to school.......2005-05-18
Please go back to school and learn to read.
This book is writen so that the most basic and reasonably uneducated human beings can understand it as well.
I am flabergasted by your patetic comment and review.
Where did you go to school..??
In the bush.?
A very difficult read.......2005-04-12
I obtained the book from a Co-worker who attended a seminar by the Lecturer, who is also apparently the writer.
The book is supposed to be a workbook.
It is extremely difficult to read and very fragmented.
The methods set out in the book on the checklist are also very difficult to follow.
I do not recommend it as a workbook neither as a guide for Corporate Fraud management.
I recomend Corporate Fraud by John D. O'Gara,Fraud by Paul Waldman,How to Become a Professional Con Artist
by Dennis M. Marlock,
[...]
A Brilliant textbook on how to commit corporate Fraud.......2005-04-11
This book is either written to teach fraud or how to avoid being caught.
Never has anyone opened the playing field so wide for the would be blue collar criminals as Henderson.
His "Red Flags" are so clearly illustrated that any would be con will find this the best workbook ever writen.
[...]
Can anyone Read this A - grade and Poor attempt.......2005-04-10
The fraud 'red flags' are terribly outdated. The detail is vague and shocking. Henderson has failed in nailing occupational fraud . This work has given me no help apart from hours of wasted reading trying to find any assistance. I could clearly see why it took him three and a half years to complete.
He must have read hundreds of papers and case studies to compile this. [...]The case studies are related to contemporary cases and can be found all over the net. In my view the book contains NONE of the most important information I have been able to find on the subject ever. Perhaps he should revert to what he knows best..."Counting Beans"

A seminar for the E-ntrepreneur.......2001-06-15
Here, at last, is a concise introduction to the world of e-commerce for the semi-savvy professional. Terminology, strategic planning, branding, advertising, traffic generation, and, oh yes, technology... every topic budding e-ntrepreneurs need to consider before risking their futures is here presented with clarity and grace. One caveat: those looking for strictly the technical or strictly the business side of e-commerce will find this book lacking. To explain the whole, the author had little choice but to abbreviate some of the parts.
Like most titles published by Microsoft Press, this book has a decidedly pro-Redmond feel, with frequent references to bCentral, FrontPage, and other MS products and services (most notably in the section on server platforms... the author would have you believe your only choices are 2000 or NT). However, these product placements do not diminish the flow of the chapters or the value of the advice.
Alas, no one book can turn you into a dot-com success story overnight (unless Jeff Bezos' diary is for sale). But this one should certainly help.
Real, practical advice........2001-04-24
This book isn't about just creating a website--it's about running a business! With the help of this book, I was able to come up with a plan for expanding my business into e-commerce. The book is very readable, and full of sensible advice. Each chapter moves you closer to making your idea a reality. It starts with getting real about what's going to work and steps you right through everything you need to know, all the way through building your site in the most economical way and right up to marketing it. My hat's off to this author for writing a book that's a good read and good advice, too.
An excellent basic primer for e-commerce entrepreneurs........2000-06-04
Here's another primer linking small business efforts to e-commerce basics; from building a site and understanding database and transaction processing systems to understanding how to best hire a Web developer. Tips range from marketing a site effectively to making it easy for customers to use, making for an excellent coverage.
A Must Have!.......2000-03-13
Great advice for anyone who wants to do business online. Well-written by a real expert. You won't find better guidance anywhere.

Customer Reviews:
Good info.......2007-05-29
Excellent and informative book. A couple of items I questioned, but overall well worth the purchase! Good for beginners AND advanced users (like me 10+ years selling on the web).
Maybe good for beginners.......2007-05-07
I was disappointed in this book. As the previous reviewer indicated, you were led to believe that the book was based on the experience of internet experts, but that was obviously not the case. I would hesitate to even offer this book to someone new to internet business.
Good for beginners.......2007-04-02
This book is written in 'coaching-style' which is not for everyone! 'Remember you have to'...'What do you think is'...'It is all about'...Don't forget to..., those phrases made it for me hard to read, as I expected new information and not to be taught constantly. I expected the authors were internet-insiders, what the title suggested - but I can't see that. If you are familiar with the basics of internet marketing look for something else, if you are a total newcomer go for this easy to read book.
Thank you for making the online maze understandable!!!.......2007-01-12
I've learned quite a bit and it is truly an ESSENTIAL book for website owners. This is not a "techie" type manual and the authors make it easy to understand the inner workings of the website/blogging game. It's not so scary and overwhelming afterall! Thanks!

