This work explores the problems arising from dynamic information technology in its application to intellectual property rights. In a global marketplace of ideas, political boundaries and the sovereignty of the nation state seem to be disappearing because of the increasing difficulty of scrutinizing the infringement of intellectual property. That is particularly true of computer software, the focus of this book. The work analyzes the legal and political economy implications of investment in the software programming industry and the near-futility of monitoring protection of intellectual property in industry. The book begins by exploring the current state of copyright laws for computer software. It analyzes the economic theories of demand elasticities, public choice, clubs, and the concept of public goods as those theories apply to intellectual property, particularly computer software. This analysis is followed by a discussion of prevailing legislation in the United States, Europe, Japan, Asia, and China. The analysis is fortified by a comprehensive coverage of the Uruguay Round. The work concludes in favor of the free flow of information, which yields overwhelming benefits to a globally integrated market.

As a trainer in the financial services industry, I often use stories to help me convey complex topics. I enjoyed reading Mr. Gargiulo's book as it supports my approach, but also triggers some thoughts on new/different ways to incorp & leverage the power of stories in my training and educational programs.
The Story Behind the Story.......2005-02-28
At last we have a definitive study by an original thinker who understands the difference between having something of value to say and having to say something. Terrance Gargiulo takes the reader by the hand and walks them through a garden of delightful stories told by real people in real businesses. Their powerful descriptions of what it's like to make critical decisions under pressure are crafted in story form, so that the reader is both enlightened and entranced. The final chapters of his book are are competency builders of first-rate quality, showing step-by-step how to improve your powers of observation and reflection so that you too can tell great stories.
Story Themes and Structure Demythologized.......2005-02-25
As a corporate presenter and technology coach I often get asked to construct themes and prepare story spines for important presentations. For me, Gargiulo's work is a terrific guide in devising a beginning, middle and end structure to match any client's business aim, be it organizational, strategic, market driven or entirely different. Gargiulo has a knack for understanding how stories can enrich and empower communication of all kinds, but in the generally dry corporate environment, they can be an important catalyst for change and deeper communication. I particularly liked Gargiulo's nine basic story types and what they can help the reader accomplish. Book is highly recommended for anyone seeking to broaden their communication skills in the corporate or academic arenas.

Good Professional Guidance.......2002-08-07
I found this book very helpful. I am director of sales, and found a good balance of examples and tips. Most of the resumes are geared toward business professionals, with an emphasis on how to develop your resume with the hiring company in mind. This is important in our industry from a sales perspective, and they teach you the same approach in presenting yourself to the customer, meaning the hiring manager/company.
This book was not helpful for me as a teaching professional........2000-06-09
I needed to get my resume straightened out for applying for jobs as a science educator at a college level or as a disability/deaf rights activist, or maybe going back into Neuroscience which my MS from med school is in. I found this book was okay for people with high school, work experience, and a first degree from college, but not for someone like me who has 3 degrees and numerous experience in speaking to groups and writing for a variety of mediums. This resume definitely is not for those who need to write something closer to a curriculum vitae, but is adequate for everyone else. I found this book to be very helpful, and include more variety than others on the market. The online section was good - brief and to the point. I think this is a book for the future on getting your foot in the door.

I just received this book and was pleased to see the variety of resumes. There really are a lot of different ones to mirror. They also included lean and mean tips on job searching, interviewing, working with recruiters, doing stuff online and electronically.

Too many salespersons (as well as those who supervise them) do not understand the importance of obtaining permission. Specifically, permission to provide information and thereby begin what then becomes a cultivation-solicitation process. So we continue to be inundated with postal and electronic mail we do not want. Telephone calls from persistent strangers invade our personal schedules. And so forth. Why not take the time to learn how best to approach us? How best to obtain our permission to proceed? All they have to do is ask. The same is true of those who recruit, interview, and hire job candidates.

Don't waste your money.......2005-02-23
I was hoping this pamphlet would contain some valuable insight into the psychology of the telephone interview and how the phone interview differs from a "face to face". This pamphlet doesn't contain that kind of information. It doesn't contain any information about a phone interview that is of value. There is exactly one paragraph in the pamphlet that address the specifics of a phone interview as opposed to any type of interview. That paragraph covers the fact that a phone interview lacks visual and tactile information. We can't see the interviewer's body language or facial expressions. Nor do we experience the hand shake. Anyone of average intelligence already knows that. I didn't need to spend $12.99 to find that out.
The pamphlet does contain some very good basic information about interviewing and the interview process. Information that you well obtain many times in the first few chapters of other more valuable books.
This pamphlet is basically a retelling of information culled from other interview books. The author adds nothing new to the subject of interviewing. The author, quite wisely does not profess to have any experience conducting interviews or as a hiring manager.
