Several leading scholars summarize their research and main contributions in their specialties, e.g., Duffie, Campbell, Singleton, etc.... The chapters are useful for those who already know quite a lot. They are not suitable for a learner.
It is way too over-priced for such a book. As a graduate student, I had to watch my food expenses in order to buy this book. I wish those extremely wealthy authors and the publisher could be less greedy, be more into promoting the scientifc research in financial economics rather than trying to grasp every penny from my pocket.
I don't think this is a book for graduate students (too expensive), however, for professors, it might be worth it.

Bollinger Bands have been a popular method of technical analysis for several years, however there has never been any comprehensive reference on the subject available. The discussion and treatment of Bollinger Bands has been either "shortchange" or omitted in recent books, which offer guidance in the interpretation and usage of technical stuties and indicators, such as Elder's "Trading For a Living" (only 2 pages) and Pring's "On Market Momentum" (omitted). Bollinger Bands are included in many different software packabes, but the manuals give little in-depth guidance on usage and interpretation.
The author worked closely with John Bollinger to be able to help the reader increase his knowledge of Bollinger Bands, and their effective and proper usage.

John Bollinger has asked the publisher to remove this booklet from distribution. It was published in 1994 and is outdated and useless. When John did the research for his 2001 book "Bollinger on Bollinger Bands" (available at Amazon) he developed new guidelines for using his Bands that make this 28 page booklet obsolete. If you are interested in Bollinger Bands read John Bollinger's 288 page book. It is a thorough and comprehensive explanation of Bollinger Bands. It includes three trading approaches based on Bollinger Bands and which indicators to use with the bands for confirmation.Bollinger on Bollinger Bands

John B is an affable, well-intentioned individual but to pass this work off as something original or valuable is just not right. I am a part-time trader but voracious reader. When my real estate business slows down which is not as frequent as in the past, I try to read as much as possible about mathematics and markets. Many years ago I developed ideas that were precursors to John's writings. I too initially believed them to be valuable but when I tried to apply them to the markets I failed miserably. Save yourself some money and avoid these losing methods. Yes, I know as I am a highly respected market technician and I have seen just about everything written on this topic in the marketplace. My mathematics and real estate backgrounds have given me a perspective that these market hucksters lack. I am not perfect but I do know that my contributions to the investment industry is much greater than most of the highly visible promoters. Besides me, there are a few people who have done ground-breaking work, such as Kent Caloun. Bruce Bibcock, and Chuck Lindsay. These guys know math and I like their work. You may perceive my notion of being an expert as egotistical but I consider it to be well grounded in my knowledge and experience.

I began as a beginner in writing papers, and conducting interviews. Then, I picked up Dr. Leifman's guide and it explained clearly and interestingly every aspect of the interview. Far from being a boring overview of the subject, Leifman's guide is clearly five-star meterial. I read this book, and afterwards was able to perform the well-explained tasks with ease and finesse. Dr. Leifman is a knowlegable expert on the subject. I particularly enjoyed his description of the resume, and I beleive firmly that, having read his guide, my resume is as good as it possibly could be. Thanks to his impeccable intelligence and sharp wit, I consider myself to be an expert on the covered meterial. I recomend it to everyone who who would ever like to write a resume, cover letter, or interview with style, and, most importantly, success. Thank you, Dr. Leifman!

Vault Reports strength is the targeted and highly specified nature of their reports. Industry and even company specific information is what makes them what they are. This book is just the opposite: vague, broad, full of obvious advice and therefore useless.
It attempts to cover resume writing, cover letters and all types of interviews in one book. Impossible. Save your money, buy seperate books on the three areas and Vault Reports on companies and industries that interest you.

Asset allocation largely determines a portfolio's likely rate of return and level of risk. In Outperforming the Market, money manager John Merrill investigates the long-term historical performance of various asset classes to help individual investors discover the best ways to divvy up their money for market-beating returns with below-average risk.

John Merril sets up three portfolios,each holding stocks bonds and cash.He takes the reader thru every bull and bear market from 1926 thru 1997. Many authors of investment books avoid the investment history of the 1930s and other prolonged bear markets but Merril wants the reader to realize the risk and the reward that comes whith investing.I would urge anyone who has a 401k plan or Ira to purchase this book. Mr.Merril may have some different views then others when it comes to indexing and foreign investing but explains his views honestly.This is a great book and I don`t know why since it`s published over a year ago that no one has reviewed it.This is a book that should be updated every year.