From the supplier: An 80,000-circulation newspaper can only survive in the highly competitive market if its editorial staff know how to manage time and budget. For a daily that does not depend on endorsements of political candidates, keeping a competitive edge is difficult. Some decisions must be made without consulting any committee. Moreover, editors may find themselves doing more than their fair share of the responsibilities. In essence, adaptability and the ability to set priorities are prerequisites of effective time and financial management.

Customer Reviews:
Very Good.......2007-10-14
This Book has helped me to save a lot of money and learn to be smarter with my time and money Great Book I Highly Recommend it.
living well on practically nothing .......2007-06-12
this book was terrible
i am embarrassed to even have it in my house
There's no reason to pay for common sense.......2007-05-06
If you are interested in learning about frugal living, start by passing up this book. While Romney's effort has some interesting sections, the material is a little dated. Besides, it just seems anyone with a dollup of common sense could do just as well on their own.
impractical.......2006-07-16
get this book from the library, it's not worth the money. the author has some good points, especially about not being mentally sucked in to a materialistic lifestyle, and especially where he says you can be poor but proud, and that you don't have to give up your self-respect due to lack of money. i liked his points on maintaining a spiritual outlook and keeping one's family together in hard times. however his suggestions are not always practical. he advocates putting saccharine tablets in your drinks, apparently unaware of the health risks of artificial sweetener. i don't think too many people are going to mix together molasses and vinegar and drink it, or resole their shoes with tires, or wear the old stiff blue jeans from yesteryear or bib overalls. he says to drink kool-aid, which is nothing but sugar and chemicals, not very healthful. and his recipes for food seem to involve a lot of fat and hamburger meat, along with three day old bananas. he does make some good points such as eating oatmeal instead of pricey boxed cereals, and about the per pound cost of foods poor people buy being outrageous. i'm not going to glue my car engine together with epoxy or get a lathe and make my own parts like they do on nuclear submarines, and as much as i would like to go live in the woods, i needed some practical advice for saving money now when i don't have the skills to drop out of society yet. you won't find much of that here, also his insistence that walmart shoes are just as good as good quality shoes? i'm not advocating that you spend a ton of money on shoes, but you get what you pay for and it's better to have one good pair of shoes than a few cheap pairs. my parents wore cheap shoes all their lives, and i can tell you it ends up costing money later on in life when you have bunions, athlete's foot, fallen arches, and diabetic neuropathy. my mother had to have orthotics made, my father has to see a foot doctor regularly, and they both ended up with back and ankle problems. there is such a thing as being penny wise and pound foolish and failure to wear decent shoes has cost thousands of dollars in medical bills later on.
A book that's like a toolbox filled with money-saving resources and techniques!!.......2006-07-12
+++++
"If you have lost your job or expect to, or had to take a much lower-paying job, or if you have ever wondered how you would survive if you were [without much money then] this book is for you. It is based upon the experiences of real people known to the author--and do very well at it. Teachers, preachers, retired members of the military, people on small inheritances, country people, old people who survived the Great Depression, farmers, writers, artists--all have contributed their know-how on economical living...the author comes from a whole family of [money-concious] New Englanders whose unique...lifestyle is detailed in this book. He remembers the 1930's Depression as a small boy. In later years his father never let him forget it...he has learned to [watch his money] with the best of them--and enjoy doing it. He has used [many of] the methods described in this book and been successful enough so that he is no longer [without money]...This book will help you if you have been fired, demoted, retired, divorced, widowed, bankrupted, or swindled."
The above is from the introduction to this book by Ed Romney. It pretty well sums up this book succintly. I should also mention one more thing that the author says:
"[This book] is not puffed up and padded like many [other] books. I have digested and condensed it to save paper and save your time reading it."
As a person who has thoroughly read this book, I can validate what Romney says in the above quotations. What he does not mention is that this book is, above all, practical.
Readers of this book might get the impression that they have to do everything that Romney suggests. NO. This book is for a wide spectrum of people even for people in extreme circumstances. The idea is to pick and choose. Even Romney admits that he hasn't done everything he suggests but mentions them only because he knows other people who have done them.
There is no index included with this book. Why? Because it doesn't need one. The chapter titles cut straight to the point of each chapter. My favorite chapters have the following titles:
(1) Save money on food
(2) Save on clothing
(3) Save on shelter
(4) Save on transportation
(5) Save on education, entertainment, and vacations
(6) Save on health and medical care
(7) Save up to $37,500 a year and live on $12,000 a year.
Each chapter is divided into sub-sections with a sub-title. This makes the book very easy to read. Here are some of the sub-titles for the first chapter:
(1) How to stay out of debt
(2) Credit cards are addictive
(3) Make things last
(4) There is no real status in spending
(5) Fighting consumer mentality
(6) The anti-spendthrift checklist
(7) Why do people work so hard for nothing?
(8) Don't be one of the apparently wealthy.
There are other good books on this same subject that I recommend:
(1) Your Money or Your Life (by Dominguez and Robin)
(2) How to Survive Without a Salary (by C. Long)
(3) The Joy of Not Working (by E. Zelinski)
I also recommend any movie version of "Death of a Salesman."
Finally, I found that some sections of this book had the author's opinions on various matters (such as on politics and education) that may offend some readers. (Personally I was not offended.) I felt the author could have made his point without these opinions.
In conclusion, this is a book for people who need to live on a lot less money. If this describes you, then you must read this book!!
(first published 1992; revised edition published 2001; introduction; 17 chapters; conclusion; main narrative 190 pages)

