An important legal issues guide and survey........2000-09-09

This updated, revised new edition includes new contributions and new legal decisions and court cases as it considers issues of sexual harassment and outlines the legal and moral problems of battling the problem. From definitions of such harassment at work to its legal ramifications, this provides an important guide.

From a victim's perspective.......2000-07-15

Although the book provided overwhelming substantiation to the topic of sexual harassment, the book lacked a degree of personalization from a victim's perspective. However, the book does provide an exhaustive and good theorist's view of sexual harassment -- which is good if in fact that is what you are looking to read. My interest were more aligned with the victim's perspective and thus more interested in a practitioner (vice) theorist view of: (1) victim experience(s); and (2) detailed harasser profile. One thing I have found that this book lacked as well as several others is that most assume that the female/victim is the subordinate and that the harasser is the "supervisor." The (3) key issues in subsequent investigations are an examination of the: (1) advance, (2)response and (3) employment consequence -- where the female/victim does not necessarily have to be the subordinate. Believe this book and others should address this issue in greater detail.

I got my job through Internet Jobs........2000-05-10

Just joking. This book really does not list any jobs. Rather, it discusses some of the trends that are shaping the world of Internet jobs. The books suggests that in the next few years all jobs will be Inetrnet jobs. The best thing about the book is how it organizes jobs into three classifications: content, infrastructure, and business. Jobs in all three areas are changing and people who understand those changes are in a much better position to get the best jobs. This book helped me understand what to look for in a position.

New Market Analysis - Excellent!.......2002-12-31

Since I have been introduced to Bob Prechter's Elliot Wave analysis and others like him, I have had tremendous success in the markets this past year. While I do not believe that Elliott Waves can predict exact stock market movements with a 100% degree of accuracy (who can?), I have been alerted to important tops and bottoms in this past year of a tempestous bear market environment and have profited in both directions. "Socionomics", as outlined in the book makes perfect sense as a social and economic indicator, and we see the exact scenarios that the book talks about taking place today in our global economy. A good read, as is Conquer the Crash (and no, I am not a paid reviewer for Prechter - I read and consider all points of view on the markets and the economy. This way of approaching the market is refreshing and insightful, not to mention profitable).

this is probably the worst book you could buy. The author's pseudoscientific observations are worthless. His market predictions would have bankrupted anyone who listened to him in the last 10 years. There is no evidence that Elliot Waves have any predictive ability.

Scientific background of Elliott Wave Theory.......2002-05-13

R. N. Elliott announced the Wave Principles as the "Nature's Law" some 60 years ago. Since then, many Ellotticians has been predicting the market movements in perfect accuracy, using his methods.

Mr Prechter's previous book, The Wave Principle of Human Social Behaviour, was about a new discipline called "Socionomics" which was the application of the Elliott wave principles to the Human Social behaviour. In that book Mr Prechter successfully proves that the Social Mood is the motor of all human activities, and the Elliott Wave Theory is the only method to analyse the market behaviour, which is indeed the mirror of the Social Mood, swinging from one extreme to another in the forms of waves.

Market Analysis for the New Millennium is made up of 21 essays of 12 authors. In this book you will find interesting essays about the Social Models, Fractals and Chaos Theory, Mathematical basis of Wave Theory, Finance and Philosophy, Investment Manias, a new Elliott formation called Packet Waves, Sunspot Cycles and Stock Performance and the requirements for successful forecasting and speculation.

In the Foreword, "Conventional analysis is a wasteland of irrelevance" says Mr Prechter. I agree. So what do we need to understand what's going on ? I recommend you to read this book, I'm sure you will change your views about the market movements, if you still didn't read the previous books about the Elliott Wave Theory.

Until recently there have been almost no analyses of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) as a political institution—that is, one driven both by internal incentives and by ties to a larger political body that, in turn, responds to its own political and economic pressures. Past research has usually viewed the FTC's mandate of antitrust and consumer protection as beyond controversy and has treated the agency as a well-intentioned guardian of consumers and the marketplace. Critiques of the FTC's performance have most often focused on particular instances of policy failure and prescribed reforms that would enable the agency to faithfully serve the public interest. The studies collected in this volume apply positive economic analysis to the study of antitrust and consumer protection as practiced by the FTC. They examine the systematic influence on the agency's behavior of external factors, such as Congress, the executive branch, and interest groups. Internal factors, such as organizational structure and incentives, are also considered. These studies develop and empirically test theories that attempt to address such questions as, Why certain groups benefit from or bear the cost of FTC actions? What form FTC interventions in the economy are likely to take? and What forces determine FTC budgets, enforcement efforts, and program choice? This volume is unique among analyses of federal agencies in that it has been conceived, organized, and largely written by public-choice scholars who have firsthand experience with the inner workings and politics of the agency.
