    Book Description

Cut the CRAP and Make the Sale is the "first and only sales handbook to marry a proven psychological methodology to overcome your problems (CRAP) with professional selling techniques." By first understanding the internal selling deterrents, you are better prepared for sales success.

Catastophizing happens when a sales rep imagines the worst will become real. Understanding the Selling and Buyer Processes, the mystery of worst case scenario will disappear. Rationalizing is a hurdle that allows sales people to "logically" make sense of why they are not doing what they should. The book arms people with successful prospecting techniques that defeat rationalizing. Agonizing can cause complete inertia as one weighs decisions. Overcoming agonizing means overcoming fear. Agonizing is destroyed when you are armed with the selling tools used by successful sales pros. Finally, Procrastinating leads to mismanagement of your most valuable resource: your time. Sales can be lost in a matter of minutes. While you are pursuing "bad" business, your competitors are signing contracts.

      Book Description

The latest volumes in The Collected Works of F. A. Hayek concentrate on Hayek's work on money and monetary policy. In anticipation of the centenary of his birth, these volumes bring forth some of the economist's most distinguished articles on monetary policy and offer another vital addition to the collection of Hayek's life work.

Good Money, Part I: The New World includes seven of Hayek's articles from the 1920s that were written largely in reaction to the work of Irving Fisher and W. C. Mitchell. Hayek encountered Fisher's work on the quantity theory of money and Mitchell's studies on business cycles during a U.S. visit in 1923-24. These articles attack the idea that price stabilization was consistent with the stabilization of foreign exchange and foreshadow Hayek's general critique that the whole of an economy is not simply the sum of its parts.

Good Money, Part II: The Standard offers five more of Hayek's articles that advance his ideas about money. In these essays, Hayek investigates the consequences of the "predicament of composition." This principle works on the premise that the entire society cannot simultaneously increase liquidity by selling property or services for cash. This analysis led Hayek to make what was perhaps his most controversial proposal: that governments should be denied a monopoly on the coining of money.

Taken together, these volumes present a comprehensive chronicle of Hayek's writings on monetary policy and offer readers an invaluable reference to some of his most profound thoughts about money.

      Customer Reviews:

      5 out of 5 stars Still Cool.......2006-09-23

This is a great book. It's making my life a lot easier. It presents sound methodology if you are going to develop and build a commercial Web site. I am using it in school right now. It really defines terms in such a way that they are not just words that you toss around. By defining, describing and giving examples the terms become second nature and you actually understand in a logical fashion the integrated elements of designing and maintaining a commercial Web site.

1 out of 5 stars Boring, not up to date, and impossible to pick up..........2005-11-25

The Web Design department of the career college I am an instructor and program coordinator at have used this text for several years now as the primary text for a web project management class. The problem with this book is that it sets the bar too high from the beginning and only applies if one finds themseleves a project manager handling huge corporate website accounts. It is impossible to scale the tone of the book down to explain the process when dealing with individuals and small businesses when the book has you only "wearing one hat" when sometimes you have to wear them all. It's also terribly boring to read, which makes it impossible to gain any understanding from it.This is an old book, in great need of an update. There are much more current and interesting books out there now that handle the same topic, and do it well. This may have been the first book of its kind, but it's certainly not the greatest.

2 out of 5 stars REALLY short on specifics.......2005-11-18

Talks WAY too much in generalities and jargon, with almost no specifics. The website for the book says they can't give more specifics about, for example, project specification documents, because of confidentiality. That's a really lame excuse for not coming up with a sample, detailed project spec.

      5 out of 5 stars A Web Developer Manager's Do All Book.......2005-01-08

      Three points:

      1. Anyone that buys this book with the understanding that they will learn how to project manage should not be in Project Management. One of the best is "The Portable MBA in Project Management" by Eric Verzuh.

      2. I can't really add more to the many reviews below giving high ratings to this book. However, I will suggest this. Even if after reading the reviews listed below, you still find yourself not sure if this book is worth it, then "look inside the book" and the table of contents. If that doesn't sell you, then I think you're in the wrong industry.

      3. This book is a must have for any project manager of commercial web development who wants to survive in a most competitive industry.

5 out of 5 stars Still a solid methodology for Web Project Management.......2004-02-14

It has been about four years since this book's last edition came out, and it continues to top the list of Web Project Management references, and with reason for it. Its proven methodology provides a solid framework that you can relate to once and again, with confidence and permanently reminding of potential pitfalls and obstacles. In short, Friedlein's book provides the closest thing to a recipe for success with managing web projects: of course, you can always put in a little too much salt yourself, can't you? ;)

          4 out of 5 stars Excellent Basics.......2000-05-04

I bought this book for my son 12 year old to compose a career report and so he could understand this area of interest. The writing is clear and simple. Sections of the book need more development and updating. That aside the book provided a clear picture of what is required to start a career and what is possible. If you know little about the industry this is a great place to start. The material is basic but the book does contain good references for follow up and more detailed reading.

5 out of 5 stars This book is FULL of useful information. A must have........1999-03-02

Judy's upfront approach and honest opinion gives her readers an advantage not given by others. Not only does she instruct you on how to become successful in your aviation career, she also helps you to avoid the MANY pitfalls made by other aspiring pilots before you. Also included were valuable references to related services, publications, and other tools used in the airline industry. If you only buy one book about a career in aviation, let it be this one!

5 out of 5 stars Prospective pilots, IT'S ALL HERE!!!.......1998-10-06

I am considering a career in aviation, and Ms. Tarver's book was the perfect place to start. She's realistic, practical and encouraging at the same time. No one should consider a career in aviation before reading this book through at least two times. Thanks for the help, Ms. Tarver.

When Judy Tarver speaks, at least when she speaks about airline pilot careers, the aspiring professional pilot should listen. This "seminar-to-go" book is chock-full of useful information on preparing for a professional pilot career. Judy covers education, building flight time, extracurricular activities, selecting flying jobs, and the importance of record keeping.
