Book Description
The US has been subjected to the ruthless and unrelenting tyranny of the world's most advanced capitalism, permeating every aspect of American life. The chief difference from other tyrannies is its facelessness, its dependence on impersonal coercive power more than on direct violence and terror against its subjects.
A frightening irony of this new tyranny, dissected by the distinguished historian of political thought Neal Wood, is that it is producing a degenerating society and a politics headed toward collapse. All world empires have decayed from within and eventually fallen. The new tyranny's demise may long be hidden by a sophisticated technology and international armed might.
The portents of social and political decay in the US are numerous. America is an inegalitarian class society with an ever-growing chasm separating a minuscule minority of the very rich from the poor and moderately well-off. Americans lack adequate universal medical care and their physical and mental health is declining. American society is a culture of rapidly proliferating violence, rampant consumerism, mindless entertainment, and freneticism, while its political culture, grounded in an eighteenth- century constitutionthat was never intended to create a democracyis ever more hollow and undemocratic.
Tyranny in America, written in the spirit of Tom Paine and inspired by Karl Marx, scathingly addresses the chief maladies afflicting the US and forcefully argues that fundamental change is necessary if moral, political, and social implosion is to be avoided.

Even if one is not in complete agreement with the author, this is intriguing political theory at its best.

The centerpiece of Microsoft's .NET initiative, BizTalk Server 2000 aims to solve one of the perennial bugbears of the corporate programmer. By the judicious application of XML messaging (under the Simple Object Access Protocol--SOAP), BizTalk Server allows companies to exchange business documents (price quotes, purchase orders, defect notices, and that kind of thing) with minimal human interaction. BizTalk Server 2000: Developer's Guide for .NET shows how to use BizTalk Server, bringing plenty of step-by-step procedures to bear on a product that's unfamiliar to many. Though there's not a lot of discussion of the sort of code you'd write for BizTalk Server interaction in Visual Studio .NET, this book includes coverage of writing functoids and codifying business processes in Visio.
Developers will find this book useful in getting up to speed on BizTalk Server terminology and conventions, and in rigging up laboratory systems for experimentation and trials. Consultants will appreciate the authors' advice on mapping real-world business processes to the BizTalk environment. It's administrators, however, who, despite the book's title, will benefit from it most. They'll find explicit advice on setting up BizTalk Server, connecting it with SQL Server, and adjusting its configuration. Stepped procedures make it very clear what needs to be done in various situations. --David Wall
Topics covered: How to install Microsoft BizTalk Server 2000 and make it serve as an XML message broker for an organization. Installation is covered (in situations in which the underlying SQL Server already exists, as well as in situations in which the database server is installed simultaneously), setting up channels and ports, setting up and maintaining XLANG schedules, and troubleshooting problems.
Book Description
BizTalk Server 2000 is part of the .NET family of Enterprise Servers designed to work together to provide e-business solutions. The .NET Enterprise Servers are based on open Web standards, such as XML, to allow an organization to integrate and orchestrate their applications and service needs into a single comprehensive solution. This book shows how to use BizTalk Server 2000 to create, integrate, manage, and automate business processes for the exchange of business documents.

Book Description
At last! Discover the management secrets for building a profitable practice.
To stay competitive in this current health care marketplace, the modern chiropractor must know how to use the proven business principles essential for successful practice management.
Without this knowledge, managing your practice could be a nightmare.
Customer Reviews:
Indispensable reference tool.......2007-08-11
Managing a chiropractic clinic requires solid business skills. This book helps you develop such skills quickly and effortlessly. Why waste time and money on experimenting yourself when you can instantly leverage 20 years business management and another 20 years of active chiropractic practice?
The book covers clearly and succinctly an ambitious range of topics, including cash flow management, marketing, essential clinic function, personnel management, etc. Dr. Delman did a remarkable job of exploring each topic with sufficient detail and meaningful examples.
It is an indispensable reference tool that belongs to every chiropractor's library.
A Concentrated Business Kit for Chiropractors.......2007-06-29
This book is powerful... On the contrary of many other books or seminars, it doesn't take 1 good idea and make a huge business around it, every chapter is concise, to the point, with a great generousity in the topics covered and the advice given.
Also, I recommend the website www.businessofchiropractic.com for its great additional content, also available at a reasonable price.
So whether you've been a practice for a while or you're just starting out, please take practice & management seminars, hire a coaching company and read other books, we never have too much info, but this book is a must have... more than that it's a must READ!
No Bones about it.......2006-04-20
This is the book, more than any other, that helped me set up my practice. It contains practical information about how to get new customers after opening the doors, not to mention how to advertise without being crass. If I'd bought it earlier, I would have been even more successful. Even though it says "after startup," I think reading it before startup is good.
The best advice straight from the greater trochanter.......2004-05-10
I experienced Dr. Delman's knowledge and skill in chiropractic and practice management as a patient many years before following in his footsteps. When I saw that he had written a guide book for the rest of us, I was thrilled. I own both the first and second editions. Dr. Delman explains the "how-to's" of a successful practice in a concise, understandable and enjoyable format. This is a must for any DC at any stage!
Simply Outstanding.......2004-04-19
I often shake my head in disbelief to think that many of my fellow chiropractors will shell out thousands of dollars in practice management seminars when a book such as this exists for a fraction of the cost, and in truth, is much better.
Ivan Delman has managed to take important universal truths of business success and apply it to chiropractic in a simple but powerful way. Passion, wisdom, humor, and compassion are the hallmarks of his writing style that walks you through essential steps in creating the practice of your dreams.
Just as in chiropractic we tell our patients to please try chiropractic first before doing expensive, needless surgery, I suggest that D.C.'s read this gem of a book first before attending an expensive seminar.
You won't be sorry.

