Don't pay for a book on resumes. Google it. There are many good websites out there on writing resumes and writing...in general. Not specialists in resume-writing, but a bunch of editors out to make a quick buck so buy my online writing class to learn to write. I make a full-time living as a freelance writer and writing teacher.

Book Description
Managing Tourist Health is a seminal study which combines a range of state of the art reviews of the issues facing tourism managers and professionals in the fast growing area of tourist health and safety. An international range of contributors, each a specialist in their chosen field, have written papers for this book to explain many of the complex issues affecting tourists, the tourism industry and governments in ensuring tourism is viewed as a safe and enjoyable experience for all.
The contributors have a wealth of interdisciplinary experience ranging from medicine, law, tourism research, safety science, ergonomics, management, consultancy among other cognate areas of study. Future research directions are examined in many of the chapters together with current state of the art knowledge in relation to key studies.
The editors have worked in this area of research since the late 1980s and have accumulated a wide range of academic, professional and consultancy experience for governments and the private sector. The book extends this understanding through a multi-disciplinary perspective combining some of the leading researchers who have published in this area since the emergence of tourist health as a legitimate area of study in the 1970s.

Book Description
This book presents an in-depth study of organizational change and innovation in one of the UK's leading retail leisure companies. Based on a remarkably deep level of access, the authors provide a fascinating longitudinal study of the management process in action - both the formal, 'on stage' aspects of strategic change and the informal political back stage behavior of those involved.

