Beginning with a survey of the weights and monetary systems extant in Eurasia in the 7th to 11th centuries, Pritsak goes on to solve many of the fundamental problems that have existed for over a century in the study of Old Rus' metrology and numismatics.

    Many of Pritsak's conclusions challenge conventional theories in this field. Students of the history of Rus' and numismatists in general will find this to be the most thoroughly researched and documented English-language study of the subject to date.

    This book is largely devoted to an analysis of Old Rus' coins from the 9th to the 11th centuries. The first three chapters deal with the monetary systems of Western Europe, the Khazars, and the Volga Bulgars. The next two chapters deal with the Rus monetary systems of Kiev and Novgorod, with an appendix on Varangian runes found on Muslim coins. Then there are chapters on the iconography and epigraphy of Old Rus' coins, and classification of Old Rus' coins. Finally, there are illustrative tables, with enhanced pictures of Old Rus' coins, identifying each coin.

    This book is extremely informative on its subject, and is comprehensive in its reach. Unfortunately, it is written in a very turgid, academic style. So, it makes an outstanding resource, but not a good read.

        Plenty of husbands and wives in the job world today find themselves feeling as if they must choose between their careers and their families. The Gregorys say there is a better way to live and work, one that need not force spouses into such unfair decisions. The Gregorys, entrepreneurs and longtime journalists, present a compelling argument that working at home provides the perfect framework for a couple to design their lives the way they want, share more-and better-time and experiences together, and grow closer to each other and their kids in the process. Thanks to solid research, including interviews with dozens of "Home Team" couples nationwide-and a few internationally-the book contains a wealth of helpful how-to tips for couples who have been running full- or part-time businesses from the home for years, as well as why-to information for spouses in traditional jobs who desire a better life. Detailed, yet uncomplicated with a touch of humor to strengthen each point. Truely enjoyable reading.                         This book is absolutely useless unless it is your very initial introduction to the concept of a focus group. It is tremendously shallow, sophomoric and uninformative for professional marketers. Redundancies abound in this book, and much time is spent bemoaning focus group facilities' incompetence and other extraneous factors that only tangentially related to the real subject. Mr. Greenbaum offers no actual case studies to illuminate the utility of focus groups. His examples are vague and barely scratch the surface. It is unfortunate that the field of qualitative research is tainted by pseudo-experts of his ilk.

                        Most of the Marketing Research text books have only mentioned the Purpose, Process and Management of Focus Group in a superficial manner. It is difficult to get to know the examples of Focus Group. This book can presents information on conducting market research with focus groups, discuss how to select and evaluate moderators and facilities and using the latest technology and innovative techniques to obtain more useful information.
                        It's a clear, logical and easy-to-read book that is highly recommended.

                        I purchased this book in the digital version, being too impatient to wait for delivery. I soon found that supreme patience was required to ferret out the information I was looking for.

                        First the good news: the (e)book is thorough and structured. A lot of valuable details are brought to focus. If you are seeking information on the mechanics of organizing and running a focus group, I think this would be a good start.

                        However, I also want to know how to collect data from a Focus Group, and how to interpret the data. This it turns out is a research project in and of itself, since this information is scattered in various chapters, and the formal discussion only begins on page 87.

                        I eventually found the information I was looking for, although the level of detail was a bit thin. I just find it fascinating that a book intended to serve the advertising industry has it's punchline on page 87.

                        I purchased this book to refresh my skills when organizing a series of focus groups with very diverse demographics. Edmunds allowed me to brush up on key techniques, but also painted a great visual for the those on my team that were focus group virgins.

                                        Leadership has long been an important subject in the study of international economic relations. Many scholars give American leadership credit for strong economic growth in western Europe and Japan after World War II. Other scholars have accused leading nations of using their power to the detriment of foreign countries. For example, it is often argued that a failure of both British and American leadership was a cause of the Great Depression of the 1930s.
                                        In Leading Questions, Robert Pahre develops a series of formal models to determine under what conditions leadership will be beneficial or harmful for the international political economy. He begins with a simple model of collective action and then adds leadership, security concerns, cooperation, and multilateral regimes to this basic model. He tests each model against a different historical period between 1815 and 1967.
                                        Pahre's findings challenge conventional wisdom on international leadership. He finds that a leading state harms others when it has many allies but is good for the international political economy when it lacks allies. Leaders are less likely to engage in international cooperation than are other states, but having a leader in the system makes cooperation among follower states more likely. Cooperation by others may cause the leader to join a system of multilateral cooperation.
                                        Pahre presents the technical material in an accessible style. By challenging the conventional interpretations of political economy in several historical periods, Leading Questions will be of interest not only to political scientists but also to economists and historians.