Customer Reviews:
Dr. Delman has paved the way.......2001-04-17
Dr. Ivan Delman has created a piece of work that will serve his colleagues in all the health care professions well, if they follow his advice. While starting a practice is very important, more so is making it work. Dr. Delman shows us just how to do that, with plans and advice and analysis techniques that will help make professional practices grow and prosper. This book should be on the shelf in every Chiropractic office, for starters.
Dr. Delman has met a critical need.......2001-04-16
Dr. Ivan Delman has written a comprehensive guide to life after opening one's practice. In this perilous time of both ever expanding responsibility and shrinking resources for health care providers, Dr. Delman has provided a resource that could significantly improve the bottom line, while maintaining extremely high ethical standards, for any health care provider who follows his advice. I heartily recommend this book to anyone who is interested in a successful and enjoyable practice experience.
Nuts and Bolts Perfection.......2001-04-15
I have been a successful practicing chiropractor for over 30 years. It took me the first five years to understand the nuts and bolts of developing a successful practice. If I had had Dr. Delman's book, I could have cut down that to a month.
Dr. Delman has successfully covered the bulk of what I found to be true in developing my practice. This is definately a must-have for the new practitioner -- worth at least one hundred times-plus the cost of the book -- and an excellent review for the seasoned doc.
This Book has helped my Practice.......2001-03-25
Ivan Delman has written a book that was sorely needed in the chiropractic community. We learn how to help patients but often our education is lacking in the business aspects of running a practice. And we certainly get no training in how to keep a practice running beyond startup. Dr. Delman had a successful practice and now has shared his experience with us. Everything from marketing to hiring and handling employees to knowing how well you are really doing along with a host of other things is covered. I have this book on my desk and refer to it several times a week. I feel this book can help you be successful and help you stay successful in your chiropractic practice.

An important guide for a wide range of professions .......2005-04-06
Speaking As A Professional: Enhance Your Therapy Or Coaching Practice Through Presentations, Workshops, And Seminars isn't just another public speaker's guide: it addresses those involved on a professional level and tells how to enhance a therapy or coaching practice by giving presentations, workshops and seminars. Chapters specific to this purpose offer author/therapist/business coach Dan Grandstaff's practical tips on how to expand a coaching or therapy practice through public speaking. From locating groups which use speakers to presenting onesself as an expert, this will make an important guide for a wide range of professions who would turn expertise into a side-business.
Speaking as a Professional.......2004-12-01
Speaking as a Professional is a very helpful how-to book filled with practical advice, relevant worksheets, and well-explained examples that offer even the most seasoned speakers valuable ideas for enhancing their therapy or coaching practices. As a business writing coach, I appreciate the guide's clear, organized, and easy-to-read format, as well as the solid content itself. While all the chapters are helpful, I especially like the one on "Delivering an Effective Presentation," where Dan Grandstaff's tips will definitely help me take my presentations to the next level.
review of "Speaking as a Professional".......2004-11-18
This book is thorough, practical, and inspirational. Although all the chapters were helpful, I found Chapter Seven to be particularly so. The tips for managing anxiety helped me to sail through a recent presentation at a professional writers' conference. In fact, I enjoyed giving the presentation so much that I signed up for an upcoming workshop on "Getting on the Lecture Circuit." Thanks to Dan's book, I now have more confidence on the floor and on my feet.

GET WHAT YOU DESERVE
Customer Reviews:
What do you deserve?.......2007-06-16
This is an excellent book for anyone who has grand aspirations but doesn't seem to be reaching them. It's a wake-up call for those who's "presentation" and actions do not match who they believe they are.
Getting what you deserve is about being (deliberately!) who you want to be and projected what you want to create.

Excellent for novices, refreshing reminder for veterans........2001-04-20
Sluggish writing but good content. An excellent work for novices to the business world and a refreshing reminder for veterans. I went through great efforts to obtain a copy of this book because I wanted some new substance about marketing myself. ... I was surprised how simplistic the information presented in this book was. There was really nothing new to learn, except for some extended ideas within the self-marketing common sense tools & techniques. It's really all about good-old-fashioned deeds and character development. The book is a good reminder of what does count in our dealing with people. It is also a confirmation that by holding on to these qualities one is still keeping on the right track -- in this world of chaotic decline, at times, one wonders if one is becoming an oddball just being polite, for example. The idea of finding your own "position" is critically valuable and the encouragement to stick to this positioning statement until you achieve what it is that you want and feel you deserve is most heartening. I found the section on how to use the tools and follow the rules one of the most useful. But the most rewarding part is found at the end when it wraps it all up in a system or plan "not for the faint of heart" that is truly a daring challenge to the serious reader, followed by a summary of the 50 most important concepts for the success of the plan.

This is How to Preserve Your Family's Hard-Won Wealth.......2004-06-09
This book is an eye-opener. This will tell you how the big money stays big, and how you can keep yours in the family. Of course you have to have "some" assets to make these techniques worth while (not as much as you might think!), but if want to plan on husbanding your assets, this is how it is done.
Just the information about how a Medicaid Trust can keep medical expenses from destroying your retirement is worth the price; it is worth 100 times the price.
