This book relates the literatures of finance, industrial economics and investment to the theoretical framework of the "credit view." First, banks' decisions concerning their assets are seen as at least as relevant as their decisions concerning their liabilities. Second, securities and bank credit are highly imperfect substitutes. The interactions between real and financial sectors are analyzed from the point of view of the industrial firm, in a model where the investment and financial decisions of the firm are taken simultaneously.

Great book - Just past its prime........2005-10-19

I hope Mr. Evjen will put out an updated version of this book when WSE 3.0 hits the scene. Being new to web services I grabbed a used copy to get into WSE. I found this to be a well written book with great examples in both C# and VB (about time!). However, those great examples are using WSE 1 so you will find code that is obsolete. An updated edition with the same plain language explanations and examples would be 5 stars, so keep your eyes open.

Wow!!!!! A Superb reference.......2003-11-10

This book is really an incredible reference for WSE!!! Not only does it cover all of the areas of the WSE, it is written in a manner that is very easy to read and contains a wealth of really well-written demos (both in C# and VB) that demonstrate each feature of the WSE. If you would like to learn about WSE, this book is an absolute must have. I would have rated it 6 stars if I could.

Great book for .NET Developers.......2003-10-12

If you are developing web services, and are concerned about security issues, this is the book. With lots of working examples, and clear explainations, you will gain knowledge about how to implement security in your Web services.
I highly recommend the book.

This is a must have book for any Microsoft developers or architects doing work in the web services space. This book is by far the best reference for using the WSE. After reading the book I couldn't wait to start using everything I learned.

I bought this guide for my little brother, but after taking a look at it myself, felt prompted to recommend it to others. It was filled with great information, from two very good authorities--an MBA professor and a career counselor. I wish I had found a guide like this when I was still in school! The career planning advice is indispensible and the scripts for cold-calling and networking have proved to be really effective for my brother. It's harder than ever for new graduates to get good jobs after school and internships are becoming important tools for taking definitive steps towards a real career, rather than just another job. I strongly encourage all students to take a look at this guide!

A Great Step-by-step Guide.......2003-02-20

Everyone will tell you how important it is to get an internship to jumpstart your career, but most resources give little more than a few general tips that could be applied to any job searching situation. Especially if you have a specific career in mind, finding the right internship, not just any internship, is crucial. This guide told me everything I needed to know about how to find or create the internship that most suited my future career goals, and how to turn that internship into a full-time job offer. It was all laid out in a step-by-step manual style, that broke down this seemingly formidable task into manageable chunks. I really appreciated the cold-calling tips and script suggestions, as cold-calling has always been a particular weakness of mine. I recommend this to all my fellow students who might be spinning their wheels trying to find the right internship.

Getting my own internship.......2003-02-20

This guide has things like sample cold-calling scripts and questions to ask to break into a company you'd like to intern for. Exactly the stuff I need now that I'm looking at making a career change, and internships look to be the best route towards making that change. I like that this guide lays out a bunch of different options that are less formal than the internships set up at big companies. Of course, I'll still try for those formal programs, but I'm also going to give the informal route a go and see how that pans out.

Great Message under a Provactive Title.......2007-05-25

Money breeds every imaginable emotion within a marriage, from control to liberation, and this book uncovers it all. What is does best is educate women, married or single, how to save money to ensure independence at any age.

The book's title encouraged me to learn what was beneath the front cover, and I wasn't disappointed. Each story, told by women in a myriad of good and abusive relationships, provided timeless lessons on money management.

You learn about the power of money and how some husbands wield it for complete control. Most of all, you learn smart tips on saving from women who dug themselves out of deep trenches.

There are times when you'll shake your head as you read the stories and wonder why some women stay in bad relationships. But then you realize how their troubles provide the strength that shines on every page, proving that every cloud does have a silver lining.

This book is not just for married women. It's for anyone who needs support and guidance on how to start and build your own financial support system for anything you want or need throughout your life. That's the best-kept secret.

How this book was not a best seller is a major mystery to me! It is the most informative and accessible book of its kind, empowering women to save money for a rainy day even if the sun is shining right now! I bought my own wife a copy!

What's good for the goose...........2003-06-20

I have mixed feelings about this book.

