This is a powerful manual for e-businesses on how to achieve profitability by leveraging web analytic tools, techniques, services, and strategies.
Appeals to anyone faced with the daunting task of selecting the right personalization product or service
Provides insight into building sticky and profitable web sites
Author has provided data mining consulting services to Fortune 100 corporations
Customer Reviews:
Excellent source of information about vendors.......2003-10-18
I bought this book thinking there would be an extensive discussion of web data mining as it relates to marketing. Although Mena comments on a wide variety of applications, his book is rather a long list of software vendors with detailed information about their solutions. Managers interested in implementing anlytics and intelligence applications (and in need of personalization systems) will find Mena's benchmarking efforts very useful, but won't be needing the book afterwards. Which makes it a little expensive for something that will be soon outdated, with the market changing so rapidly.
Finally, someone sorts it out!.......2001-09-28
This book should be required reading for every executive, marketing, or sales manager remotely connected with e-business, e-commerce, or making the e-channel work. In fact, industry analysts, investment and equity researchers, and consultants - anybody interested in companies engaged in making the e-channel "work" - should all be reading this book to get a simple, clear, and definitive picture of the vast array of efforts going on in the e-business optimization industry.
This is not a technical book -learning how to optimize e-business takes a lot of knowledge and can't possibly be contained in one book, however: this is a book that offers a concise guide to and classification of the many, varied e-business optimization solution approaches out there. Weaved in and thoughout are subtle, simple, and helpful recomendations, insights, and sometimes just plain descriptions of "how things work".
As mentioned, an indispensable guide - but with a bonus. A companion website will allow me to stay up-to-date in the fast changing world of e-business, with - hopefuly - more insight from Jesus as to what's working, what's not, and the explanation for the latest tools and techniques that arrive. This is almost like having a virtual consultant or guru I can refer to regularly.
I'm glad Jesus moved in this direction with his second book, he truly has helped people like me and provided a service to the overall business community by once and for all carefully laying out and delineating the vast array of data mining, web mining, CRM, eCRM, personalization, and e-business optimization efforts out there. Thanks!

Book Description
In recent years, credit has become the predominant form of support to small producers, while other forms of business development services have diminished. Looking Beyond Credit assesses the need for targeted business development services other than finance, their growing importance among small producers and how they can work in tandem with credit schemes.
The book shows that small producers generally face a range of constraints
other than finance such as access to improved technology, raw materials, skills training and information on market opportunities. Therefore, schemes that address these constraints are achieving a larger impact than those which focus on credit alone. The case studies examined here record significant achievements in terms of employment generation, increased incomes and product innovation and diversification, thus supporting the view that targeted business development services can play a bigger role and should be incorporated with credit schemes to provide total support to small producers.
Looking Beyond Credit will be essential reading for anyone involved in the supply or demand of business development services.

Customer Reviews:
Really dissapointing..........2007-02-17
I bought this book as a senior psychology major, hoping to gain insight into my possible career options. Instead, I found a very brief and basic book that would be more appropriate for a highschooler toying with the idea of applying to colleges with a major of psychology in mind.
This book spends large amounts of space discussing the college application process and a few pages briefly discussing career alternatives(When I state 'briefly', I mean aprox 4 sentences for each career option). Additionally, it consists of some autobiographical prospectives from individuals who graduated with a BA in psychology. Unfortunatly, the perspectives offered are not really realistic portrayls of the mainstream career choices. Counseling with a MA, PsyD, or PhD is not really discussed, nor is a career in research.
I would NOT recommend this book unless you are a junior or senior in highschool considering a major in psychology. Even then, I would suggest you try to borrow it from the library instead of paying the high cost.
Now I know........2005-06-18
Wow what a clear window into Psycology. Every question is answer. A must read for anyone interested in Psychology.

Great Graduation gift!.......2007-05-09
This is a great gift for a cooelge graduate, or someone who is floundering with a choice of college major!
Poor Value.......2005-08-21
With typographical errors throughout, it's hard to take this book for an English Major seriously. The majority of the book is general and relates more to picking a major than information on a major. There is very little information in here that isn't common sense and only the case studies are of any real value to someone who is already fairly sure of their choice of a major. If you're fairly certian that this is the major for you, don't bother buying this book. You can pick up all of the information applicable to you by browsing through it in the local Borders or B&N.
