Book Description
Foreign exchange intervention is frequently being used by central banks in countries which have a floating exchange rate. Most theoretical monetary policy models, however, do not take this phenomenon into account. This book contributes to close this gap between theory and practice by interpreting foreign exchange intervention as an additional monetary policy instrument for inflation targeting central banks. In-depth empirical analyses of the foreign exchange operations and interest rate policy of five inflation targeting countries (Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Sweden and the United Kingdom) demonstrate how foreign exchange intervention is used in practice.

Book Description
The exchange rate is a crucial variable linking a nation's domestic economy to the international market. Thus choice of an exchange rate regime is a central component in the economic policy of developing countries and a key factor affecting economic growth.
Historically, most developing nations have employed strict exchange rate controls and heavy protection of domestic industry-policies now thought to be at odds with sustainable and desirable rates of economic growth. By contrast, many East Asian nations maintained exchange rate regimes designed to achieve an attractive climate for exports and an "outer-oriented" development strategy. The result has been rapid and consistent economic growth over the past few decades.
Changes in Exchange Rates in Rapidly Developing Countries explores the impact of such diverse exchange control regimes in both historical and regional contexts, focusing particular attention on East Asia. This comprehensive, carefully researched volume will surely become a standard reference for scholars and policymakers.

Great Book.......2007-03-18
Very complete book, just What I need, the delivery was very fast. Thank you!!
So many mistakes.......2005-10-24
If you want a general introduction to J2EE, this book is ok, I suppose. Definitely not for Advanced users, as it claims. The high amount of authers shows through with inconsistant writing and often hard to understand sections. It also appears the authors didn't do much more then rewrite the Sun J2EE documentation - which is free to download.
In addition, the sheer amount of errors in both the examples and in just general formatting of the text would make me embarassed to have my name attached to it if I were one of the many authors. Things like using wrong filenames, wrong file extensions, mislabelled listings, uncompilable code, using the last line of a code example listing as the heading for the following paragrap (so the following paragraph has a heading like "", pre-production comments left in the final text, ... this is all in the first 200 pages! Definitely not a student-friendly book for someone attempting to learn the material by doing the examples.
You'll get the general idea and layout of J2EE, same as the Sun documentation, and not much else from this book.
Lacking in detail to an extreme.......2005-02-22
I've gotten as far as chapter 7 and there is next to no usable information. In less than 40 pages it attempts to cover servlets, filters, and event listeners. I regret spending the money on this book.
Waste.......2004-09-02
I read every page of this book. It was a complete waste of my time and money. I'm asking for a refund. There was no detail that helped me. While I'm not a new testament kind of guy, I expected more from a "Bible".
Didn't meet expectations.......2004-08-10
Isn't this book supposed to be advanced reading level? It reads like a child's book with words like "screw" and "buzzword-friendly." Plus, there's so much info to cover in J2EE that it only explains the minimum needed to get started. If you plan on reading this book, don't expect to gain substantial knowledge from it. This book is only good for one thing: to establish an introduction. The real deal is to read the specifications which are advanced reading level and written by technical writers appointed by Sun Microsystems.
Book Description
This is inspirational story-telling which explains the practical, crucial elements of business success, based on the experiences of hundreds of small business owners.
The entire first chapter is included for your reading pleasure. Enjoy.
Customer Reviews:
A delightful read.......2006-12-30
What a surprisingly insightful read! This book gives an all rounded view of our vocation, our design & our purpose. Not many are engaged in full time ministry & it's certainly comforting & encouraging to know that even for those of us who don't, God has not forgotten us! God cares about our "secular" work too. Bring God to your workplace and find new meaning to your work & ministry.
It is a ministry finder, not a career finder........2005-11-04
Just based on the title there could be some confusion. This is infact a tool for finding a ministry. Be that as it may, it's a tool more designed for Theology students to pick just which part of the field they're looking to go into. Granted most in ministries who will use this book will be looking for paid positions it doesn't make this book a general career finder.
Going by just the title you'd think this could be a book to help anyone find their career in anything. It's not. It's more specific then that. But hey, that's why us avid book readers read the books description, right!?
All in all it's a fairly helpful book if you need clarification on the path of ministry you are choosing. However, if you're trying to decide between computer science and teaching, well, a better book would be 'What Color is your Parachute'.
Not What I Needed!.......2003-01-08
I ordered this book thinking it would help me to clarify job decisions and what I found instead was an irritatingly religious, moralizing, Christian work on finding your "mission"/ job. That is fine if that is what you are looking for; otherwise stay far away.
Deceptive Description.......2003-01-08
It was an unpleasant surprise for me to open this book and find an irritatingly religious, moralizing, Christian guide to clarifying one's mission/best job fit. If that is what you're looking for, fine. Otherwise, I would stay away . . .far away.
Finding a Job You Can Love.......2000-03-03
This book had a profound impact on my professional and personal life. It helped me to identify those inherent gifts (talents) which I possess and gave me specific insights into how best to apply them. In fact, after reading the book, I contacted Rallph Mattson and went through his Motif process (based upon the book). From this report they prepared a "best use" analysis which I regularly share with my management in discussions of next assignments and promotions. It has helped me and them to jointly make career decisions that benefit me and the company. The book's philosophical basis is supported by a new book (1999) by Gallup "First Break all the Rules". After interviewing 40,000 people in 800 companies, they found that the one thing that most negatively impacts an organization's ability to reach its full potential is its inability to tap into and utilize the unique, inherent talents of each person in the organization. The one thing Gallup does not offer is a means of identifying those talents and putting them to use. Ralph Mattson (who published his book well in advance of Gallup's) has a proven, effective means of doing that. I strongly urge anyone who is or has ever wondered if there was something else that would make them feel fulfilled or give them a sense of peace and contentment, to read this book.