It makes some good points, like finding out about all the checks your spouse may get (such as uniform allowances), but I feel that its underlying message is about deception in your marriage, by hiding money away. It promotes hiding money, instead of educating you in how to equally partner with your spouse in how you deal with money. It also deals with the issue 'way after the fact, instead of say, providing a list of "warning signs" about money that you should look before thinking about marriage.

Also, if it is "always" okay for a wife to hide money, why is it "always" wrong for the husband to do so? Fair is fair. Men aren't the only ones who are spendthrifts, or drop everything to run away with a new lover. If your spouse is a spendthrift, find an honest way to deal with the problem instead of squirrelling money away.

And this person recommends you put your name as a wife on everything except your tax returns. Huh? Always file separately? If you can't trust your spouse to do the taxes, why are you still married to him? And who says YOU can't pay to have the taxes done?

I got the feeling that this book was really written for the older (let the man handle the money) generation, not for today's woman who should know better. It also seems to be geared more towards people who live in (and get divorced in) "equitable distribution" states, not community property states, since it talks about spending money to "establish a lifestyle pattern" to figure out future support. And that's another thing, it seems to look at a nest egg as some sort of emergency escape fund, which again, seems to see marriage as something that will fail, so you better plan ahead. Huh? Why get married at all then?

I will say that if you are planning to get a divorce, this would be a good book to look at.

So you finally got published!.......2003-09-12

After all the labor of writing your book, you found that getting it published was an almost insurmountable hurdle. The big publishers wouldn't even read it! You sent out your manuscript to dozens of publishers, and just when you were about to give up, a small publisher liked it, and has published it; but they have virtually no promotion budget!

Or, perhaps you self-published, or went to a Print-on-Demand (POD) publisher where you paid a nominal amount and they designed your cover, set your type (without proofreading), listed you on Books-In-Print and with the big wholesalers like Ingram Book Group and on Amazon.com, BarnesandNoble.com and others. But, they do not market it, and no one will read it unless they buy it first. It's existence is just your little secret!

In either case, like most first time authors (and many with considerable experience) you discover that selling your book is up to you. You can expect very little help from the publisher other than listing it and, although that is important it surely will not get you on the Best Seller list no matter how great your book is.

This book was written for you. There are some very good ideas in it, and they are things that you can do. Booksignings, book reviews, special events, of course! But, this little book is full of other things that you can do to bring attention to yourself and your book: things like making your own bookmarks, and leaving them with your tip in restaurants.

I suggest that you buy this one. There are many creative ideas in it, and every sale is a buck or two in your pocket!

Worthless.......2001-09-07

This has to be the worst book I've ever read. Well, not quite true, but definately the worst book on a topic that really interests me. The author is rather good with words, but the content is very weak and I really can't use any of the recommendations, but 2-3 of them. It's an inexpensive book, but even at the current asking price, it's too much. I'm sorry that I have to say this, vecause the idea is great.

You Must Have This One.......2001-05-29

Okay, you've finally gotten your book in print. Celebrate then buy this book. It's not enough having a book out. Unless your name is Danielle Steel or Stephen King your publisher is not going to a whole lot for you. Ignore Ms. Tedder's religious beliefs if that bothers you but buy the book and study it. I have in diskette and in print. Her suggestions are inexpensive, fun and will get your book noticed.

AN EXCELLENT PRACTICAL AND AFFORDABLE GUIDE.......2001-05-12

I bought this book as a direct result of the review written by--well, the person didn't sign his/her name--but the one-star review retitling this book, BOOK PROMOTION FOR THE BRAINLESS. I wanted to see what riled him/her up so badly, so I bought the book. Okay, so I bought it for the wrong reason, but I'm keeping it for the right one. There are a LOT of good ideas in this book! In fairness, and to keep this public ledger straight, putting a reorder postcard in a book on a shelf shouldn't have anyone tossing around words like "illegal." That could damage a person's reputation. As for Ms. Tedder's religious beliefs, I believe those are also legally protected. Bottom line: someone was having a bad-hair day. It's a good book, reasonably priced, with some very smart and practical--and affordable--ideas.

Hey, I know these people!.......2001-05-12

I love this book and didn't find any errors in my copy at all. What did surprise me was that I've met many of the authors mentioned and I've seen some of their tips. These are actual tips that people have used successfully, and a lot of them, I know I can adapt to my book promotion plans too. Some are a little over the top but as the author says when she jokes about past lives, you use what you can and adapt the rest.
