5 out of 5 stars Succint explaination of a complicated topic.......2002-02-15

This book is well written in very understandable terms. It helped me tremendously. Thanks to the authors!

5 out of 5 stars Offers great insight into high blood pressure.......1998-11-27

After reading this books I am now confident about what my condition is and how to control it. I believe that in a few months, I'll be able to lower my blood pressure without drugs. Thanks to this well-written and concise book I quickly gained knowledge about the condition and now motivated to do somthing about it

5 out of 5 stars Comprerhensive, gives you full scope of high blood pressure.......1998-02-24

This book gives the reader a comprehensive review of the subject it set out to discuss. It calms your fears about what the disease can do to you. Knowledge is power. CONQUER HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE definitely impart the knowledge to control your blood pressure with and without medication. It relates that most of us can control our pressure by watching what we eat, exerciseing and managing stress. These steps are heart-healthy, anyway. Everyone should preactice them.

1 out of 5 stars Insults the Publics Intelligence.......1997-10-08

This book is outdated, not worth buying. I sent it back, when I realized that this book is based on old medical beliefs. It professes to be a book about "prevention" and instead it is all about Drugs, medicine. There is no "prevention" here. I believe there is only 1-2 lines about diet. I think two guys, who happen to be MD's thought they could write a book to promote the Medical Treatment Model of High Blood Pressure. Get real! Like the cover, this book, and its paradigm of treatment, are in the 1950's, very outdated. Don't waste your time ordering this book, as I did.. or you will have to pay the cost to ship it back! Book Description

Most consultants waste their energy chasing new business instead of building a market profile, which would encourage new business to come to them.

This book will teach consultants to solve that most pressing of problems: how to bring in new business through sound marketing and PR strategies. Expert advice in an approachable, punchy format from experienced consultant Robert Gentle covers every conceivable issue including getting listed in national directories, establishing a media presence, lecturing, writing books and research reports, issuing a newsletter and advertising. Full of tried-and-tested ideas and techniques, this is essential reading for any consultant, whether aspiring or established.

4 out of 5 stars Easy to read guide book for would-be consultants.......2007-07-11

This book aims to help would-be consultants build a market profile that attracts notice and ensures continued success. In fact this is an easy to read guide book for would-be consultants.

Robert Gentle offers hints about getting into the media (without spending a fortune), writing research documents, newsletters, hitting the lecture circuit, producing effective advertising and trade exhibitions-all tools and methods for improving the profile of the consultant. The book is nicely written and makes you laugh with lovely humour.

Though this book covers many topics, it lacks depth especially if I compare it to another book for would-be-consultants that I bought - "The Successful Consultant" by Susan Nash, which goes much deeper and gives more though it is much tougher on the reader.

As a consultant, I found this book useful.

            Book Description

Anglund points out that the American national government is in the business of promoting small business. Government agencies help entrepreneurs develop small businesses through a wide range of programs providing financial assistance such as loans, government contract assistance including set-asides, and management and technical support. Unlike government programs for farmers and big businesses, which are usually invisible to the citizenry, small business aid programs are extremely and intentionally visible. Congress declared the policy of aiding small business and launched the contemporary era of small business assistance programs in the Small Business Act of 1953. In this study, Anglund traces the heritage of the Small Business Act, probes influences on small business and enactments of the 1953-1997 period, and show how American core values, those often referred to as the American Creed, contributed to shaping small business policy and to the support it received. Scholars, students, and researchers involved with public policy, political culture, business politics and history, and economic development will find this study of particular interest.