Richard A. Moran has distilled the businessplace into a collection of 355 aphorisms that run the range from the often-overlooked ("Don't get drunk at the company holiday party") to the potentially career-saving ("When you get the entrepreneurial urge, go visit someone who's started a business--it may cure you"). He knows his stuff--he's the National Director of Organization Change Practice for Price Waterhouse and has been featured on CNN and NPR. This collection of wisdom nuggets is packed with chuckles and perfect for Dilbert-lovers.
Book Description
A collection of business aphorisms that is authoritative, highly readable, often humorous, and always wise.
Customer Reviews:
A Leader For Business Organization Change Offers A Checklist For Leaders And Potential Leaders.......2007-09-19
The author, Richard A. Moran, is the National Director of Organizational Change Practice for Price Waterhouse. "He has worked," his biographical profile in the back of this book state, "for all types of organizations worldwide, from Apple Computer to Zurich Insurance. Moran helps organizations implement their strategies by keeping management focused and by getting lots of help from employees. He is the co-athor of the landmark study POSTCARDS FROM EMPLOYEES, which capture the perceptions of more than 50,000 employees regarding their organizations and managements as well as well as customer service and other work-related areas...."
This book, a collection of 361 aphorisms gleaned from his experience, is in individual parts, both superficial and profound. The aphorisms are simple and not always appropriate for each individual in each situation. His advice on dating (don't date co-workers), oneupsmanship (get into the office a half hour before your boss), honesty (don't take sick days unless you are sick), holiday parties (don't get drunk there), traveling on corporate jets (know the seating protocol before you get there), and racist jokes (expect to be fired if you tell them) may strike people as overly obvious or overly general.
What the author offers is a checklist of advice that is useful to anyone who works as part of, in cooperation with, a complex bureaucratic structure. "Most observations that made it to the pages of this book were learned from other people's mistakes, even though most of the blunders went unnoticed by the offenders. To them I am most indebted," he says.
"....The obervations in this outlined in this book," the author says, "were not derived through the rigorous application of conjoint analysis in a JIT environment with the Black-Scholes methodology as a denominator. Rather, they are based on the simple organizational truths that I find people should know--but don't. I hope this book bridges the gap in the knowledge frontier and makes you more successful."
Based on one's life experiences, one will have different views of the value of this book, and the value of the individual aphorisms it contains.
My nominees for the best three dozen aphorisms are as follows:
#5. "Simplify, don't complicate--especially processes, procedures, and policies."
#7. "Spend five minutes figuring out how to communicate the decision for every ten minutes you spend deciding."
#8. "Believe that change can happen, even after overwhelming evidence says that things never seem to get better."
#15. "Don't promise what you can't deliver."
#25. "Never confuse a memo with reality...most memos from the top are political fantasy."
#27. "Don't look at change as bad."
#31. "Share the credit for successful projects and make sure everyone's supervisor knows of everyone's contribution."
#50. "If you're going to complain about something, have a solution in mind and make it clear what you want."
#57. "Develop a high tolerance for ambiguity--you'll be more satisfied."
#64. "Don't micromanage your people, your projects, or your own life."
#86. "Read your job description but never be restricted by it. Do what needs to be done."
#96. "When giving a talk or presentation, always consider what thought you want the audience to walk away with."
#120. "Recognizing someone else's contribution will repay you doubly."
#126. "Make time for life outside of work."
#130. "You're never too old to change, learn a new job, start over, or try something new."
#142. "Life is choices: always choose to do what you will remember ten years from now."
#164. "You will never regret having spent too much time with your kids."
#167. "Take risks with your ideas and with implementing them."
#171. "Being good is important; being trusted is essential."
#174. "Always strive for a deeper level of truth with business associates. Posturing and pretending is always transparent to everyone."
#185. "Do something good early in your new job or assignment."
#209. "Don't surround yourself with people who are like you; strive for difference and diversity."
#226. "Those who do the work should have a say in how it's to be organized."
#241. "Remember that almost all business is painfully simple. Strive to demsystify."
#247. "Teamwork will become more and more important. Lean what it is and how to be a good team member."
#251. "Don't get hung up defining whether you're working on a vision or a mission or goals or objectives--do what's important."
#266. "Work on problems, not symptoms. Morale itself is never a problem; something is happening that causes low morale, which creates a problem."
#288. "Be a supporter of the latest fad, but don't build your career around it."
#308. "Performance evaluations take place every day, not every six months or every year."
#322. "Technology cannot solve all problems. It can only make the real work cheaper, faster, and less tedious."
#330. "Make decisions in a timely fashion, even if you're not 100% certain it's the right decision. Not deciding is a decision, too."
#342. "Follw Stephen Covey's suggestion of knowing how to distinguish what's important and what's urgent."
#344. "Treat everyone in the organization with respect and dignity whether it be the janitor or the president. Don't ever be patronizing."
#352. "All employees--including the management--want to know three things when they show up for work: What's my job? How am I doing? and, How does my contribution help serve the organization's mission?
#355. "Always know the answer to the question, "What business are we in?"
The simplicity of this book does not undermine its profundity. This an excellent book for someone new to an organization, to someone trying to explain things to someone new to an organization, or to an experienced person fighting burnout, loss of focus, or simply too much to do to concentrate on what is essential.
The author has written a provocative checklist of things everyone in leadership, or aspiring to leadership, ought to look at closely.
A Great Book.......2006-08-08
This little book should be on everyone's desk. It is filled with lots of little reminders to put us back on track. A fun read and highly recommended. Makes a great gift ;-)
Never Confuse a Memo With Reality.......2005-09-04
Truly the best distillation of excellent day to day practices to be successfull in corporate business environment .All said by nimble bullet point statements
Never Write a Memo You'll Regret.......2002-01-23
This book merits a few stars, because its collection of aphorisms is "half-good" and "half-right". However, Moran's witty comments can shock the reader as much as amuse. Frequent references to the "little people" on the factory floor and the admonition to "be nice to receptionists" remind us that the author is part of an old-style middle-managerial clique, adept in the ways of kissing up to his superiors but possibly rather abusive to underlings. Also, the advice to be "open" to new technology and trends gives this book a terribly "dated" feel for something going all the way back to 1994.
A profound little book.......2001-01-03
Because of its size and layout, this looks like a novelty item---a "101 Uses for A Dead Cat" type of book---but it is a profound distillation of wisdom culled from experience in the business world.
It is indeed a good gift for graduates, but since they have little or no work experience they won't get a lot of the aphorisms. As one reviewer noted, the longer you live, the more sense these pithy sayings are likely to make.
Practical, real-world advice contained in the book includes: - Never take a newspaper to the bathroom - Never tell a colleague he looks tired - When you're waiting for someone in a reception area, stand up rather than sitting - Keep track of how you spend your time; someone is bound to ask you to account for it. - Never in your life utter the phrase, "It's not my job."
Sometimes it's difficult to explain why these statements are true, but if you've been around for awhile you know that they are. Buy several copies of the book, one for yourself and a couple as gifts. ... [I]t's cheap wisdom you can apply every day of your working life.