Book Description
"One day your sluggish company will taken to the sound of a beating drum and the sight of a competitor approaching at ramming speed. On deck will be a jut-jawed Barbarian....He will hardly blink as his target is ripped asunder, sending Aristocrats, Bureaucrats and their unfortunate shipmates to their corporate death....So goes Mr. Miller's tale, from which we can all profit." The Wall Street Journal
Barbarians to Bureaucrats presents a brilliant new solution to a stubborn old business problem: how to halt a company's descent into wasteful, stifling bureaucracy. Lawrence M. Miller, a management consultant for such corporate giants as Xerox and 3M, argues that corporations, like civilizations, have a natural life cycle, and that by identifying the stage your company is in, and the leaders associated with it, you can avert decline and continue to thrive.
Every company begins with the compelling new vision of a Prophet and the aggressive leadership of an iron-willed Barbarian, who implements the Prophet's ideas. New techniques and expansions are pushed through by the Builder and the Explorer, but the growth spawned by these managers can easily stagnate when the Administrator sacrifices innovation to order, and the Bureaucrat imposes tight control. And just as in civilizations, the rule of the Aristocrat, out of touch with those who do the real work, invites rebellion -- from employees, customers, and stockholders. It will take the Synergist, a business leader who balances creativity with order, to restore vitality and insure future growth.
Executives from major corporations have already put the powerful insights of Barbarians to Bureaucrats into practice to regenerate their own companies. Now you can use this brilliant, lucid, and dazzlingly original book to put your company -- and your career -- back on track.

Barbarians to Bureaucrats Corporate Life Cycle Strategies.......2001-08-22
Excellent book. With so many "here's what's wrong with your company" books available, this is one of the best. Not only does the author suggest what's wrong...i.e., which part of the life cycle is your company in, he tells you how to do something about it.
If I'd only been able to read just one book, I am glad I choose this one.
Making sense of corporate growth.......2001-07-25
It's not necessarily that as a company grows from the garage into the boardroom that bad things happen . . . it's that some things are inevitable and are a function of growth.
This book sumarizes the multiple facets involved in such growth and allows the reader to compare the growth cycle of companies at varying stages. It's impact on people, org behavior, culture, awareness and other areas that the "garage shop" does not need to consider at early stages. It's a key read and assessment as companies find themselves in transition from a heavily entrepreneurial spirit to a more entrenched corporate being and notes many of the patterns such growth requires. Read between the lines and you may find companies who are currently faltering because of a lack of transition mindset to allow them to sustain managed growth or the new "size." Overall, it's a great academic read.
Help in understanding declining organizations.......2000-12-10
By comparing the lifecycles of corporations to those of civilizations, this book helps to explain how all sorts of organizations, not just corporations, can become "sick" through bureaucracy and poor leadership. This book helped me to understand why there is so much institutional opposition to correcting even localized corruption and dissolution in a large, bureaucratic GOVERNMENT institution. It helped save my sanity. I with the author would write a similar book dealing with governmental organizations.
Another book which may help if you are trying to "fight city hall" is Stanley Milgram's Obedience to Authority.
From Start Ups to Behemoths.......2000-10-23
An interesting book about the different life cycles a company goes through as it grows, matures and declines. This book may help you understand that giant corporation you are trying to partner with while trying to avoid being squished by them.