Customer Reviews:
It may be short, but it's sweet!.......2002-02-23
Other reviewers of this book here at Amazon seem to feel that the author is skimping on the details, and that he uses the laws we have to live with as filler. I disagree. Personally, I don't have time to read a lengthy discourse on how to get out of debt, repair my credit, or work towards being financially stable. This book contains more than enough valuable information to get anyone with credit woes on the road to recovery. When I bought this book just over a month ago, I had 11 negative marks on one of my credit reports. After taking the sample letters in this great book and modifying them to meet my needs, I have changed 9 of these marks to positive, and am negotiating on the last 2. I found this book to be an invaluable tool, as a novice to the way debt works.
Reviewed by professional credit consultant.......2002-01-11
This book may be helpful for someone who needs some basic knowledge about credit repair and debt issues. However, Mr Hammond merely added very little updated information and creates another edition to be sold in the market place. More than half of the book consists of credit regulations, and out of date phone numbers for many governmental organizations and creditors alike. It is obvious he does not put in much additional effort in creating new additions. Also, some of his techniques may not work for everyone. If he spends any time practicing in this field (which I feel he have not) he would have written more practical credit repair techniques which may prove beneficial to consumers out there.
Highly Recommended!.......2001-11-21
Bob Hammond discusses how to reduce debts, repair credit and deal with creditors and collection agencies. He includes tips on negotiating debts downward and sample letters to creditors. The detailed appendix includes the U.S. Fair Credit Reporting Act, Equal Credit Opportunity Act and Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. This book is primarily targeted to small business owners, employees and the unemployed or underemployed who are having debt problems. We [...] appreciate the basic, "do this," tone of voice and the practical approach to helping someone climb out of debt. (While some of these strategies might be useful anywhere, only U.S. law is discussed.)
Could have been a pamphlet.......2000-05-28
The information that you need to start repairing your credit is in here and so is some stuff about reducing debt. The book covers how to order your report, dispute it and follow up with the Credit agencies. It has sample letters that you can use with your own information. It has techniques on working with creditors to have them remove negative information from your report for you.
Overall, I don't feel ripped off, but I am a bit disappointed. There could have been much more detail in the areas of Keeping your credit report from being damaged, building good credit, and strategies for saving money and reducing debts (which are the cause of bad credit in the first place). This type of book would be much more useful in the form of a workbook rather than the front to middle reading it is.
The book gives you what it promises, but not in the best form and with a ton of filler. The second half of the book is just a reprint of Credit Laws which could come in handy if I was working with a lawyer or could understand it myself, but otherwise is just there to add pages.
Judging by the number of books that Bob Hammond has written on the subject, I would say that he is just revamping old work, adding a lot of filler text and calling it a new book.
The information in this book is so rudimentary should be free. But I give it 3 stars because it has helped me get the ball rolling with my credit.
Essential reading for anyone trying to make ends meet........2000-04-07
Now in a fully updated third edition, Bob Hammond's Life After Debt continues to be the most practical, reader friendly, single volume guide to personal money management and emancipation from crippling debt available to the reading public. Hammond tackles the problems of how debt is caused and solving credit problems -- permanently. Readers will learn how to increase their cash flow, reestablish a sound credit rating in less than 30 days, stop collection agency harassment, raise their credit limit, create an "instant" credit history dating back ten years. Life After Debt is enhanced with addresses and phone numbers of consumer credit services, state banking authorities, and other financial stability resources. Life After Debt is essential reading for anyone struggling to make ends meet.