Book Description
Both the novice and the experienced presenter will find everything needed to present any program--including: designing the program content; dealing with the logistics; leading the sessions; anticipating and handling any problems that surface.
Customer Reviews:
I wish it had been written 25 years ago: superb!.......1998-12-06
In the preface, Rietz and Manning report they "tried to think of all the decisions, questions, issues or concerns the reader might face so they can proceed with confidence..."From the beginning to the end of the book, the authors deliver on this goal by sequentially guiding the reader through the workshop development process. The content has value for the experienced as well as the novice professional. In addition to learning the new, content in the One Stop Guide to Workshops confirmed practices I have learned over the past 22 years from course work, my own practical experiences, and observations. As I read the book, I found myself wishing it had been written 25 years ago.
Facilitation and Designing Meetings, TeamBuilding & Workshop.......1998-10-21
This comprehensive guide not only gives excellent guidance and checklists for workshops, but also for the facilitation of meetings and teams.Topics include: how to deal with difficult people, strategies for handling challenging situations and surprises, dynamic case studies and group learning activities, key facilitation and presentation skills, advantages and pitfulls of various audio visual equipment, and logistics. The check lists alone will save you time and minimize risk for meeting and workshop problems.

Customer Reviews:
One of the best books of this kind.......2003-07-29
Just about everyone seeks out some sense of security and wealth in order to lead a fulfilled and happy life. The problem lies in how we define security and wealth. We all have various concepts of security and wealth that have been defined by our culture, our parents, our friends, and our experiences. This is a shaky foundation on which to base your happiness.
In "Inner Security and Infinite Wealth" the authors examine the concepts of will, inheritance, ownership, value, trust, allowance, investment, appreciation, and exchange and redefine them into deeper concepts instead of being only related to money. They recognize that money is an important part of net worth, but reframing the above concepts can change an individual's relationship with money. Enlightening, well written, and powerful, this is easily one of the best books of the year in the area of self-worth and a highly recommended purchase.
Much more than meets the eye...worth reading.......2003-06-28
It's nice to see a 'money' book that's about more than money. When life becomes all about how to make and hold on to cash and lucre, something has gone wrong. This book showed how to rediscover things beyond office/work culture. Sure, make money and be happy - but don't think that making money MAKES you happy. I'm the child of depression era parents, and I know that money does not equal happiness.
The financial terms applied to everyday life work nicely. This is a good way to teach people to be good to themselves and eachother again. I'm glad I got this.
Glad I bought it........2003-06-28
It's encouraging to see two people involved with finance and business and such go to the effort to write something like this. They've done what no one else, to my knowledge, has yet been able to do: strike a realistic, achievable balance between the American drive to succeed and acquire, and our tendency to try and do so in the most ignorant, ham-handed way possible. They teach that it is possible to earn and amass money while still living true to all the lofty ideals we had in college. The only thing that bums me out is that too many people will thumb through it and immediately think "ah, bunch of hippy dreamers." Trust me, the hippies wish they had a vision this clear and universally applicable.
Wow!.......2003-06-17
This book has changed my life! I am free from worry about the future because now, when I start to worry, I now have the awareness to choose beliefs that support me... in a heartbeat. Thank you, Mr. Zimmerman and Mr. Rosen
Great book to help increase abundance in life.......2003-06-11
This book is part instruction manual, part inspirational guide. It offers the reader new definitions of traditional financial terms, in order to reach a deeper level and experience of security and wealth. I really love the way the authors take each chapter and focus on one aspect of wealth and how we can embody it more fully or possibly for the first time ever in our lives! This book needs to be read by anyone interested in altering, for the better, the way they view wealth, abundance, security and prosperity.
